Alvin, if you have time - silly comment since you're gonna be there for 5 months, take a tour out of the city. Try to go to Zhou Zhuang (water village) and Suzhou and Hang Zhou. The constructions that you will see along the way will amaze you. I stumbled upon Thong Xiang on my way to Jing Zhen Water Village 2 months ago and was amazed at the construction of the whole new city. Apartment buildings by hundreds and hi-tech convention centers built in the middle of nowhere in Zhe Jiang province.

When in Shanghai, please don't forget to visit Xin Tian Di and the Grand Hyatt hotel in Pudong. The lobby on the 56th (or 52th?) floor is just breathtaking...a visit to the bar on top of the hotel is also a must. The bund looks quite different from the top especially during cloudy night.

I will go on and on about Shanghai.....

yes, I agree , it seems to me that for every skyscraper constructed in Jakarta, there are 50 in Shanghai, and probably 500 for the whole of China. Crazy!

And yes, i've been to Xintiandi...its great! I'll visit the other places soon, and maybe take some photos for you guys.

Hey GreyX, after looking at some condo projects in the Phillipines forum, I think I have one comment to make - that is, you have to distinguish between 1st tier and 2nd tier projects. 1st tier projects are located almost exclusively in the CBD, aesthetically brilliant, and priced at a premium - these are the projects that I actually bothered posting here, including Sudirman Place, SCBD Mansions, Capital Residences, The Peak, Airlangga Residences (Ritz Carlton), Bellagio Residences + Mansion etc. These apartments are priced between Rp1 billion - Rp20 billion. If you look at the 2nd tier apartments in Jakarta - located in the suburbs, priced under Rp1 billion - even as low as Rp150 million sometimes - the designs are crap. examples: all the "Mediterania" apartments, Puri Garden, Salemba Residences etc...
(Arguably , there are those that lie in the middle, such as Sudirman Park, Casablanca Mansion, Senayan Residences and Hollywood Residences.)

Obviously 1st tier apartments are usually much more limited in supply , the only exception being Jakarta :D
But I think in the next 2-3 years we'll see more 'crappy' developments as high-end developments are currently already over-supplied, IMO.

Good point there...i do agree with you. The better looking condo projects in MM are the 1st tier projects.

for correct information the highest point would be around 170 meters
we would place the pinnacle crown up there with steel construction and install the lighting fixture... the commercial floor is 42nd stories and the 43rd is the roof of 42nd penthouse, and the 44th is the engine/ME/Lift room and the 45th floor is the foor of 44th floor also the pedestal for the crown construction..
sorry to dissapointed u guys, but it's not true if the building's tall is more than 200meters, but maybe if u count the zero point from the foundation(Basement 4th level) it could reach 200m, but we always count the zero point from ground level..

I use imageshack, this is the instruction to upload pic. I guess other hosting server works the same:

1. first you have to register to imageschack,
2. then upload your pic into their server
3. imageshack will give you the url link of your uploaded images.
4. post the url here in this forum

170 m? hmm..well i wasnt totally dissapointed to be honest..kinda expecting it...cus it doesnt look that tall, well at least it doesnt look as a 200+ M tower..

no.. althought i always dreams to make it higher, but we can't just add something up there to make it the highest building in jkt, coz everything already settle from the first time like the construction design, the raft foundation capacity, and also the IMB and TPAK recomendation from Dinas P2B jakarta. we only have permittion to built the 42nd stories building.
But it doens't matter, coz i've got many experience to built something like these
that its right, The Ritz is the highest Building in Jakarta, eventhought it's only have 42 or 44 floors but whats make it the tallest building in jakarta?
because mostly it have 4.25 m floor to floor height, and sometimes even more than 4.25, the construction design is made by HAERTE Design.
The peak? i think the peak is not gonna be taller than ritz coz it only have 3.0m something floor to floor height... eventhought it have 55 floors..
the tallest would be Menara Jakarta, but it's different coz it is tower.. not commercial building like these... just like malaysia got menara kuala lumpur (the third tallest tower in the world) and also The Petronas Twin Tower ( i believe it still the second tallest building in the world).

is it for commercial office building? and how big is the size?
as i know the retail space up to 28,000 sqm...

the second tower would be KONI PUSAT Office, becoz everything we build around Gelora Bung Karno should be related to sports. just like plaza senayan have bowling & billiard centre, STC Sports mall, athlete century park eventhough it's only have "athlete" name..
it's not commercial building, becoz it is the KONI Centre Office... it have 8 floors, starting from 11th to 18th and 19th is the roof..

The Ritz is the highest Building in Jakarta, eventhought it's only have 42 or 44 floors but whats make it the tallest building in jakarta?
because mostly it have 4.25 m floor to floor height, and sometimes even more than 4.25, the construction design is made by HAERTE Design.

The peak? i think the peak is not gonna be taller than ritz coz it only have 3.0m something floor to floor height... eventhought it have 55 floors..
the tallest would be Menara Jakarta, but it's different coz it is tower.. not commercial building like these

Wouldn't count on it though, I think the Peak will be just 218 m tall...but we'll see.

Wow, thanks for this info. I've always wondered how tall Keraton would be...I assumed that it was part of the Plaza Indonesia Extension project, so its around 47-48 stories. Never heard that its going to be an 88-storey icon!! wow!

Actually I'm quiet pesimistic with this Keraton project, this kind of project usually gets to meet its major pitfall which is "cancelled" due to
1. not efficient space vs cost
2. landscape problem
3. and don't put a church on it, it will cause problem later on hehehe
4. correct me if I'm wrong ^_^ or you can add more reasons in the list ^_^

yeah i know..the usual stuff..always cancelled...but one of these days we will have a supertall yaknaw..so why not this time...

are you sure this is not mis-information? as far as i know, the two towers will be 47 and 48 storey tall. Check the plaza indonesia extension thread for rendering.

sorry guys, just came back from holiday..
hmm.. the crane was gone about 2 month ago, u guys just realise that?
it doesn't matter coz we already setting it up, like the facade(window wall, concrete panel, etc) we already put it up there... the crane have to be go down first coz gonna affect our landscaping if later...
i just wanna apologize if the info i give u guys may not be accurate, but that's all what i heard, they will built the exclusive 88 stories condo, two condo only on every floor, and not just the story i heard but i also have read it on some magazine/newspaper.... but, maybe they just don't have permition from the government, so maybe they just built half of it...i really don't know what's happening...
hmm.. i have some news, the sudirman place maybe will be open before christmas, maybe in the begining of december, so maybe u guys should check it out later, there will be some changing in the facade of sudirman place in one or two weeks, but will be stop around idul fitri, but we'll be speeding again a week after idul fitri...
so, that's all from me.. and i still have some trouble uploading picture here, coz my internet connection seems to be very2 slow when uploading, so i keep try guys... u'll see it later, the interior of sudirman place...

that's the pinnacle foundation, a 2.5meter pile cap slab that poured 3800 qubicle metres of reinforce concrete.. the prosess takes 3 days non stop.. i just wanna give u guys some knowledge that it takes larges foundation to make such a tower (168.3m)

full speed so we're be able to soft opening in 15 december 2005.
that's the news for now.. so sorry again for being so late accomplished these project, coz this is a big big project.. we experiencing of many resistances to finish this project. but we do not retreat. we remain to try to finish this project.
soo... in 15 december 2005 i hope we'll be able to do the soft opening for the sudirman place mall.. i hope u guys support and pray for us to success.. thank u guys a looot!

hmm.. we already start the project, and that's true we finish the interior first, and testing commisioning the Mechanical Electrical, and testing the plumbing, soon finish the cladding facade.. so maybe a little late or slow but we do not stop.. that's the information i can give u guys...

take a look that the sky view from the "dome ceiling" is actually changing during the time with the color of sunrise, sunset, and nite.. except for the "green" color that we choose it for the creepy night hahahaha..

I'm a little confused though... your slideshow suggests that the name of the departement store is 'Nichols Edwards', but on the latter slide, there is a picture of a woman holding a bag says 'Nicole Edwards'.. :)

Either way, I think its very exciting that we finally many highend mall mushrooming Jakarta's CBD. I even wrote a short post on Jakarta mall in my blog lol.
