View Full Version : MELBOURNE: College House
Grollo November 12th, 2002, 03:26 PM This 23 level tower is on track to be completed by July 2003. Only a couple of floors to go:

In the foreground is the Urban Workshop site and the building on the right is currently being demolished to make way for the tower.
Here is the site for Landmark Tower (25 levels) right next door. With only 40% of apartments left it should start construction soon. Both of these sites are very small and it's good to get some extra density out of these smaller sites:

It's a 20 or so level Student Accomodation / apartment tower on Lonsdale Street, directly opposite where the Urban Workshop tower will stand :D

Property Investor March 12th, 2003, 04:28 AM Tays,
Sorry for my delayed via satellite response to your question,
but College House is near completion - just doing the finishing touches in the apartments. Looks to be ready for settlement June/July.
We have not been selling these apartments for almost 3 months with Aldy because we only chose about 5 floors to sell.
However because now I have started to do some work with another company I have stumbled across College House again and was very surprised to find a lot of units still available for sale. Considering that the student accomodation business is pretty strong very much in demand, I was shocked!
Anyway thats all I can say for the time being.
Mannie.
Duff March 13th, 2003, 09:49 AM does anyone know what the end height is? cause skyscrapers.com is blank
silvermb May 22nd, 2003, 12:57 PM thats about all she wrote for College House. An attractive building for student accomodation considering the excellent design of Landmark Tower will rise up next door sooner or later.

lol!
hah what a piece of fugly trash, I havent been up there in months to have a look at UW - hah@ Shell-House-like blank wall - DIE!
thank god for Landmark though!

silvermb May 22nd, 2003, 01:28 PM had it crossed your mind that they had to build a blank wall as Landmark would as well. Wouldn't want my window looking into the window of a building 1m away (unless I happened to be looking into the apartment of two hot randy lesbians  I I:eek: ). Still no excuse for the western side, it all comes down to $$$$$ in the end.

well Mr. Silvermb - had it crossed your mind the same concept could have been employed when Masterful Harry designed Shell, yet we see, how many years later? the fugliness of blankness is still there ? ;)
smack. down. :nocrook:
silvermb May 22nd, 2003, 01:43 PM many times Tays, but then i remembered it was Harry S. Besides masterful is not the word that comes to mind when Harry rears his concrete clad head.
Grollo May 22nd, 2003, 01:54 PM I've seen worse hehe. It won't look too bad when Landmark tower goes up (if they can ever find a builder who will build it for a reasonable price, could be a long wait!)
Duff June 5th, 2003, 04:28 PM not that any of you probably care hehe, but anyway...
theyve almost finished painting the cement sides of this building, and theres a a damn bright orange stripe half way up! i didnt think itd be that bright. The wall does look slightly better now that its painted though.
Aussie Steve June 6th, 2003, 01:53 AM It also looks like there is some action on the site nextdoor and another further west near the corner of Russell St. Maybe more cranes along Lonsdale Street? Yipeeeee
silvermb June 6th, 2003, 02:20 AM melbourne city apartments site further down Russell, workers onsite this week, possibly another in the queue ready to go u/c.
Aussie Steve July 4th, 2003, 03:23 AM I think we can safely say that this development is completed, although its neighbour is about to start (I think).

here's hoping Landmark will get going soon!
...so it covers up one of the fugly walls on College H.
BigVman July 4th, 2003, 08:45 AM Are they going to sponsor that West wall or what? ;)
Aussie Steve July 4th, 2003, 01:33 PM Sorry guys. I spoke too soon.
The site next door is still as it was. No action.
But further down the street, there is action a plenty with wrok occuring at 380? Lonsdale Street (between Russell & Exhibition Sts) Its a very small site, but maybe another "College House"! Does anyone know anything about the development?
tayser July 4th, 2003, 02:35 PM ...ahh Melbourne City Apartments [not to be confused with Melbourne and City Towers down at Southbank Central] - or something like that ?
Grollo July 4th, 2003, 05:31 PM Melbourne City Apartments, 16 levels:
http://www.skyscrapers.com/files/transfer/6/2002/01/138226.jpg
Aussie Steve July 5th, 2003, 12:15 AM Yep, thanks guys, thats the site I walked past that had action a plenty yesterday afternoon. Its a very small site, which is a little bit of a concern, but who cares, another highrise :D
PS Katz apartment tower 160 Little Lonsdale Street, east of Russell Street was at level 3 or 4 yesterday afternoon. I think its a 10 storey building.
http://www.haoyah.com/cpnet/ereal/img/Kat-ext.jpg
Aussie Steve February 26th, 2004, 06:58 AM We have a crane up and running at Melbourne City Apartments, Lonsdale Street!
Aussie Steve May 14th, 2004, 05:17 AM The Katz Apartment tower in Little Lonsdale Street has been completed and it doesn't look too bad, but its not too good either.
The crane for Melbourne City Apartments is moving along very quickly with the building at level 8 or 9.
Aussie Steve June 18th, 2004, 08:16 AM A quick update on Lonsdale Street
Landmark Tower (next to College House) is back in action. A machine is in the deep pit excavating again. Let's hope construction of this tower gets a move on quick smart.
Melbourne City Apartments is now at level 10 with no core visable, but hey, at least its another highrise to fill Lonsdale Street.
PS Katz Apartments has been completed some time now. Pitty it wasn't a little taller and more interesting.
