I spent the first ten years of my life in Kuwait. And just visited last summer!

It was amazing to see such a beautiful city grow so much in a few years. And it is nowhere near its potential yet! The country holds a special place in my heart, and I hope to see it expand and improve year after year.

There is still a sad feeling when i go to sharq and see all the garages :s What did they do! demolish historic homes and architecture for tire and repair shops.. unbelievable this country is!

^^ The Bedouin mentality has no loyalty towards permanent space...it's an instinct to move on and have no attachments, that's why they had no qualms in destroying a 400 year old city in ONE GO.

Now that they have an identity crisis, they run around and spraying the remaining buildings with "sigma" or whatever it's called and call it "renovation!"

The Kuwaiti version of "the projects" (council estates)...I think we're the only country in the Gulf which has this sort of ghetto urban condition in the middle of the capital. I'm kind of into it, it feels "real"...but then I'm sure people who live in il Sawabir disagree! lol:

Most of the Jews in Kuwait were Basrawi or Baghdadi Mizrahi Jews. They left Kuwait in the 30's due to conflicts with the royal family.
