My mum bought a fundraising pack back in March. They had a very sweet taste and the pack I had with this light coloured icing tasted alot like a chocolate donut. Cannot wait to have more.

When I was in Sydney a couple of weeks ago, a friend told me to pop into the Penrith Store on my way back from the Blue Mountains and buy some. They are HEAVEN!!!!
If you like donuts you will love them and if you have a sweet tooth you will love them.
I will recommend the normal ones that have a really thin glaze over them, you will be hooked.
I love donuts anyway, and all I can say is that my waistline is happy that I live in Brisbane, although I did look into a franchise ASAP. There you go, thats how nice they are.
By the way, it is quite disappointing that there are no franchises available in Australia, so whether this lot have bought the rights for the whole country I dont know! Smart people!!

for gods sake:
(1) They're only doughnuts
(2) They're nothing particularly special! Just at extra sugar and fat to a regular cinamon doughnut. Done.
and people complain about McDonald's killing people. sheesh.

I dont know how Krispy Kreme has done it, but there has been some insanely smart marketing behind this product. They dont advertise all that much, but it seems to be a word-of-mouth thing. Yes, they are very nice donuts, but they are just donuts!. How did the marketers get every man and his dog telling everybody they know about these bloody donuts and how (exadurated) good they are? Is it the name 'Krispy Kreme'? Or something working on our subconcious that we dont even realise! For fucks sake i live a good 30-40 minutes from Penrith and I know people that live near me who drive all the way up to Penrith just to get Krispy Kremes! Its crazy! Look at the cue in Culwullas photo!
Thats my two cents, excuse me while i go downstairs to the fridge to grab a Krispy Kreme Donut that my sister got at the new city store yesterday.

I hope the queues die down soon - I work right near there and I like Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, but I'm not gonna wait an hour (which was allegedly the waiting time yesterday at the store's grand opening) just to get some!

The Liverpool store is open 24 hours a day! with a drivethru!!!!
The line to get into the drivethru often spills onto the Cumberland Hwy.
it is just unbelieveable how many people go there (and no matter what time of day either)
and you see people comming out with 6 dozen doughnuts

Not sure, but I know Adelaide has drive through cig stores.
And yea I was also told a while back that a Maccas is in the vicinity of 1-1.5 $mill. So to hear a Krispy kreme going for just under, must be pretty popular over there.

Cull KrispyKreme has been around for AGES.. for almost a year? The Penrith store opened ages ago. Followed by the Liverpool one.
Cant believe u havent tasted it yet. Apparently people from parts of Sydney trekked all the way to Penrith just to buy these donuts! They are beautiful!
Anyways i remember when Penrith opened up... the line was kilometres long...

does the KK in the city have the donuts made there on the spot.
At Penrith and Livo the whole process can be watched through glass... its quite amazing watching the donuts travel from one end of the machine to the other where the fat worker places them in boxes!

Yeah, they must be made there because you can smell the aroma of fresh donuts from a fair distance away!
There's apparently a Krispy Kreme outlet at the International Airport - I'm picking my parents up from there tomorrow, so now I can go a little early and check it out! :D MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM ;)

Why on earth is it the Sutherland Shire?
doesn't it have a population of over several hundred thousand???
I live in a Shire too - Cardinia, but it's population is like 60,000 (whereas "nextdoor" the nearest 'city', Casey, has about 160,000 people - I always thought the bigger the population in a relatively small area, the more likely Shires are 'upgraded' lol)

I had one at work today...the Wynyard store is right near our office, so when it's time for some sort of memorable moment, one of the secretaries pops down in the lift and comes back with a box or two of Krispy Kreme's, lol.
Today one of the guys was leaving for a new job, so we all celebrated his success and wished him the best by eating doughnuts! Actually, I felt kinda sick after I had one - they are very rich!

No icing for doughnut employees
By Nick O'Malley, Workplace Reporter
August 18, 2005
Krispy Kreme doughnut workers were bullied into signing individual contracts that left them thousands of dollars a year out of pocket, two former employees have said in submissions to a Senate inquiry.
One former staff member, Thea Birch Fitch, 22, wrote that she felt she was "left with no choice" but to sign the agreement.
"I sat in the manager's office in tears whilst I was told that I had to sign the agreement or I wouldn't get any hours and I wouldn't be promoted," she wrote.
Her submission to the inquiry into Australian Workplace Agreements said that under the contract she signed workers could be expected to work 10 consecutive days without overtime pay, work more than 12 hours without overtime and work split shifts without overtime.
Ms Birch Fitch said that as well as losing allowances for uniforms and transport, she was paid $53 a week less under the contract than she was paid under her award.
The Federal Government is pushing workplace agreements as part of its proposed workplace changes. The Prime Minister, John Howard, says they will provide a more flexible workforce and a stronger economy. While it is illegal to force workers to sign such agreements, the state secretary of the Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees Association, Gerard Dwyer, said it was common for workers to be put under pressure.
Another Krispy Kreme employee, Jasmin Smith, wrote: "My manager approached me every shift and asked where my signed agreement was."
Ms Smith, who was 18 at the time she was presented with the agreement in 2003, said that she lost overtime rates between 12pm and 6am, fixed Saturday loadings, 50 per cent penalty rates on Sundays and a uniform allowance. Her base hourly pay rate was also cut.
She said that on the day the Penrith Panthers celebrated a minor premiership win in 2003 she worked 16½ hours without any overtime loading.
She later resigned after lodging a sexual harassment claim against a manager, which she says was ignored by Krispy Kreme.
The two submissions were prepared with the help of the union.
Last night a spokesman for Krispy Kreme denied any workers had been forced to sign individual contracts. He said those on contracts received hourly pay rates above the award.
"All [agreements] are assessed by the Office of the Employment Advocate to ensure that no employees suffer any disadvantage working under those terms and conditions," he said.
"Any allegations of inappropriate behaviour are taken extremely seriously by the company, addressed promptly, thoroughly and dealt with in accordance with a clear published procedure made available to all employees."
The secretary of the ACTU, Greg Combet, said the "holy grail" of the Government and business was to eradicate all penalties and allowances through workplace agreements.

mad! Imagine owning a franchise!!! ohhh...the money!! although the initial hype will wear off in Melbourne, customers will keep flocking there, especially when other stores open up, its funny, even after what a few weeks, people are still lining up for 1.5 hours for donuts, when it first opened it was 3-3.5 hour wait, in that time you could have flown to sydney, bought some donuts, and be back in time for tea ;-)

No doubt today tonight or a current affair will do a report on it, do a lab test and find that more sugar is in the donuts than a can of coke, I cant remember how much sugar is in a can of coke, but you would be very suprised, I think it was 2 tablespoons of sugar, thats pretty amazing considering the size of a can, no wonder we have diabetics and overwieght pricks roaming the streets in search of more foods to quench their hunger...

though it does have a lot of sugar it is less than many other drinks...
sugar/100ml (kJ/100ml)
Coke: 10.6g (180kJ)
Boost Blueberry Blast 14.8g (302kJ) [a regular sized one (650mL) is a quarter of the recommended daily calorie intake for 70kg male...]
Pop Tops Orange Drink 11g (187kJ)
Berri Juice it Up Grasshopper 11.1g (200kJ)
McDonalds Chocolate Shake 13.2g (336kJ)

The Ribena one is intersting, I know it's sweet, but to have that much sugar is pretty amazing, maybe the coke is healthier than the so called "health food" then again Ribena is meant to have a lot of Vitamin C in it.

Well that was the original plan you know. I was also planning to bring back a whole load of Starbucks stuff and sell that too, only to find out that a Starbucks was opening in the city (it opened yesterday), and that it wouldn't be worth it.
But Krispy Kreme Donuts were too good an investment to sell. ;)
