The Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai's primary cricket stadium, is currently getting a reconstruction for the 2011 Cricket World Cup. As part of the renovation, drainage is being improved, the main entrance is being widened, and capacity is being increased by demolishing and building anew the North and South Stands and refurbishing the East and West Stands. There will also be a new roof covering the entire stadium. When the reconstruction is complete the stadium will look like this:

dude, it looks awesome... is this pitch long enough to host soccer matches, as I dk cricket field dimensions ???

I believe the smallest oval in the world is in Wellington, and it can easily host soccer. So, yes, it can.

this is a small stadium only capacity of 45000 in the city of get lost and also this is going to host the final....
navi mumbai stadium can hold 55000 people, it'll be a good chice for the final and not much work is needed

it's not the same if you look at the "wankhede 2011" video released by mid-day way back in 2009 or so.....acc. to video....two tier stand is der...

Well good pics but i still believes that its not the kinda stadium which can stage a big event like finals but thankfully its completed now the standard of construction is not upto mark they just try to copy the Gabba

Looks like the capacity of Wankhede Stadium has been reduced to 33,317, which is a disappointment compared to the anticipated 45,000. :bash:
