not at all I totally I agree with you..because they said the airport would be completed in 2010..let's wait...but damn it I wait :(

That's why the bigger one is under construction...

You definitely right Matt. But step by step may freind. The Airport is much better today. Only the people that have used him in the past would agree and understand what im saying. And the main goal here was not the size but the funcionality of the building. They say it will have also an Hotel and small a gallerie, especialy for the passangers in transit to others destinies. Regarding the new airport will start operation around 2011/2012. So lets wait and see what the future reserves for us. Until there the old airport will continue to suffer upgrades to make him much better for travels.
And i think even after the new airport is built the old one will continue to operate also as an international airport. Luanda will have more than one airport, like Milan, London, Rio de Janeiro, Paris, New York, etc:cheers:
Happy New Year folks, A Fantastic 2010 for all of you:banana::banana::cheers::)

:ohno:

I don't think so! From my knowledge of our airport... there are only two terminals...National and Internationl. If they fly domestic, they must fly in the same terminal.

skytrax December 24th, 2011, 12:29 AM Nice video skytrax! How was your flight with Iberia? Compared to TAAG?
The service at Iberia are quite bad, and the airplane are sooo old. TAAG is definitely a better choice, I have to say.
The big advantage is that they offer more transportation weight and tickets are much cheaper at Iberia.
Nidia January 3rd, 2012, 01:00 AM Oh i see! so Iberia seems a quite a good choice...

agostinho January 6th, 2012, 07:59 PM Luanda airport isn't that busy it's actually very narrow in terms of the airport building this problem is going to be solved in few years, This new year the first stage of the new airport of Luanda is supposed to be open, as to the traffic, my dear forummer, do not just underestimate it, if you go to Forum Africa and sub-forum African aviation, you'll see that for the past years Luanda airport has been in the 20 Busiest Airports of Africa on the quarters or semesters of the year despite its size and it has already improved a lot, of course a lot needs to be done yet.
skytrax January 6th, 2012, 08:22 PM ^^ Isn't our narrow Luanda airport busier than his beloved Khartoum one??
lady gaga January 7th, 2012, 08:36 AM ^^ Isn't our narrow Luanda airport busier than his beloved Khartoum one??

lady gaga January 7th, 2012, 03:03 PM I wish?? I think you're the one living in a fairytele. Our "narrow" airport is busier than yours!! (search for yourself)
Why would i search if i knew the truth :|
lady gaga January 7th, 2012, 03:04 PM How many airlines flying to Lud?? 6!!!
skytrax January 7th, 2012, 03:29 PM Why would i search if i knew the truth :|
Then I sorry to say that, but you're being an ignorant.
How many airlines flying to Lud?? 6!!!
You wish!! 23 or 24. And KLM will start next years when TAAG will star operating in Berlin.
Only between Luanda and Europe there are 68 flights (or more) a week!!!
Btw, Luanda airport international code is LAD and not Lud!! I see you know a lot about aviation.. :|
lady gaga January 7th, 2012, 03:34 PM Then I sorry to say that, but you're being an ignorant.

Khartoum international airport is serving nearly 32 different airlines true is sudan airways is very bad but the foreign airlines cover the lack of sudan airways and British Airways is going to fly to KRT so is Oman Air
lady gaga January 7th, 2012, 03:35 PM Btw you can enter Wikipedia to make sure of my information compare the size of airlines in KRT to LUD
skytrax January 7th, 2012, 03:47 PM Khartoum international airport is serving nearly 32 different airlines true is sudan airways is very bad but the foreign airlines cover the lack of sudan airways and British Airways is going to fly to KRT so is Oman Air
Is not the number of it airlines that is important but the number of its frequency per week. For example: Tap has only a single route (Lisbon-Luanda-Lisbon), yet they have 24 flights a week flying between both cities!! That more than what 3 single European airlines do at Khartoum airport! And TAAG has also another 24 between Luanda and Portugal (Luanda-Lisbon-Luanda and Luanda-Porto-Luanda)... That's already more than what 6-10 airlines can do at Khartoum airport!!!
skytrax January 7th, 2012, 03:54 PM Anyway, here is an outdated statistic table of the busiest airport in Africa, before the upgrade of our airport!
http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/7734/15612201.png
I guess I'm seeing Luanda increasing when Khartoum is falling..
:tiasd:

Gulf Air have thrice daily emirates have 2 daily same is saudi arabian and royal jordanian and Syrian air egypt air obly by its self have 5 dqily flighs and Kenya Airways have double daily and so on. Tap have flights equal 10 airlines in krT  !!!!!
skytrax January 7th, 2012, 04:20 PM I'm talking about the European destinations only!! You know, 777 and A340's... 1 TAP's 340 = 2 Qatari's A320...
skytrax January 7th, 2012, 04:21 PM I'm still waiting for your comments about the table I posted.. :|

Matthias Offodile January 10th, 2012, 11:43 PM some info update on Luanda´s most mysterious project its NEW & GIGANTIC international airport...but it is not a phantom but truly u/c...first phase will open in 2012

...with 31 airbridges it will even be the largest in Africa - in terms of size...I am not quite sure of Cairo´s and Jo´Burg´s, though. How many airbridges do these airports have? Lagos has 15.

The area could be used better...it is never good to have an airport close to a city...that´s why the new one is more than 40km away ...in most countries airports are not centrally located due to safety reasons....and new airports that are built are almost always far off from city centres.
The demolishment of the old airport would be perfect and the whole area could be transformed into a nice tropical public park or a vast entertainment complex for families and tourists.

It seems to me that the actual airport is in the poorest area of Luanda nowadays, that would be a probrem for building an entertainment complex or other kind of enterprises directed to middle classes.

Matthias Offodile September 21st, 2012, 08:24 PM Really, I am yearning to see the new aiport which is under construction...this aiport would have been very good for the 1960s but not for 2012! As I said earlier it is high-time!!!
skytrax September 21st, 2012, 09:49 PM Come on Matt, currently airport doesn't look bad at all! Of course it doesn't give anybody the "WOW" effect, but you can't really say that is bad, do you? I guess you have no idea of the reality of that airport 4 years ago..

:?
Angola is not Burundi or Chad....hence, one would expect more than that...airports are the first thing that foreigners see when they enter a country, they should have somehow a woow-effect.....this airport is a joke, I am sorry for being so rude and honest....but for a city as big as Luanda the airport is a disenchantment.
Luanda should have an airport like that in Durban http://dmm.travel/fileadmin/media/news/luftfahrt/La_Mercy_Flughafen_in_Durban.jpg which I posted in the Durban thread, too....I am not asking for Johannesburg, btw.
In the meantime, I am eagerly awaiting the new aiport.:colbert::)

Hellooooooooooo are you living in the moon?! :bash:
Of course you are fully aware that a new airport is u/c, so I don't really know what you are complaining. They did an upgrade on the airport for ACN2010, and knowing you the airport wat 4 years ago, I'm more than happy with the results. Specially knowing that a new much bigger and better is on the way.
skytrax September 21st, 2012, 11:11 PM Podes crer...4 de Feveiro has come a long way, believe you me.
E como, meu amigo. :)
Matthias Offodile September 22nd, 2012, 12:06 AM Hellooooooooooo are you living in the moon?! :bash:
(...).
So am I living on the moon when I say that Luanda should have an airport the size, efficiency and modernity like that in Durban? I don´t think so.
I thought you aim for the good of your country instead of being filled with glee when you see an airport that could be any "village" aiport.
As I said, I am eagerly awaiting the opening of the new airport that would suit a city like Luanda way better than this makeshift solution.
skytrax September 22nd, 2012, 12:47 AM Did Durban go out of a 30+ years war?? They are building already the new airport!! I honestly don't understand what you are complaining about. The new airport coming dude..

I just can´t understand that you seem to like the current airport even if it has been improved, it still looks wack, let´s be honest...Luanda merits something better than this.
Hence, I am waiting for better times while having a cup of tea!http://smilys.net/kolobok_smilies/smiley1737.gif
