I have already voted for this one on another thread so I am not going to vote again. What I will do is say that I like it and that it have a very interesting design.

I saw this building in the thread for the Bocom towers ....love the design of this one but the base is too big...still interesting though...8/10!

It's a very interesting design. I particularily like the top part with the reflective glass. I wish there was more of a smooth transition between the wide base and the thin part above it. It looks kind of like one tower was stuck on top of another one. There isn't much coherence between the two sections. In any case, I still like it a lot: 8.0/10

Still not the greatest in Shanghai's Pudong district but still worthy of recognition.

Always looks so different in every pic I've seen of this particular tall.

Looks stunning in the night pic and I also like its crown.

BTW The Japanese designers Nikken Sekkei have a great reptuation for constructing quality structures worldwide.

7.5/10 - Interesting design, and the top part of the tower is very nice and sleek; it really dances with the light. Dmac, you have a point about the the two parts of the tower not quite fitting together, but I'm not quite sure how I'd fix that.

At any rate, all the light stone in that lower section does provide contrast to the darker glass, and it seems to look better at night, when it seems a lot less massive, almost ethereal. It could have used a few setbacks so it wouldn't look quite so blocky. As it is, it hurts the height a bit.

Actually, though, I think that little structure stuck on one side of the tower's base might be even less harmonious, though it seems to have some good details.

The worst thing IMHO, however, has to be that gawd-help-us cheesy roof, for which I deducted about a half a point - it looks like they forgot to finish a few of the top floors! Fer cryin' out loud, doesn't ANYONE know how to put up a really good roof/spire/crown these days? That seems to be one of the most common problems I've seen in the towers I've looked at - it's as if the architects run out of steam right before they reach the top...:rant:

I like the smooth glass facade and the way it slots into the granite base, but it doesn't look that good from some angles. . . 8/10

I like the fact this building has combined 2 different designs.
I stayed in the Grand Hyatt in the Jin Mao tower on the
78th floor. The view from my room looked straight down
on this building. So, it holds a special place in my heart
since it was right there out my window. It has a futuristic
look to it. The top half is my favorite section.

The glass at the upper half of the building is great, but the concrete whitish facade at the bottom just spoils it! What a waste.. I tink it would look better without the withish base.. :rant:

:baaa: This building called bank of china, it also belongs to the bank of china group.

The base is very ugly. If I were them I would've kept one side, but left the other side the curved glass. That wouldve been much much better! Thats actually what i thought it looked like, with one side still curved because before I have only seen one side in all the pics.

Oh well I give it a 7.5

nothing remarkable, just really nice and interesting. I like how the base gives way to the second stage, a good way to balance economics with style. Looks good with its sister tower. The blue tinted windows are nice, but the white facade looks bad pretty fast

I really like this tower. I think it all fits together well. The soaring reflective top tower is a nice contrast to the angled but sturdy base.... great combination IMO. I prefer this toned-down roof to alot of other styles especially when the bldg is interesting enough on its own. If they were to build an equally flashy top or spire, it'd be too much. Great facade, color and location. This beauty does it just right!

The transition from the bottom to the top is well executed, and it gives an original building, much less weird-looking and much more classy than Tomorrow Square. The night lighting is very well done for such building. Classy, and a very good complement to Bocom.

Hmmmm.....interesting design I suppose. I am not sure about their choice of shapes on this one; a triangle and an ellipse not really the ideal combination here nor anywhere for that matter. In addition, the combination of these two forms looks a little heavy-handed to me; they don't fuse together fluidly nor elegantly and this does not facilitate any sense of sweeping upward motion. The different detailing furnished to the two sections further enhances this friction. The proportioning is also off; while the elliptical section is graceful, the triangular section is far to large in its width thus ending up over-bearing with its influence over the design. From some angles the bottom segment overwhelms the design entirely.
