From the DA:

The applicant proposes to establish a mixed use tower comprising a total of 60 residential units, 112 hotel rooms, shops, offices and restaurant over sixteen levels on the subject site.

I can't upload photo's from work, however I thought I'd start the thread while I had the information. The design however is a fairly generic box which I don't think is an issue as in Kelvin Grove, all your attention is on the ground floor anyway.

The views from the top would be incredible.

Will try again later.

^^Open in new Window, then go away from your computer for 10 minutes and come back again...that's the only way I could get it to work.

To be honest I don't think it would be that out of place in the KGUV, and that is more because other buildings in the area have some very distinctive features, so something of a more muted style could be warranted. Thing is that at 16 stories, it could be rather tall for the area(Village centre across the road is only 8-9 stories) and stick out, especially as it is on a prominent corner and situated along the key corridor through the entire area.

Side note I thought the hotel was meant to go further out the back (towards Vic Park Golf Course), but it has been a long time since I read the plans.

Surely something so mediocre cannot be approved by BCC??

Excuse me whilst I go and hurl.

Honestly, I know these are tough economic times but is that an excuse to let standards fall through the floor?

This has been approved @ 12 stories and 49m. Still includes the hotel and restaurant and is still quite concrete.
