The Etisalat Tower in Sharjah, UAE. It's my favourite not-so-tall building. It is supposed to resemble the Babylon tower.

Umawi November 10th, 2002, 08:58 PM I give it a 9.8/10
Sunflower November 10th, 2002, 10:54 PM Looks good and somehow manages to look graceful with that massive golf ball on top...
7.5/10
how tall is it btw?
RafflesCity November 10th, 2002, 10:55 PM 8/10
Weird, but I like it.
SteelCity32 November 11th, 2002, 12:16 AM whoa, very exotic looking. Golf Club?
8/10
Umawi November 11th, 2002, 02:05 PM It's the Sharjah headquarers for the Etisalat Company, the largest communications company in the UAE. It's 17 floors high.
ryanr November 11th, 2002, 02:14 PM It's very unique!! I like it! 8/10
luis4083 November 11th, 2002, 02:26 PM elegant design
9/10
Polskafreak November 11th, 2002, 04:43 PM 8,5/10 unique for a 17 storey building
DrumCorpsAlum November 12th, 2002, 06:01 AM 9.5/10. It's incredible! Very unique indeed.
250gto November 12th, 2002, 08:33 AM This building should be twice as tall as it is. It would look much better proportioned. And I don't know what it is, but it just looks fake. You know what I mean? A lot of newer Asian and Middle Eastern skyscrapers just have that feel.
A nice design, though. I'd give it an 8...but because of that GIGANTIC golf ball (what, is it a driving range?) on top :puke:, I'm going to have to downgrade it to a 5. Whoever decided it would be a good idea to put that thing on top should be dragged and beaten to death in a packed soccer stadium.
Shockwave November 13th, 2002, 09:37 PM Looks very cool
Caledon1981 November 13th, 2002, 11:01 PM 6/10 with the Titleist . . 9/10 without it
SUNNI November 17th, 2002, 08:19 AM hmmmm......dunno sorta weird but i like it..forgot what i gave it;)
AG November 18th, 2002, 07:49 AM Now that we've got a golf ball building, all we need now is the club. :D
Very interesting shape, and nice colours.
8.5/10

Bahraini Spirit December 28th, 2002, 11:55 PM Interesting design. the ball on top is found on every etisalat building in every emirate. i would give it 8.5 out of 10.

Monkey March 18th, 2003, 08:05 AM Thank you, Eric! I LIKE that Tower with a Ball on top! :okay:
It would have been nice, though, if you had provided a bit more information about it: height, date of construction, architect, type of use ... but even if all that wasn't easily available, you should at least tell us one thing, please: WHERE is this tower?
From its appearance I would guess it's somewhere in the Middle East. Is that right?
In that case, the architecture is perfectly suited for its local setting & therefore give it an 8.5.
renell March 18th, 2003, 09:42 AM 7.5 for having that golf ball on the top of the tower.. but the concrete part of the tower, the sides, is ugly :(
The Messiah March 18th, 2003, 04:43 PM I don't like it at all. With or without the damn ball. It has concrete almost all over it.The ball looks ugly too, only it looks ok when it's dark. 4.50/10
RafflesCity March 18th, 2003, 11:03 PM 6.5/10
It looks like it could be really exciting, but those huge concrete sidearms really kills it...
BoresvilleMcYawn March 19th, 2003, 12:16 AM I have noticed that many of the new skyline in asia and the middle east are littered with towers that have revolving restaurants and all these balls on top..
An attempt to look futuristic?
looks like crap...
I give this one a
6.9
SteelCity32 March 19th, 2003, 01:17 AM it's not very tall, but I like it...
7/10
Wu-Gambino March 19th, 2003, 01:35 AM The only thing I like about it is the glass. 3
Daniel8ty8 March 19th, 2003, 07:31 PM It's an ugly building, but it makes a great tee.
I give it a "fore" point five.
Golf puns: Is there anything better?
Evergrey April 10th, 2003, 02:12 AM What a fabulous and innovative building ruined by ridiculous ornamentation at the top! A golf ball!?!?!? As much as I love the building... I just couldn't imagine seeing a giant golf ball in the sky all the time... so I'm going to have to give this a 5, unfortunately.
BGT May 10th, 2003, 07:47 PM 3.5/10 I hate the ball.
The Messiah June 27th, 2003, 10:01 PM Yeah, wtf is a golf ball doing on top of a skyscraper? :baaa:

DUBAI September 1st, 2004, 03:36 AM The ball is a neccesity im afraid, etisalat is the uae's only phone company, they have 1 or more towers in every state in the UAE, and every one has a ball, its like a symbol!
Þróndeimr September 3rd, 2004, 09:58 AM Very nice and very unique, but i don't like the ball. 7/10
