In March 5, 2010, it was reported that an 11-year old child from Azerbaijan bearing the name of Heydar Aliyev had acquired properties worth approximately USD$44 million in Dubai. According to the Dubai Land Department, the owner of record not only has a name that matches Ilham Aliyev's son but the registered birthdate matches as well. A spokesman for President Ilham Aliyev declined to comment on these purchases
