View Full Version : Marina Sport and Recreation Facilities

I'm trying to find out what recreation facilities are available within the Marina. the goal would be to help residents and visitors to the Marina to become aware of facilities that might otherwise go unnoticed or unused. It might also encourage the formation of sporting leagues or clubs.

I guess there would be multiple categories of facilities:

1. Private facilities. These would be facilities only available to residents of specific communities or buildings and their guests. I am particularly interested in creating an index of squash courts in order to encourage friendly competition between communities or buildings. My building Marina Mansions, for example, does have a squash court and has a team that participates in the Dubai Squash League, which is lots of fun. We are one of eight teams in our division, but the teams are fairly far flung, even from as far away as Sharjah. It would be nice if we might be able to establish a local division (not necessarily as formal as the Dubai Squash League, but more for friendly matches).

2. Hotel facilities. These would be facilities at hotels such as pools that may or may not be available to day guests or available as part of a membership package that the hotel might sell. For example, my old building (Marina Tower) had a great 20-meter lap pool. My new building has a wonderful pool, but it's not big enough or configured properly for swimming laps. I might be interested in purchasing a membership somewhere close by for swimming laps, but I'm not aware of any place within a five minute walk of my building. Perhaps there is such a place though in the densely built marina.

3. Other commercial facilities. These would include a broad range of facilities including the new Reel Cinemas due to open soon at Marina Mall, or the yacht rental option at the Yacht Club.

I don't really have an idea of a format for cataloging this information yet, but perhaps we can start out by listing the facilities that we know about. I'll reply to this thread though starting with my building.

this thread is a great idea. It would be great to have an overview of sport facilities inside the marina.

I believe that most of the towers do have gyms and pools seem to be quite popular too.

Let's wait and see how many people will provide information :)

I think there is supposed to be one of these Hayya gyms like they have in Springs, Lakes and Meadows. Should be in the Marina Mall some day, does anyone know if that's the case?

Barracuda, I do remember something like that, perhaps at Emaar's first development here in the Marina, but I don't think they have it there any more, at least by that name, as it doesn't appear on the Hayya website: http://www.hayya.ae/category/en/locations-facilities/

What about Marina Wharf? Is it true there will be bowling alleys there?

In June/July Club Stretch (http://www.clubstretch.ae/index.htm) will open the first Bikram Yoga and Pilates studio in Dubai Marina at Marina View Towers. The works on the studio have been in progress for several weeks already. Keep your eyes and ears opened for the official opening. There is nothing of this kind on this side of town. I am sure it'll be a great addition to the sports facilities in Dubai Marina.

Kick boxing training in the Dreams Tower :)

I there any wrestling club to learn wrestling?
Please suggest me.
^^I am afraid wrestling is not part of the Yoga/Pilates menu at Club Stretch.
I am not aware of a place in the Marina district, where you can train wrestling, sorry.

The royal meridien beach and spa membership is 30,000 dhs ( £5k ) for a couple but they offer 15% corporate discount for 3 memberships or more. That takes it down to £4250 for 2 people for 12 months. Includes: 20% off all restaurants at royal meridien and grosvner house.

Habtour grand has a special offer on, 19,500 dhs annual membership for a couple.

I think all the beach clubs will negotiate if groups show an interest and there are lots of special offers for spa treatments, free meals, guest passes etc.
