View Full Version : Drawing S&B-buildings
AtlanticaC5 April 23rd, 2004, 07:48 PM Hello! I've been drawing buildings on the SSP-diagram for some months, and I have seen that quite many buildings in the S&B-region haven't got drawings, and many buildings are missing too as you can see here (http://skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?6028235), especially in Finland. So now, I will start drawing S&B-buildings that haven't got any drawings yet, or maybe if the drawing has got the wrong height. I've already made some Swedish buildings, but many in the region are still missing. My goal is to draw all buildings that are +50 m. Let's see if I'll make it! :) My first one is the Academy of Science in Riga:
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Academy_of_Science.bmp
Remember, I'm not a professinoal drawer, but I'll do my best!
Mantas April 23rd, 2004, 07:53 PM Your first drawing is quite ok and good luck with others :)
sdes April 23rd, 2004, 07:56 PM Very good job AtlanticaC5!
Do you use Paint?
John April 23rd, 2004, 08:21 PM Hey great job, AtlanticaC5! Could you draw some stuff for Vilnius? ;)
Oberleutnant April 23rd, 2004, 08:22 PM If you want, I can try to find you good reference photos of Finnish high-rises. :)
Also, many of the currently existing drawings of Finnish high-rises at skyscraperpage.com are outdated, for example:
http://www.skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?b2679
Shoud look like
http://www.yit.fi/binary.asp?guid=5294568E-DFA6-4D6F-842A-D3FEC6F45E41&field=image
And it's correct height would be closer to 90-100 meters. Tower's new, official name is also "Cirrus".
http://www.skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?b2640
These are supposed to depict Itämerentori (it's not spelled Itämerentorni)? Gimme a break!
The real thing: http://www.vtt.fi/virtual/try/Terak/tr4-2000k3.jpg
And from the other direction:
http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v125/oberleutnant/ruoholahti/ruoholahti2.jpg
Jonas' SysOpen Tower on the other hand looks very close to the real thing. ;)
So, if you need any reference photos, just tell me and I'll try to help any way I can! Good luck to you and your effort!
IMPORTANT TIP REGARDING HELSINKI HIGH-RISES:
Also search for buildings in Espoo - that's where many of Helsinki's high-rises are located, for example buidlings like Fortum, Kone Building, Meritorni, etc.
Monkey April 23rd, 2004, 09:31 PM Wow, Atlantica! That's great! :okay:
A most meritorious undertaking, there are so many fine buildings in our region that should be known much better! :) I applaud you and wish you well in this endeavor. :angel1:
grendy April 23rd, 2004, 10:13 PM In the diagrams why aren't there any buildings from other cities in Finland? :( .. It should be updated somehow (I have no idea how :) )
AtlanticaC5 April 23rd, 2004, 10:14 PM Very good job AtlanticaC5!
Do you use Paint?
Yup, Paint is the only program I use for drawing, but I save the buildings as .gif in IrfanView :)
Hey great job, AtlanticaC5! Could you draw some stuff for Vilnius? ;)
Sure I can! ;)
So, if you need any reference photos, just tell me and I'll try to help any way I can! Good luck to you and your effort!
Thanx, I will tell you if I need anything! :)
Wow, Atlantica! That's great! :okay:
A most meritorious undertaking, there are so many fine buildings in our region that should be known much better! :) I applaud you and wish you well in this endeavor. :angel1:
Thanks, as I said, I will do my best :angel1:
Gatis April 23rd, 2004, 10:16 PM Huh, seems I should say thanks for making Riga building! :)
(Why is it so small???)
AtlanticaC5 April 23rd, 2004, 10:22 PM Huh, seems I should say thanks for making Riga building! :)
(Why is it so small???)
Is it small? It's 108 pixels tall, and the scale in the diagrams is 1 pixel = 1 m. So don't expect any very big buildings! :D
Next building to get a drawing: Domus Vista, Copenhagen
AtlanticaC5 April 23rd, 2004, 11:13 PM Domus Vista is now finished:
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Domus_Vista.bmp
Gatis April 24th, 2004, 09:46 AM OK, that's clear! Anyway - many thanks. Hope, you manage to make some more. I will look for possibility to send a good Riga TV building picture - or you have something?
DenverDane April 24th, 2004, 02:38 PM Domus Vista is now finished:
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Domus_Vista.bmp
Great job, Atlantica! :okay: And you are fast too!
AtlanticaC5 April 24th, 2004, 02:58 PM Thanks DenverDane! Domus Vista was quite easy to draw, took me less than an hour.
Next building: Radisson SAS Royal Hotel, Copenhagen
AtlanticaC5 April 24th, 2004, 05:40 PM Radisson SAS Royal Hotel is now finished: :)
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Radisson_SAS_Cph.bmp
wolkenkrabber April 24th, 2004, 05:43 PM good job
Jarmo K April 24th, 2004, 05:57 PM i've been watching your ''career'' since your first drawing at SSP :colgate: ....and i must admit - you've done a hella good improvement! keep up the nice work and soon you're as talented as the master-illustrators (Cliff, SPE etc.)
good luck with your plan! (:
DenverDane April 24th, 2004, 06:07 PM Radisson SAS Royal Hotel is now finished: :)
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Radisson_SAS_Cph.bmp
Wow, and it's in "3D"! :)
AtlanticaC5 April 24th, 2004, 06:11 PM I'm glad you liked it! :)
FINNISH HELP PLEASE! Have anyone got a pic of the base of my next project, the Hotel Torni?? I've only found pics of the top!
AtlanticaC5 April 25th, 2004, 02:00 PM Haapaniemenkatu 7-9, Helsinki:
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Haapaniemenkatu.gif
Oberleutnant April 25th, 2004, 03:03 PM I sent you a message regarding Hotel Torni. :)
Very good work on the tax office tower by Haapaniemenkatu!
http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v125/oberleutnant/merihaka/?action=view¤t=verotorni.jpg :okay:
Other buildings look very shagadellic, too.
AtlanticaC5 April 25th, 2004, 03:25 PM Thanks Oberleutnant!
My Academy of Science http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Academy_of_Science.bmp was deleted due to "incorrect roofheight". It's 108 pixels tall, isn't it 108 m? Or is it just the roof which is 108 m? Mine is 108 m with spire.
Mantas April 25th, 2004, 05:48 PM Wow, you're fast :D
DnH April 25th, 2004, 06:56 PM good work..
Draw the "högaholm" houses in Malmö
17 floors

Monkey April 25th, 2004, 09:19 PM Thanks Oberleutnant!
My Academy of Science http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Academy_of_Science.bmp was deleted due to "incorrect roofheight".
I'm outraged!:mad2: How dare they delete that beautiful building? :bash:
Gatis April 25th, 2004, 09:59 PM Academy of Science is 108 m with spire. In Soviet times there was a red star on spire, later it was removed. May be this is problem - the change of the height?
sdes April 26th, 2004, 10:51 AM Very nice work AtlanticaC5! :)
Also, many of the currently existing drawings of Finnish high-rises at skyscraperpage.com are outdated, for example:
http://www.skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?b2679
Shoud look like
http://www.yit.fi/binary.asp?guid=5294568E-DFA6-4D6F-842A-D3FEC6F45E41&field=image
And it's correct height would be closer to 90-100 meters. Tower's new, official name is also "Cirrus".
I updatet the Cirrus drawing, now it's 98meters.
AtlanticaC5 April 26th, 2004, 03:09 PM I updatet the Cirrus drawing, now it's 98meters.
Yes, I saw it! Very nice drawing sdes! :)
Devilution April 27th, 2004, 12:07 PM This one should be fairly easy...the design is so minimalistic :)
http://www.vtt.fi/virtual/try/Terak/ter4-01-3.htm
Yep, it´s the Kone building in Espoo, raising 75meters above ground level.
AtlanticaC5 April 29th, 2004, 03:51 PM Here's my Hotel Torni, thanx to Oberleutnant for the pics!
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Hotel_Torni.bmp
I don't know how the entrance looks though, so if there are any major mistakes, please tell me :)
sdes April 29th, 2004, 06:06 PM @AtlanticaC5
Hotel Torni looks great! Very good work.
AtlanticaC5 April 29th, 2004, 07:39 PM Thanks! Here's another Helsinki-highrise, Järjestötalo I:
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Jarjestotalo_I.gif
AtlanticaC5 April 30th, 2004, 01:45 PM And my first Oslo-building, Rådhuset:
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Radhuset.gif
Thanks to NorthStar77 for the help! :)
NorthStar77 April 30th, 2004, 01:55 PM Ahh, thank you AtlanticaC5 for drawing it!!
You've managed to create a 3D effect, and included details like "klokkehuset", great work! :okay:
Monkey April 30th, 2004, 08:34 PM You really are doing a remarkably fine job, Atlantica! :okay::applause::banana:
AtlanticaC5 April 30th, 2004, 08:59 PM Thanks WH! :) I have made some requests for tall Norwegian buildings, which I will draw when they are added!
Next up: the Haapaniemenkatu-buildings in Helsinki! :)
AtlanticaC5 April 30th, 2004, 09:30 PM Now is the drawing ready (I did only one drawing, the buildings looks the same all of them)
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Hakaniemenranta.gif
DnH May 1st, 2004, 12:28 AM come on.. make högaholm highrises in malmö
AtlanticaC5 May 1st, 2004, 03:02 PM @DnH: Yes I will make them as soon as the official height (49,5 m) is up on emporis, Swede will fix it asap.
Here is Økernsenteret, Oslo:
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Okern.gif
AtlanticaC5 May 1st, 2004, 06:37 PM Rica Forum Hotel, Stavanger:
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Rica_Forum.gif
(yes I know, it could have been better but I'm not good at glassbuildings!)
Oberleutnant May 1st, 2004, 06:41 PM Excellent work with every building, Atlantica. Glad I could help you with Hotel Torni, the model looks great (the entrance is not on this side, so don't worry about it!).
If you intend to draw more high-rises in the Helsinki region, don't forget the city of Espoo: http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/ci/?id=100590
Especially these two buildins, Meritorni and Reimarintorni, should be quite interesting: http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/bu/?id=110280 & http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/bu/?id=110273
Also, here's quite interesting building from the city of Jyväskylä:
http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/bu/?id=100073
http://www.finnica.fi/keski-suomi/arkkitehtuuri/12.htm#
Again, if you need reference pics, you need but to ask. :)
sdes May 1st, 2004, 07:26 PM @Ober
Those buildings don't exist in Skyscraperpage diagram, only admins can add new buildings to the diagram. :(
btw. I made a short visit to Kivenlahti area today, maybe some photos later. :)
Swede May 2nd, 2004, 11:43 AM This thread rawks!
In fact, I feel it's something that need reconition, so it's going sticky!
Oh, and if you feel like pitching in and wanna learn how to make teh diagrams, just ask Atlantica (or go to the diagram forum at SSP (http://www.skyscraperpage.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=30)).
AtlanticaC5 May 2nd, 2004, 01:55 PM Thanks Swede! :)
Here's my last one,Helsfyr Panorama, Oslo. It went out quite messy because I drew it in a bigger scale and then shrunk it down:
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Helsfyr.gif
Jarmo K May 2nd, 2004, 05:08 PM good job with all the drawings, i really enjoy your work! keep it up. (:
NorthStar77 May 3rd, 2004, 12:23 PM Good work on Helsfyr and Økern :okay: I apretiate that you are doing some norwegian buildings! :)
Are you allowed to draw more than just one drawing of each building? I could take a picture of Økernsenteret from another angle, where it apears slimmer. If you are interested :)
AtlanticaC5 May 4th, 2004, 09:12 PM I have now drawed to buildings in my dear hometown, Borlänge :)
First the Bäckelunds-chimney, tallest structure in town:
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Backelund.bmp
And then the probably most known Borlänge-building, the shoppingmall/indoor-arena Kupolen:
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Kupolen.bmp
:)
AtlanticaC5 May 5th, 2004, 09:31 PM One of the harder I've drawn, Christiansborg in Copenhagen:
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Christiansborg.gif
grendy May 6th, 2004, 12:37 PM Hey AtlanticaC5! :)
Your drawings are awesome i must say! If you have the time and stuff can you draw currently the tallest building from Tampere, Finland? The one i'm talking about is Hotel Ilves (http://www.emporis.com/en/il/im/?id=262903). That was the best picture i could find at this time :).. And the stats are: 18 floors, 63m.
AtlanticaC5 May 6th, 2004, 02:25 PM @grendy: Yup, I can draw it as soon as it's added to the diagrams :)
AtlanticaC5 May 6th, 2004, 06:44 PM Kansallismuseo, Helsinki:
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Kansallismuseo.gif
sdes May 9th, 2004, 10:40 AM Kansallismuseo looks really nice! :)
Þróndeimr May 20th, 2004, 06:42 PM Atlantica, I give you a hint of a nother Norwegian structure we need on ssp....;).....Tyholttårnet in Trondheim.
http://www.idi.ntnu.no/~roger/trheim/page2/Tyholttaarnet_16_Feb_2003.jpg
http://home.online.no/~runness/ch/images/Trondheim/Tyholttaarnet.jpg
From this point of view maby...
But Tyholttårnet is very hard to draw i gess, many small details.
I am trying to drew some image as well, but hell...they look like shit.... :puke:
Oberleutnant May 20th, 2004, 07:26 PM Good work with the tower of the Finnish National Museum. Looks very accurate. Thanks man for doing Finnish buildings as well. Also, if you require reference pics for Hotel Ilves, PM me. :)
AtlanticaC5 May 25th, 2004, 03:49 PM Thanks again guys. Sorry I haven't been on the forum for a while, but I will continue, don't worry! :)
AtlanticaC5 May 25th, 2004, 06:07 PM Dom Cathedral, Riga:

http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/St_Jacobs.gif
Gatis May 27th, 2004, 05:30 PM Thanks for creating Latvian churches! I am not so sure about Dom's church, but can not say anything concrete.
AtlanticaC5 May 27th, 2004, 05:43 PM @Gatis: Yeah, I'm not sure about the color of Dom, if it should be more white. What you think?
Mantas May 27th, 2004, 06:53 PM Can you draw this one? It's called The Gates of Vilnius (approved, 69 m). Thanks :)

AtlanticaC5 May 27th, 2004, 08:22 PM @Mantaz: I'll try, but first the building must be added to the diagrams :)
Mantas May 27th, 2004, 08:33 PM @Mantaz: I'll try, but first the building must be added to the diagrams :)
How can we do that? :)
John May 27th, 2004, 08:50 PM @Mantaz
you have to post the building info in a special thread of addding new buildings but I'll take care of that :)
@AtlanticaC5
The building will be there as soon as some aditor will add it after I submit the info, so if you just could make the drawing it would be real nice :)
one more rendering

John June 1st, 2004, 04:10 PM @John: Next drawing: The Gates of Vilnius :D
nice to hear that :)
btw, that's the most recent rendering, the design was a bit changed from the last renderings I posted, so I think it would be better to to use the following as a base, plus IMO it should be easier :)
it's 69m high and 19 floors
http://g.delfi.lt/images/pix/file4446694_nam.jpg
despite the design correction the situating of buildings didn't change, so you may exactly know how each building is situated and thus draw it correctly, thanks for your efforts and waiting to see the result :)

Thanks, AC5 :okay:! When will it appear on the list? :)
AtlanticaC5 June 1st, 2004, 06:36 PM Thanks, AC5 :okay:! When will it appear on the list? :)
As soon as the building is added, I'm going to talk with Jonny 5 about it so hopefully within 10 minutes :) The drawing must be in the Pending approval-diagram first though.
John June 1st, 2004, 06:54 PM Good one, Atlantica :okay:
few minor suggestions:
1. maybe it could be a few (5-6) pixels narrower
2. the lower part is exactly of the same width as the tower, in the rendering it is closer thus looking wider.
but anyway, well done :okay:
AtlanticaC5 June 1st, 2004, 06:58 PM @John: Oh sorry, didn't see that the base is the same width as the tower! I'll fix that! :)
Btw - Next drawing: Tyholttårnet, Trondheim
John June 1st, 2004, 07:03 PM and the Vilnius gate is already added to the diagram, so you just need to upload the drawing :) http://www.skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=29875
AtlanticaC5 June 1st, 2004, 07:04 PM Here it is, thinner and better! :D

sdes June 2nd, 2004, 05:50 PM Thanks!
How can I contact this Jonny 5? I would like to ask him to add Kielotorni in Vantaa?
AtlanticaC5 June 2nd, 2004, 07:46 PM The easiest way is to make a request in the request thread (http://www.skyscraperpage.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=13475), where a mod adds the building.

sdes June 3rd, 2004, 03:01 PM John, your drawings are very good too :)
AtlanticaC5 June 3rd, 2004, 03:11 PM lol John, I wouldn't consider myself a drawing-master :D but thanks! :)

John June 3rd, 2004, 06:18 PM Wow that's a good drawing John! I would guess that it will be somewhere in Vilnius, am I close? :D
Thanks!
It's not Vilnius but you're not far, just 300km away :)
sdes June 3rd, 2004, 06:22 PM That looks very nice!
Somewhere in Lithuania, near the coast.
Gatis June 3rd, 2004, 06:23 PM (counting cities some distance around Vilnius)
Riga... not
Minsk... doubt
Kaunas... 100 km
Bialystok... who knows
Kaliningrad... some 50 years later
But I know!!! Klaipeda!!
AtlanticaC5 June 3rd, 2004, 06:24 PM 300 km? Hmm....Klaipeda?
John June 3rd, 2004, 06:33 PM Sure that's Klaipeda, Gatis was the first one to guess it :)
It's a project of Gandraliskes Residential Quarter, according to the developers it all will be complete until 2010 and the construction starts this summer. Looks very ambitious and I even would say not very realistic (klaipeda's population is only 190,000), but the developer is a group of some of the largest Lithuanian companies so they have all capabilities to realize it, we'll see how it goes :)
It's just a pity that it's not in Vilnius :D
AtlanticaC5 June 3rd, 2004, 06:55 PM OK, how many highrises is it in the complex?

John June 3rd, 2004, 07:05 PM @AtlanticaC5
It's a big project, and for a city of this size it's smth incredible :)
I've made a list of highrises planned for this place
36 storeys
30 storeys
24 storeys
22 storeys
22 storeys
22 storeys
20 storeys
about 3 buildings of 12 storeys
I'll try to make all drawings if successful :)
sdes June 4th, 2004, 12:11 PM Fortum HQ, Espoo. It took me pretty long to draw this.

John June 4th, 2004, 02:09 PM Could anyone make a quality drawing of this one? I tried but it didn't go as I wished, it was problematic to make the oblique shape of the right side look smooth :(

Mantas June 4th, 2004, 02:14 PM Whoa, nice drawings from all of you :okay:
sdes June 4th, 2004, 02:16 PM I can try. :)
John June 4th, 2004, 02:29 PM @sdes
you can use my unsuccessful drawing, the scale, shape and size is good so you can use it
http://img44.photobucket.com/albums/v136/johngang/drawings/ktower.gif
Mantas June 4th, 2004, 02:42 PM @John the drawing is good enough, just those facade lines and basement/roof are missing
sdes June 4th, 2004, 03:00 PM Tried, but couldn't make it look any better. Sorry.
But, I think that it is already smooth enough.
AtlanticaC5 June 6th, 2004, 03:41 PM Hey Gatis, what you think of this one? :D

ch1le June 6th, 2004, 04:04 PM whoa, guys u have way too much spare time.. pixeling is HADR , GL on future work
Jarmo K June 6th, 2004, 05:03 PM you guys are great! keep up the good work!!!
Gatis June 8th, 2004, 10:33 PM AtlanticaC5 - I did not compare with real pictures of these buildings - but I consider your drawings to be very very good!!!
I can recognise Ministry of Agriculture immediately. Regarding Preses Nams - do not know how the lover part looks in reality. There could be something more.
John June 8th, 2004, 10:57 PM I think it's about time to make a better drawing for Saules Akmens (http://www.skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?6432998)
so who will take this mission? I know it's not an easy one :)
AtlanticaC5 June 9th, 2004, 10:29 AM Hmm, yeah Saules Akmens looks hard, but I can at least give it a try :)
Btw - is it 117 or 120,8 m? Emporis says 117 m and SSP 120,8 m.
John June 9th, 2004, 11:55 AM SA is 120,8
Emporis data is old :)
AtlanticaC5 June 9th, 2004, 03:26 PM Well, I did my best, but glass-buildings are difficult! :) I made two different, which one do you prefer?
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Saules_Akmens.gif
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Saules_Akmens_II.gif
Gatis June 9th, 2004, 04:23 PM Mhm. It is difficult. @AtlanticaC5 - the cladding differs in these two parts. And the sail has smooth line, not broken
http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v236/lecekte/Saules-Akm-PetB-8jun04.jpg
http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v236/lecekte/VisiRigas/Saules_akmens2_21apr04.jpg
You might see that lover part has something added, but it is under construction now.
Here you can count the floors of sail:
http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v236/lecekte/VisiRigas/SA_no_Akmens_tilta_25apr04.jpg
This is rather complicated piece.
Mortar & Pestle June 9th, 2004, 05:35 PM AtlanticaC5 - I am jealous of the time you have on your hands! ;)
But you are a doing a stellar job. Keep up the good work :D
Oberleutnant June 13th, 2004, 01:00 AM Would any of our Drawing Masters be willing to tackle two really demanding jobs, like the high-rises from Cino Zucchi's and Tuomo Siitonen's models for Keski-Pasila? ;)
AtlanticaC5 June 13th, 2004, 12:00 PM Keski-Pasila? Hmm, not sure if I have heard about it, have you got any rendering? :)
Oberleutnant June 13th, 2004, 12:10 PM You haven't heard of Keski-Pasila? *feels that all his energy spent on Keski-Pasila propaganda has been wasted* :wallbash: :)

 :)
I will propably try to draw the Siitonen's landmark tower. Maybe 100pixels tall and with the spire 130pixels?

Oberleutnant June 13th, 2004, 08:02 PM WOW! :D You could try adding that walkway part to its lower section and it would be even more awesome. (Not that I'm in position to "complain" about anything!)
How can you do this stuff so quickly? :)
Hmm, I wonder if I should give this thing a try. If no one is against the idea, I could try making Radisson SAS Tampere. I'll let you know soon enough if it proves too difficult for me.
OT: I really hope they'll use that landmark tower somewhere else if they don't choose Siitonen's master plan.
sdes June 13th, 2004, 08:28 PM Thanks, I will add the walkway. :)
You can draw the Radisson SAS Tampere if you want to. I have requested it, and lets hope that they will add it to the diagram soon.
Oberleutnant June 13th, 2004, 10:25 PM *sigh*
This isn't very good yet. It IMHO needs more work and converting to correct GIF format, but still, regardless:
Radisson SAS Tampere
height: 76 meters
floors: 24
http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v125/oberleutnant/ssp/radisson.gif
sdes June 13th, 2004, 10:43 PM It looks very good, nice work Ober :)
Even better than the rendering.
Oberleutnant June 13th, 2004, 10:53 PM Thanks ;)
I'm still going to tweak it a little bit tomorrow (I'm off to bed soon). It's a pity that we don't have very good renders or pictures of the building's model.
http://www.sci.fi/~olvari/Etusivu.jpg (thanks grendy!)
For example, at first glance this rather undetailed render seems to suggest that the taller part has no windows at all!
Yet this drawing from Tampereen kauppakamari shows otherwise: http://www.tammistoknuutila.fi/kauppakamarilehti/Lehtiarkisto/2002/2-02/Kuvat/torni.jpg
Oh, well...

AtlanticaC5 June 14th, 2004, 12:10 PM The proposed 210 m-tower in Solna, Solna Tower:
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Solna_Tower.gif
I haven't seen any real rendering of this building, only a model without facade-details, that's why it's so grey. :)
Oberleutnant June 14th, 2004, 04:48 PM Did little fixing to Radisson drawing. Here are the alternatives, the first one has darker windows on the taller part.
1. http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v125/oberleutnant/ssp/radissonnew.gif
2. http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v125/oberleutnant/ssp/radissonalternative.gif
I'm probably leaning more to number two.
(Again, good work, both of you!)
sdes June 14th, 2004, 04:53 PM Hmm... They both look good, but i would choose number 2. :)
Oberleutnant June 14th, 2004, 10:17 PM Okay. :) I'm just wondering whether it's up to the quality standards at SSP. Also, does it matter, if I took few liberties with the drawing, since those two reference pictures show very little of the building - ie. there's no way knowing how the ground floor looks like or how the windows are arranged on the taller, 24 stories tall part.
Swede June 15th, 2004, 07:59 PM The proposed 210 m-tower in Solna, Solna Tower:
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Solna_Tower.gif
I haven't seen any real rendering of this building, only a model without facade-details, that's why it's so grey. :)
Yeah, can't recall any better renderings either. And I have to say your drawing captures the one shown in all the renderings I've seen pretty well (since we've only seen one or two perspectives...;)).
@ober - I'd go with the first one, but that white bit in the corner needs to go (I have NO clue how that is done though). As for the parts you've deduced, if they haven't been shown in the renderings there's really no way to get it more accurate! :)
Oberleutnant June 17th, 2004, 08:51 AM Thanks Swede. :)
No worries about the white box in the upper left corner, it'll go away when I convert the .gif to correct type of .gif . . . which brings us to a question: how do I do it in Paintshop or Photoshop?

Nightsky July 1st, 2004, 04:28 PM I have just begun drawing buildings and it has worked out well, except for some smaller problems.
You are doing a good work, Atlantica C5, I especially appreciate that the Malmö section has grown.
But don´t draw Hyllie water tower in Malmö since I just have finished it. :)
AtlanticaC5 July 1st, 2004, 06:00 PM Nice to hear that you have begun drawing Nightsky! Smaller problems are ordinary for me too, so don't you worry about them, if you just want to, you can draw (almost) any building you like too :) And don't worry, I'm not planning to draw Hyllietornet :D
Jarmo K July 1st, 2004, 06:41 PM nice work, Atlantica!

Old version:

AtlanticaC5 July 4th, 2004, 08:16 PM Just one thing Nightsky, at the top of the windows in your new Kockumhuset, it looks like the windows are going "up", if you understand. Should it be like that? The rest looks fine though.
Nightsky July 4th, 2004, 08:33 PM Ok, I will change that.
The next one will hopefully not take that long.
Nightsky July 4th, 2004, 08:45 PM Now it is changed:
http://img30.exs.cx/img30/417/Kockumshuset_resized.gif
AtlanticaC5 July 5th, 2004, 11:50 AM It still looks a bit like the top-floor windows are leaning up (or maybe I need glasses :)), the windows at the bottom floors looks really good though.
Btw - I've mailed Kjell Göthe at Kockums AB, and he said the building is 65 m to the roof, so now that's confirmed :)
Nightsky July 5th, 2004, 05:31 PM No, you don´t need glasses :)
Sorry, I posted the old one again by mistake. Nice it is confirmed, they also say it is ok now at Skyscraperpage:)
This is how it looks:
http://img3.exs.cx/img3/417/Kockumshuset_resized.gif
Nightsky July 5th, 2004, 05:36 PM I have now finished three more drawings for Malmö:

Sturup Airport Control Tower, 45m
Nightsky July 5th, 2004, 05:45 PM I changed the roof of Södervärnstornet.
http://img14.exs.cx/img14/9994/Sodervarnstornet_resized.gif
AtlanticaC5 July 6th, 2004, 04:02 PM Södervärnstornet looks really good! You know that you can make requests in the request-thread on SSP, so you can add them to the diagrams :)
Updated DN-skrapan, Stockholm
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/DN.gif
Nightsky July 6th, 2004, 05:06 PM Yes, I have done that for a couple of Malmö buildings (I just discovered that Jägersrotornet was already there :pet: ) It have been waited for almost 2 days, how long does it take before the request is in the diagram? And how do I add my drawing then?
DN-skrapan looks good. :)
Btw, I am not added to the members at "Association Members".
AtlanticaC5 July 6th, 2004, 05:44 PM Sometimes you have to wait quite long, (one time I had to wait for more than a week :)) but sooner or later it will be there, usually within some days :) You have to be a member at the SSP diagram to upload drawings. When you are logged in and click on a building, it opens up in a new window, and you can see a small text in the upper left corner, which says "Upload a drawing". Click it, and then follow the description :)

AtlanticaC5 July 8th, 2004, 01:33 PM Dunno acctually, was quite a long time since I got a member, ask at the SSP drawing-forum.

AtlanticaC5 July 10th, 2004, 02:34 PM Thank you Swede! :) Now, I'm not going to be online for the next 2 weeks since I'm going away on holiday to Öland (see the travel-thread), so you know where I am. :)

Nightsky July 13th, 2004, 09:49 AM The updated Hötorgshusen are much better than the previous ones!
Nightsky July 20th, 2004, 05:29 PM Now I have drawn Gårda Business Center in Göteborg, better known as Canonhuset. A good idea is to talk to stadsbyggnadsnämnden(building authority) and you can get drawings of a building sent to your home. As there was no info on internet, I had to figure out that way. The building is 59m and 18 floors tall.

AtlanticaC5 July 23rd, 2004, 07:31 PM Excellent drawing Nightsky, and good that you got the height! :okay:
Scandic Hotel Ariadne, Stockholm:
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v156/AtlanticaC5/Drawings/Scandic_Ariadne.gif
Nightsky July 26th, 2004, 01:44 PM It is now confirmed. I have talked to stadsarkivet at Malmö´s city hall and they had information on some Malmö buildings. Hilton is just 69m tall and Kronprinsen 81,8m. Jägersrotornet is 110m.
I also want to add that Quality Hotel Konserthuset is 44m. I have seen Disco´s drawings, it is hard to believe he is a beginner. My drawing of Kockumshuset was really a beginners drawing.
Nice drawing of Ariadne Hotel, Atlantica C5. I have thought about this building need to be added.
AtlanticaC5 July 26th, 2004, 02:26 PM Sad to hear that Hilton is only 69 m :( But I had a feeling of that, I've always though that Kronprinsen looks taller. Btw - do you think you could look for info about the taller buildings in Malmö (Lorensborg, Borgmästaregården etc) at stadsarkivet? The only info they've got now on Emporis is number of floors. But just if you want to :D
John July 26th, 2004, 02:37 PM I know this is a hard one (all those glass effects etc.) but would anyone dare to try drawing this one? :)

I'm not realy a beginner. I've painted all the buildings from "jens"... My profile just didn't work anymore so i had to register again with a new name. Hmm... http://www.skyscraperpage.com/ doesn't seem to work? Anyone having the same problem?

John July 26th, 2004, 04:38 PM @sdes
wow it's really good, only there is a division between glass facades in the middle (it's well seen in the first rendering), but I really like it!
Mantas July 26th, 2004, 04:40 PM You know it's pretty good, although the same shade of the darker part would be better
Oh, you've corrected it. Now it's really nice
Nightsky July 26th, 2004, 07:13 PM I hope they can use my version of the Canon Center too, as they are showing from different angles. However, they still haven´t added this building to the diagram. Of course I can look at info other buildings, I will plan to visit stadsarkivet soon, hopefully before I go to Barcelona.
What do you think of my new drawing of the Hilton in Malmö?

It took several hours to draw, so I hope it will be approved.
sdes July 26th, 2004, 07:27 PM It looks AWESOME, the colors, the details. I really like it, nice work Nightsky. :)

I wonder what happened to the 2 churches in Lund that I tried to add on the forum, it was several weeks ago? And the Gårda Business Center(Canonhuset) in Göteborg? May be I´m impatient.
I have added domkyrkan in Västerås and I will draw this building!

Sssh! Don't reveal to her that our Nordic architects in the 1960s simply used copy / paste to create dozens of similar looking commieblocks to create apartments for folk moving to cities!

Daniil N. August 15th, 2004, 11:25 AM Guys! How can I upload my drawing to your thread? I just tried to upload it thru my photo album on Rambler and become a such article "This file is not JPEG file", I don't know what to do! Please help!!!
Oberleutnant August 15th, 2004, 11:50 AM Have you saved your drawing as a gif file? It looks like to me that your online photo album only support jpgs. Try using some other - www.photobucket.com for example.

Gatis August 15th, 2004, 06:27 PM Ohoho, Daniil, this is great one! Unfortunately (naturally) over the last weeks there have been changes to the design - there appeared large letters: Hansabanka and there are also more complex things at the lower part in black colour. The house is also somewhat lighter, not so dark.
Hope there will be no big problem for you to update the rendering - otherwise it is perfect work!!!
