I think I had posted a thread about it 5 years ago, anyway this is one of the greatest projects in Iran.

The largest domes in Iran are being built there, the Grand Mosalla of Isfahan has 8 minarets and at the head of two southern ones there will be 11 floors of museums and 3 large halls.

How much is this going to cost? I don't think there's really any need for this...

BTW are you sure this is in Esfahan? Don't they have a similar one in Tehran?

We have enough mosques in Iran. There are many places and people which need this money.

I am pretty sure this in Tehran.
And they already sometimes have events like book fairs here.

Mosallas are being built in all major cities of Iran, but this one in Isfahan can not be compared with other ones, the Grand Mosalla of Isfahan was chosen as one of the best structural projects in the world in an international symposium entitled "Structures for the Future - The Search for Quality", Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1999.

these buildings are outstanding, and they are only so much "given attention" in design and cost because they are mosques. the gvrnment will never build something like this that is not a mosque

I went passed there last week. It is not going to be used as a mosalla anymore. Part of it has become a mega shopping center with 100s of personnel. It is called Hyper star.

80% of the glass is installed, i wish they used a far lighter shade, this dark blue doesnt go with esfahan AT ALL, especially with all those yellow bricks that dominate the city :ohno:

Really ? all of the domes and minarets in esfahan are blue...what are you suggesting a ugly yellow glass ?

this is a dark industrial blue

what a minute, 800 billion rials?????????????????? + 52 billion already spent!!! ???? thats almost 130 million dollars, or was, at least
with that money , you can so soooooo many good things for iran, so much money for schools, hospitals, poor people, orphanages, roads, houses, etc

I see your point. Concrete generally does not go well with anything, let alone blue glass. Maybe they will be adding some sort of designs or cladding or who knows what.

Like I said our problems are cultural. just read the posts, and see how disrespectul iranians are to each other.
