View Full Version : Logroño| Is there a 300 metres tall radio mast?
Obelixx January 15th, 2010, 12:20 AM According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longwave , there is a 300 metres tall radio mast at Logroño, which is used for longwave broadcasting on 207 kHz. As I kno, there is and was never a longwave broadcasting station in Spain although there are some frequiencies coordinated. Does this transmitter really exist or is this a fake!
>100 kW
alexbn January 15th, 2010, 07:44 PM ^^Cadena SER, Radio Rioja.

Does this transmitter really exist or is this a fake!I don't know whether this transmitter exists, but what is for sure is that in Spain there are no LW stations. The MW stations in the area are Radio Rioja, one of the stations of Cadena SER, in 1179, Radio Nacional de España in 729 and Radio 5 Todo Noticias in 1107.
Is there any possibility of the transmitter you mention being prepared for LW?
Cicerón January 15th, 2010, 09:24 PM Yep, there are two antennas here. I don't know how tall they are but no way they are 300 m. Location: 42.442815, -2.512106.

Cicerón January 15th, 2010, 09:36 PM OK, I tried to measure it with a CAD program. The small line on the door is 1.83 mm long, the antenna is 78.95.

Considering that the door could be as much as 2.3 m tall, the antenna would be about 99 meters tall. If it was 300 m tall, the door would be almost 7 m tall, which I highly doubt.
As far as I know, there are no more antennas in Logroño. There are a few more in the rest of the province (La Rioja), but I don't think any of them reaches 300 m. Maybe 300 metres above the sea level
