For one thing, Nizhny Novgorod wasn't a settlement of convicts, for another, its land wasn't claimed by a genocide. For everything else, there's Wikipedia (http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9D%D0%B8%D0%B6%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%B9_%D0%9D%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%B3%D0%BE%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B4).

There's a lot of photos of old architecture and modern buildings.

btw, Nizhny Novgorod is not a tall city for couple of reasons - especially for it's landscape and geological problems.

the buildings are not really amazing in terms of architectural designs.. but its good enough.. I will rate this 6.5/10

yeah, view from the top & city skyline is not much good - most beatiful & nice buildings in NN are low-floor.

voted 5.5/10 nice plans for the future but at this time skyline is short.

I hope than they will build buildings over 20 storeys soon, so the Nizhny Novgorod's skyline will become even better.
