Notes:
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company’s new headquarters will become a landmark building in the United Arab Emirates and a symbol of ADNOC’s status as one of the most prominent oil and gas companies in the world. In addition to office space, this magnificent tower will include a Corniche Club, the Supreme Petroleum Council and Crisis Management Centre, the Heritage Museum and other supporting facilities. The tower will also have a Gold or Platinum LEED Certification, reducing its impact on the environment.

The local Arabian Foundations has started work on the enabling works package for the new corporate headquarters for Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc).

Six Construct to build Abu Dhabi's tallest tower

Belgium’s Six Construct has picked up a US $490 million (AED1.8 billion) contract to build what will become Abu Dhabi’s tallest tower – the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company Headquarters (Adnoc).
The first package worth $163 million for the core and shell was awarded to Six Construct last week with four more packages to follow.
The project is being managed by Six Construct internally and the consultant on the job is Halcrow. Adnoc is the client.
Work on the project is expected to begin end May and is scheduled to be completed in around 36 months.
The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company Headquarters has been designed to become a landmark in the UAE capital. In addition to office space, the 342m tower will include a corniche club, a museum and other supporting facilities. The tower is also expected to work towards attaining a Gold or Platinum Leed status.

AltinD April 17th, 2010, 11:59 PM These guys have yet to decide how to build the tower. It would be build by reinforced concrete columns but what will be encased inside (rebar, plates, tubes ... ) is still being discussed between contractors, consultants, sub-contractors and material suppliers. One thing is for sure, they're are aiming for a very, very strong structure but that it would mean also very, very heavy.

joshsam February 25th, 2011, 09:24 AM ^^If you exclude the 'old' dubai you are right. Abu Dhabi has that grid you can find in other cities. The new dubai is build on cul de sac like roads wich don't give that impression of build up area a city normally does.

I think you are talking about Sharjah ... which in general is taller then Dubai.

I kinda have the feeling that this project might have a somewhat negative effect on the Etihad project. I like the Etihad towers standing on their own, having much space surrounding them.

The uae cities and emirates are very close to each other. And Dubai sharjah and Umm al-Quwain together is a constant urban sprawl stretching for 87 kilometers along the persian gulf.

edit: sorry, the Regent Emirates Pearl is actually the twisting tower behind it and the gold cladded tower is the Bab Al Qasr Hotel ( It's actually one building) :)

I falsely assumed water around the UAE would be dirty and sandy due to the construction and desert environment but it actually looks clean and blue like water around the Caribbean or Pacific islands. I can't wait to see this!
Trnovo February 6th, 2013, 06:42 PM I've been to Abu Dhabi twice, both times at the Intercontinetial. The water is warm and clean and he first time the Etihad Towers were still under contsruction, and the second time this tower.. The progress is just amazing!
