Since I couldn't find a topic about this tournment in this forum I decided to create one, I can also create topics about WC 2002, Euro 2000, etc. Let's take a trip down memory lane...

The decision to award this Euro to Portugal was taken in Aachen, Germany, in October 11 1999. There were three bids, Portugal, Spain and a joint Austria-Hungary bid. The three bids logos:

I voted for Da Luz, but Bessa was a close second because of the 2-2 game we (Denmark) played against Sweden.

Da Luz stadium, I love this type of stadiums like Da Luz and Emirates face to Allianz Arena design...same for Alvalade but I don't like the thing with the color cocktail...
Also a plus for Bessa stadium for the steep stands.

Btw the bid logo was awful.

I actually agree with you, even the Euro: 2000, 2008 and 2012 are better than the 2004 1.

I'm a huge fan of the Estadio de Dragao, not just as the best of this tournament but as one of the best looking stadiums in Europe as a whole. Everything about it just seems right - nice clean lines, the single tiers behind the goals with no executive boxes etc on them. Awesome stadium!

Euro 2004 was surely one of the best football tournaments so far. Excellent job Portugal!

I like Alvalade, simply because I attended a match there and haven't at any others...

Like others said, EURO 2004 was one of the most succesfull tournament from the last years.
And the stadiums from Portugal are a good example for everyone who want to build a modern stadium with a decent price.

Portugal certainly built impressive stadiums and it seemed like a good tournament (i missed it sadly). The best tournament of recent memory though, by far, is Euro 2000. Of the big 2 (euros and World Cup) it is probably the best since Mexico '86. Ah, the memories of Zidane & co., Spain vs. Yugoslavia, Holland vs. Italy....

It´s not my team (Sporting that plays in Alvalade) but I have to choose Dragão. It´s a beautiful stadium. Just like Axa Stadium!

Yeah, damn, I had some trouble in the summer that Euro 2004 was played :( so It was kinda a at least half missed tournament for me, but I'm happy I got to see at least half of the knock out games and the final :).

Dragão is the best one, for me too. Axa is unique, agree, but to be honest I can't see anything beautiful about it.

I tend to think both of Oporto's stadiums are the best aesthetically.

Always had a soft spot for Estadio do Bessa but Dragao is so classy.

Did you know that Bessa is currently on Portugal's 2ª Divisão (third division) and with artificial grass?

My favorites: Dragao and Axa Stadium

Dragao stadium is perfect, like a stadium should be, not a big concrete monster and not too small. Is just perfect

Axa stadium, is very interesting, different to any other stadium.

Voted Arsenal's Luz, ups no sorry , Benfica playes there :P . Dragao is beautiful too.

Axa stadium is absolutely horrific piece of stadium design. Don't know how can one vote for it.
