Riga - the capital of Latvia, situated on the Baltic Sea coast at the mouth of the Daugava river. With 713,016 inhabitants (2009) it 's the largest city of the Baltic states and third-largest in the Baltic region. Riga has nice historic skyline and some new modern designs.

No skyscrapers, but so what? ;) Old towers are really tall and there's a lot of them, and I really like that "Stalinist" building. New designs are cool too (especially Saules Akmens)

6/10, It dosent really have any interresting skyscrapers, other then Saules Akmens and the very interresting TV tower. But it does have some very beautiful church spries, wich reminds me alot of Copenhagen. :)

9.5/10 for historic skyline but only 4/10 for modern, combined approximately it's 7 :)
We should check this back in a decade after Kipsala will gain some shape as a highrise cluster, bu we'll see everything as the time will come ;)

After 2 - 3 years there will be modern skyline. Lots of highrises are constructed now (10 buildings with 20 floors and more are u/c now) and a lot more planned in near future. Old city skyline will not be affected - there is done thorough planning. Riga City is having investment boom and there is high need for new buildings.

1. Kipsala - Kliversala highrise district opposite the old town - this visualisation includes only projects which have good chances to be built, although there are more in line. Most opf the buildings seen in this visualisation should be ready by 2012. Highest buildings should reach 50 floors.

This is one of the cities that I would like to visit in a near future. It looks like Riga is going to be one of the most interesting cities in the northern Europe where modern design connects with historical one.

I always thought that an historical part of Riga's city area is bigger. But looking at the pictures, it seems, it isn't too big. Gorgeous city, though.

Riga has a very nice skyline and wonderful setting. I love the spires of the churches. The modern buildings are a bit boxy but they fit in very well with the city. 8.5/10

It's not really a skyline per se, but the church steeples mixes with occasional high rises looks great. This looks like a beautiful city, and a few more 100 + meter buildings could do wonders for it.
