Excellent picture, bizzy. I've been waiting for good pictures of these towers for ages. You did get them backwards, though by the way. This picture here is of Ahmed Abdul Rahim Al Attar and the one in the other thread is Khalid Al Attar. But I can't wait to see the crown rise from this thing now that the floors are all finished :cheers:

This isn't a supertall anymore. I checked out the database on www.ctbuh.com and emailed them about this tower. They said they got the height from adnan saffarini who's the architect.

The height is now 294m

I looked at the view when passing by at SZR, if this tower was 320m or + then you will have like a nice symetric view shared with Al yaqoub tower cross the street. It would look like a huge entrance gate for SZR! :cry:

Is there still work going on here? Nothing much seems to be happening (on the outside anyway).

Is the spire still a part of this building? If so they have to start working on that soon.

I wish the SZR towers will be as fast as the Dubai Marina towers... :ohno:

^^ Because developers here do not take money from buyers, for the simple reason that they aren't llowed to sell in this area.

So how does this work here? The developer has to come up with the financing from some bank and then he pays it back with the rent income? And who can build here?

^^ Yes, and everyone can build there as long as they are registered locally through a partner (and of course local companies).

Today morning I saw the base of the spire was visible ... when I returned just before the sunset I saw that the spire had grown also to maybe around 10 meters.

It wasn't jacked up though, only the metal sceleton was rising. It will get cladded eventually.

yeah i was abt to say the smae, everything on this one is just wrong. the proportions, the cladding, the well everything. The top doenst fit with the rest of the bldg. The bases cladding suddenly changes to blueish colored cladding, the flatroof topping is just pale, the spire looks our of place without any integration to the rest of the bldg. Its just an ugly box with a "funky roof".

well, i like it! it's a perfect addition to the skyline IMO.
not every building can be as amazing as Burj Dubai...

^^ not every building can the the burj but that doesnt mean it has to look like its made out of plastic with a lawn gazebo on top.
