Who wished he/she could have seen or visit the twin towers?

I have seen them before already many times; but when I was a lot younger.

I saw them in December 1996 when I was in New York and took a few pics of the skyline with them in it. I wasn't into skyscrapers then but in retrospect would have loved to go up to the observatory.

I went up to the observation deck in 2000. I wish I'd taken more photos of the buildings themselves, rather than just the view from them. It's not as if I knew that just a year later...

They were the signature of New York's skyline. They took the focus so much that New Yorkers aside, who else could genuinely recognise the the other buildings around them?

I feel the same as the previous post.....In 2000 took so many pics from the roof top deck and in most I made a conscious effort to exclude the edge of the building. I have a few showing Tower 1 in the foreground with Midtown skyline behind. When I lined up in the lobby had the regulatory pic taken in front of the huge photo by a photographer and saw it amongst the many laid out on a table when I was leaving.....I didn't buy it...wish I had now. Travelling alone I don't ask many people to take pics with me in the pic but wish I had also done that at the WTC. In my later 2007 trip I made an effort to take many interior and involving pics of places I visited.....I am a changed person. Can only imagine how deeply New Yorkers were changed that day...forever.

I wish I was able to see them! Such amazing buildings they were, and I'll never forget the day they were no more :(. They were the buildings which spoke for New York City, and the United States of America!

The design was uninspiring anyway so not much was lost, except for the lives of people.

I was there when they fell, so yes I would love to be able to see them again at to eat at the restaurant at the top floor. Design was plain simple yes, but they were a remarkable feature in downtown Manhattan.

Been to the top of WTC 2 a few times. Only once was the roof observation area open, but I made it there also. Never went to the top of WTC 1 where Windows of the World Restaurant was located. Seems like it was quite a view from that restaurant. The top of the Twin towers were the only buildings I could see of NYC from my place in NJ. I remember as a kid, climbing the tree in my backyard and seeing them in the distance.

I know people who went to the WTC in the '80s. Boy I wish I had been there before it fell, the view must have been amazing!

Guess I will always have another memory of those buildings....after a wonderful first first visit to New York in 2000 I went up on the roof of my Guest house in 22nd street before I left for the airport. Looking south the only buildings that rose above the local skyline were the WTC towers......Some things you never forget.............I often post stuff that only really means something to me...as an experience....but I post it anyway because now a long time back home it is very surreal to think about it.

Saw them from the backseat of the family minivan, for about 3 minutes, 2 months before they were gone.

I wish I could have spent more time with the twins, but I'm so grateful I was able to see them with my own eyes while they stood.

The same goes for me. I was there in 1999. I had a free ticket and I had to choose between either the observation point of Empire State Building or the observation point of the Twin Towers. I went for the first choise. Looking back (which is always easy) I would probably have chosen the Twin Towers instead.

The design was uninspiring in YOUR opinion. No two buildings ever had such sheer symmetrical walls rising so high without set back. A great architectural achievement was lost in my opinion. I loved being able to stand in the window and look straight down for over 1,300 feet without any other parts of the building obstructing the view. And when you stood in the corner window of the Observation Deck facing the North Tower, you saw the symmetrical lines of the North Tower tapering down diagonally to a small point on the ground. It was a very dramatic sight, and I would love to see pictures of that angle if they exist anywhere.

I visited the Observation Deck of the World Trade Center on three different occasions. It was my favorite place to go in New York, and on the third occasion, it was calm enough for us to be let onto the roof. Having already seen them, it's not that I wish that I could see them. I just wish I could have visited the Observation Deck of the World Trade Center as the photographer that I am today.

My Dad use to travel to NYC twice a year to see a client. He said you could see the towers for miles!!! After 9-11 he said that once he got close enough to Manhattan it looked like a picture of someone missing their two front teeth. I thought that was a great way of explaining just how iconic those towers really were, RIP Pop!!!

I was super into skyscrapers when I was a kid. I saw them and went in them in Dec. 1995. I remember pushing up on one of the steel beams to look straight up at them.

I have been inside the North Tower in December 1984. Just in the lobby. I already did the Empire State Building that same day where I went to the restaurant over there.

It is still sad we never have the opportunity to see the Twin Towers again. The terrorists attack was terrible. A death toll of around 3000 people is beyond any imagination.

They weren't exactly hollow. They were designed to have a huge amount of office space to make them more economically feasible. Therefore, the outer walls of the buildings were designed to bear much of the weight of the buildings so that fewer columns would be required allowing for huge office suites.

I was only 8 on 9/11, so I never got to see them and by the time I ever get to visit New York the new World Trade Center will probably be completed.

Yeah, I do.

Although I was only 7 years old when the events of 9/11 happened, so I wasn't really interested in architecture in the same way back then as I am now. It's just a shame that, now that I am interested, I'll never get a chance to visit what was arguably my favourite part of the New York City skyline.

I suppose I'll get to see the new WTC at some point in the future though.

I remember passing by the NYC skyline when I went to a performance arts camp in northern NY, but 1WTC was so unbelievably massive, I've never seen a more massive building. It's a shame to think that the old WTC was even more massive, and that I never got to see it.
