Although the spotlights now on the East End for nightlife, the West End is still one of (if not THE) world's busiest nightlife district. Basically Picadilly Circus-Leicester Square-Soho (the original one)-Tottenham Court Rd is brimming with people, busier at 4am than 4pm. The streets are packed with thousands right till 5am, especially on weekends when the crowds double, according to police numbers, to nearly 1 million passing through in a night. Its abit like Times Square but bigger, for miles:

Between 1am and 3am people head to the clubs after the pubs and bars start to close. 500,000 clubbers a night that claim London to have the best nightlife in the world (though Tokyo and Madrid might have something to say about that). You can go clubbing from night to morning to afternoon to evening to night again 24/7 by moving from club to club:

as for clubland, this would be your typical West End club - house music, podiums, lasers, sweaty crowds and people on the pull. Its all a bit 1990s:

but with epic moments, the best of these clubs are transplants into the East - Fabric (catch it while you still can), and Matter:

Whilst the new scenes in clubland are in the East End - where its less about the music and more about the vibe and the fashions,
and well just freeking out - anything goes, and theyre all polysexual (though its NOT about getting your rocks off, just having fun).
