You are telling right! You felt what I,m feeling too.
Many Many of building which located in HK island
are blue, light blue or deep blue.
For exsample: BOC, Cheung Kwong, Lippon center,
The center, AIG, 1&2ifc , Four season HSBC etc.
I think "Blue" is a easy color to accept it.

Byt the way, which building with best facade color matching in HK?

What about the color matching of Central Plaza (Golden & Blue)
, Shun Tak center(Red) and Far East Fin. Center.(All Golden) etc.

The render looks like an erect penis. The actual building, on the other hand, looks very classy and high quality. There's been no "cheaping out" on this building at all. Another gem. Just one of HK's signature towers in Toronto would do wonders for the skyline.

HK is crazy... so many 300m + buildings and even more buildings going up. There's over 400 forty storey + buildings (over 400ft) in the New Territories alone... not even counting HK island OR Kowloon. That really says something. It just boggles the mind.

The-Real-Link
November 5th, 2005, 03:05 AM
I've been following this tower for awhile off and on and I do have to say that although the renderings left me a little skeptical, the (almost) finished product is quite grand! Maybe it's just the nice blue glass but the tower carries a very strong sense of verticality. It'll be sweet to see when it's all done.

Great update SanMiguel, I haven't seen you post in quite some time!

That picture clearly shows the dominance of Nina Tower. It just soars over everything and those shorter towers around it are not even short buildings themselves....30, 40, 50 storeys. Very much considered "highrise" buildings in other cities.

so i couldn't post or edit most of my pics from that time.
But now i finally have new laptop and will show u some nice aerials soon

Looking absolutely stunning.

I just realised this will be Hong Kong's second tallest building to roof on completion. Central Plaza, Bank of China and The Centre all have spires going higher but Nina Tower pips them all to roof, with only 2IFC being taller.

can i ask a silly question? how come nina tower is FULL height and there is NO sign of clading? did they order it? truck get lost?
in Australia the cladding climbs upjust slower then the floor plates. this wil atake ages to complete.
btw, great pix

They did take a long time with the cladding and I have no idea why, but it's almost completely covered in glass now (check a few pages back for the most recent pictures).

SanMiguel
November 27th, 2005, 02:21 PM
@CULWULLA
i know what u mean, i also often see that in Australia or the US the cladding starts much earlier...
on of the Chicago Eastlake projects they still start the cladding though the tower has only 10 (of around 65) floors yet.

and on the other side in Bangkok there is a whole building's concrete finished but no windows at all.
Then came the asia crisis...and now it stands there like this(below) for long...
(and it's not the only one)

But i have no clue why some start cladding earlier and some wait till topout
maybe we should ask a construction worker or architect :dunno:

I think it's just a pecularity for this building. 2 IFC's cladding was rising very quickly along with the tower. The bottom floors were already open and the showroom was available before the top parts were completed.

Tsuen Wan district is mostly residential and industrial buildings and until recently, there were no supertalls. Most buildings were 20-40F with residential-standard floor heights. Therefore there weren't really any buildings over 150m in the area. Now that there are 50~70 floor buildings being constructed in Tsuen Wan, it is getting a less boring skyline. Then we have Nina/Teddy tower as the focal point.

I'm enjoying the redevelopment of Tsuen Wan.

Think Nina Tower is going to be my new favourite in HK! Can't wait to go back again this year. I remember seeing it when I was on my way to the airport. One fine building! Hope that Tsuen Wan gets a proper skyline soon! I think It will be a real nice skyline, especially with the mountain backdrop.

People travelling on the airport express might mistake Tsuen Wan for the main HK skyline but get an even better surprise when they get towards Union Square and then HK Island....

It would be really cool to see a nice (and recent) panaorama which includes the Nina tower. How about a time lapse series of the updates too? Anyone game to make this as the first post of the second edition of this thread?

Awesome tower, I like the sky-bridge thing! Are there going to be glass floors on the bridge, because that would be freaky!

Nina Tower with a better view (mountain background) than 2IFC (HK island). Do you agreed ?
