Thanks. Alhough I see you're Norwegian, do you live in Shanghai?

Live far from a city in northern Norway. :)

But was in Shanghai half a year ago, though i didn't check out that site up close when i was there. Anyway, this is the current site as seen in Google Earth.

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y136/cityw/Architecture/UnnamedKPF.jpg

Also, we're working on a map of Shanghai with all the buildings (me, z0rg and staff), this is very much under construction, but you can check it out (google maps):
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=114618753525279527955.0004790dd0d88ba886de4&ll=31.226894,121.474457&spn=0.08602,0.181789&t=k&z=13

We are trying to put all 150m+ buildings which is U/C, Approved or proposed in it.

wow, what a building! if this turns out as the renders above, i'm moving to shanghai  (again)! why shanghai gets all the cool stuff where HK (excluding the ICC) is falling behind? well, not yet maybe. but i'm sure in the next ~ 5 to 10 years shanghai will take over HK as skyline #1.

HK999
November 26th, 2009, 09:00 PM
^^ true. china is going to take over the USA as the no.1 world super power in a couple of years, my estimation: ~ 10 years. good for you if you teach your son mandarin, look at us chinese, we speak at least one foreign language, in my case that would be english and german. but that's OT. i really hope this building will make its own way in the skyline!

HK999
November 26th, 2009, 09:12 PM
China will not overtake the US for much more than 10 years. I predict 50. The GDP per capita of China is an utter fraction of the US. Nonetheless, China's influence is now on par with America's.

China is one of the oldest and most amazing countries on Earth. I love it.

well, we can discuss this later somewhere else. :) . thanks for the kind words. i know my country rulez (see my name )!

You know any other proposals Staff. Or is it likely that this will be the final design?
I dont know if it's just me but I think this building is taking way too much attention from other buildings in Pudong such as SWFC and Pearl tower.

Maybe there are other proposals not taking too much attention :)

dnobsemajdnob, I think I speak for many people when I say shut the f*ck saying the same things over and over again. We all know you opinions now, yes China is emerging as a super-power, yes China is developing at a mindblowing pace, yes Shanghai is a fantastic city (and I agree it is, I visited myself last year)....but seriously you are boring and monotonous, get over yourself and try to enjoy any Shanghai/China development intelligently without spamming threads with your inane, repetitive monologues.

thanks.

Þróndeimr

Ni3lS
December 1st, 2009, 05:33 AM
I made that statement because I said that this magnificent project is fitting for the de facto capital of one of the oldest civilizations that makes European civilizations seem new by comparison. I am part Han Chinese. Am I not permitted to be proud of my heritage?

Just keep it on topic bud, and you're fine.

Xander
December 1st, 2009, 09:22 AM
Dude, what's your problem?

Are you insulted by the fact that China is basically the oldest civilization, together with India, Iran and Iraq?

Yes thats exactly it, I'm insulted that China is one of oldest civilizations.........

NO you idiot, my problem is you. I'm not referring to anything else. I don't have any issues with China, I have been there twice and loved it both times. I have no issue with Chinese history, far from it I find it fascinating and love Chinese art/culture/history.

My problem is you going off topic constantly in numerous threads going on and on about "Shanghai being the greatest city in the world" etc etc. I don't care about your opinions, I just get sick of your spamming and confrontational off topic posts. Just give it a rest PLEASE.

Anyway I know I am being a hypocrite by continuing off topic now, so any further issues please pm me and spare the threads with your drivel. OK?

sorry to everyone else, I just had to say something.

p.s. it's great to be proud of your heritage, just do it in a less irritating way!

Yes it is a great design, but it could be in better harmony with the CITIC Pacific HQ and Mandarin Oriental twins in front of it

If the hole in this building was in alignment with the road passing through the twins, this would create a better 'gateway' effect.

On gaoloumi the user "zip" (who i consider as reliable) claimed that he spoke with someone of KPF (architectural firm which is designing this building) and this person said, that there gonna be now two seperate buildings on this plot (twin towers?).

So this "double-gateway design" probably won't be the final design. I think it's a pity, I really liked the design. But at least this building is not dead.
