There's the one which was U/C and its supposed to be around Buruburu (I haven't checked it out yet though I heard its now open). this one is the typical mall with Tuskys as the anchor store and many other shops. Naivas eastgate is in Doonholm, Just after Jogoo road junction with the road to JKIA. Its just one of those hypermarkets with a departmental store layout. It's not a mall IMO. desert burner March 5th, 2010, 06:24 PM Actually Eastlands has two Eastgates. Nakumatt has taken over woolmatt stores now and there are rumours that it will take over some stores in Uganda as well. And it opened three new stores at the same time last week. In Eldoret, Nanyuki and Kakamega. It reminds me of a time back in 2000 when Uchumi supermarket was the leading chain and opening various stores around Kenya when a friend of mine jokingly told me that these supermarket chains will one day lead to the closure of open air markets and estate kiosks. Obviously, I laughed at the suggestion but today, Im not too sure. Even the small towns have been hit by the 'supermarket craze' and due to economies of scale, one day it may be cheaper to buy even vegetables at the supermarket effectively kicking out the 'mama mboga' from the supply chain.:ohno: |
