Hmmm...I think it will be
1. Penang
2. Ipoh
3. KL
4. Taiping
TYW May 12th, 2004, 12:17 PM Penang is the only state in Malaysia with the majority population of Chinese. I think KL also has the majority of Chinese.
the state of sabah and sarawak have a lot too;)
THT-United May 13th, 2004, 04:04 PM I think in the Valley, the cities with the most Chinese include (not in particular order):
1. Kay Ell
2. Pee Jay
3. Klang & Port Klang
4. Cheras
5. Kajang
6. Ampang
7. Kepong & Selayang
8. Subang Jaya
9. Rawang
10. Puchong
Kevinkhoo1986 May 14th, 2004, 06:09 AM i think i will go for Penang :) eventhough Malaysia has one of the highest percentage of chinese living in the country, but the percentage of the total population reducing dramatically in this few decades. Just after out country got independence, chinese represent 38% of the total population but had reduced to only 25% nowaday and still reducing :( This was due to the lower fertility rate and married latter. For instance my grandfather has 13 children but now each of his children just averagely has 2 children.
Kevinkhoo1986 May 14th, 2004, 06:12 AM In the past, KL was dominated by chinese but nowaday the malay population has outdo the chinese population in KL. And the gap is getting wider!
ZaHiRnYa??? May 14th, 2004, 06:20 AM In the past, KL was dominated by chinese but nowaday the malay population has outdo the chinese population in KL. And the gap is getting wider!
Hmmm...I didn't notice that. :?

KL still has an ethnic-Chinese majority but Malays are cathing up as more of the population are emigrating from the rural areas. This is based on the population statistics by DBKL for year 2001 which I somehow lost it :D

Well.....most probably have the same reason as the Chinese .....looking for greener pastures early last century. The British brought most of the Indian from Southern India to work in the rubber estates as latex is one of Malaya's largest export........ ;)

I never been inside an estate before :(
But I always have in mind that Klang have the largest Indian population in the whole of Malaysia. Is it true?

Yupe!! :D . IMO, i think it is about 15%-18% of the Klang total population. In some area like Taman Sri Andalas, the percentage is even higher, more than 30%. That's why Klang is one of the city in Malaysia with the highest crime rate too :D. Personally my house been burglared twice in one and a half year period and the burglar is Indian. I am not prejudice of Indian but just trying to tell the true :D

Any place with big slums regardless of race sure got some cases like that lah...I do hear Klang does have gang fights and burglaries in those squatter areas ..I hope there is a remedy soon :)
btw, the indians also has kept Klang Valley's streets and commercial areas safe and alive with their 24 hr mamak restaurants which are in every corner. ;)
Kevinkhoo1986 May 18th, 2004, 02:28 PM The most recently was an old lady died after car accident because the old lady and his daughter try to avoid the thief by speeding her car. The incident in Jalan Kapar, just a 1 miles away from my house. So pity :ohno:

yea......but mamaks are not really safe even they opened for 24hrs as no one cares if the house opposite the mamak gets burgled or something. ;)
In Klang, the gangs are not only Indians but also Chinese. There are lotsa Chinese0based gangs in Klang as well. To me Klang is like a cowboy town :D
Anyway Kevinkhoo is probably right as places with a majority of Indians tend to be higher in crime rate as they are the most disadvantage ethnic group in Malaysia by having the highest poverty rate. :(
But this had changed as ethnic Indian middle class is on the rise and the recent crimes are now done usually by immigrant workers (Indonesians and Bangladeshis). Big ticket ones are by South Americans and Africans are usually involved in those 'black money' scams. So I guess putting ethnic Indians here as the cause of theft is wrong although they could be the root in the past ;)
But my dad did chased an Indian man (with a his car while the man ran :D )snatching an Indian lady of her gold necklace at Lorong Maarof, Bangsar a few years back. He was never caught but Bangsar remained to have one of the highest snatch-thief rate in KL. Perhaps the huge Indian population there gotta do with it? :D Actually no as most are middle-class and the richer ones....and the fact that Brickfields doesn't posessed such high crime rate despite it being the Little India Suburb of KL proved otherwise ;)
You'll be the judge........ :)
Kevinkhoo1986 May 18th, 2004, 05:15 PM yea... my aunt fell down after she was pushed by a thief when she trying to struggle with the thief. But it were in vain, the thief got her purse. :( By the way, it is dangerous to chase a thief especially trying to catch and fight with the thief. You father must be very brave enough to do it :D

errr....my dad did not fight with the thief......he was chasing the thief with his car while the thief was running away. Of course my dad couldn't hit him as the car would crushed the thief so he chased until the thief was tired. But the thief went into some alley which is too narrow for my dad's car to pass thru. :( ....luckily the girl whom he steal from wasn't hurt :)

ZaHiRnYa??? May 21st, 2004, 06:22 AM Cannot read :D
Does it say anything about Taiping by any change?
Kevinkhoo1986 May 21st, 2004, 07:08 AM Sorry no Taiping in that chart :D that just indicate all the districts in Selangor.
liping_t May 21st, 2004, 07:32 AM I sense MightyBoy is intrigued by the Chinese in M'sia.
Well, in my opinion....the Chinese in Malaysia see themselves as Malaysian First! Just so happens our ancestors were from China.
But, praise be. Malaysia is such a good country that each race is seen as essential to what Malaysia is today. No assimilation here. But the revelling in our seperate identities, yet united under one common flag and dream. The Malay as first, the majority! The Chinese as the 2nd most populous, and the Indians as third.
Each different, yet special.
I'm proud of Us.
