CULWULLA May 19th, 2004, 05:48 AM only early days but recent pre-DA discussions for the cnr site of bthurst/castlereagh streets indicate an apartment tower of upto 50storeys and 150m. the 3 sites which inlcude a 8storey bldg,2 storey ANZ and heritage listed 5 storey Porter House from 1976.-obviously this will be intergrated into podium.

also another discussion is for a 20storey opposite (next to Euro Towers).the existing 8storey bathurst House will be pulled down.

muse-the 235m scraper i planned was another block south, cnr Liverpool/Castlreagh sts.
the tower will rise above a podium similar to Rialto in size and height.

Trances May 19th, 2004, 09:12 AM Great news there Cul, early news from you means long wait
And intergrated base is a great way to keep the feel of the old city
Hate to lose some of those great fronts,
Only 50 floors ! Little Higher please :)
Still thats all good.
MrTall May 19th, 2004, 09:21 AM Now that's cool. How does the council feel about this? Does it have any chance of staying at 150m or would they preferably see it reduced?
Sydguy1 May 19th, 2004, 09:33 AM Lol its Sydney city Council.Of course reduced is always better.
In Sydney city council Mentallity
235m high skyscraper=Disgusting and pathetic idea :speech:
35m high skyscraper=A totoally Brilliant Concept God Forbid we have anything of Vision or anything that stands out in Sydney City that would just be to evil to think about. :nono:
Regards Sydney City Council :D
Fabian May 19th, 2004, 12:01 PM This is good news and will fill the remaining gaps in the Bathurst Street skyscraper wall. These developers have not underestimated it's potential one bit.
AltiusAltiusAltius May 19th, 2004, 12:29 PM Not another skinny one! (Rialto looks like a toothpick from Kings Cross or D. Harbour! LOL)
Demolish bloody Porter House (can't see why it is heritage listed) and erect something solid! ;)

beacuse its a pre-DA, the design/concept would of been scrutinized already by pre-meetings over past 12 months or so.So atleast the council will be familiar with DA. -height shape ect.The tower will be shadow tested being next to Hyde Park and providing the tower doesnt impact the park, this one should get through. I reckon it should get away with a height of 120-150m, depending if they angle roof ect.
Muse May 19th, 2004, 01:31 PM Don't Council have half of that info on Hyde park already? :|
...and that ANZ thing. Along with the National Bank down on the cnr of Liverpool & Castlereagh, in a city this size we have these things that you can find out at Broken Hill.
:bleep:
Trances May 19th, 2004, 02:00 PM Broken Hill is a nice town !
But Yes one story building whats up with that ! At least its better than a hole in the ground.

Porter House is a VERY rare significant Victorian warehouse style architecture in Sydney. It is probably the oldest in the city.Built in 1876 its now 128 years!
i thought it was a great move by the developer to incorporate Porter House, not only will it give more floor space to the tower but the devlopers will recieve bonus points for restoring the heritage bldg back to original granduer.
So if they didnt purchase porter House they might of only been able to go to 35 storeys, but now 50storeys is more likely!!
Muse May 19th, 2004, 11:56 PM A) Broken Hill is a nice town !
B) But Yes one story building whats up with that ! At least its better than a hole in the ground.Part A, yes....Part B, nup (and not of that quality)!!
