Citi Mall needs to revamp its exterior, looks well dated.?

Doesnt make commercial sense for the developer currently. There are way too many malls in Andheri-W and atleast 4-5 malls under construction in the neighbouring areas of Goregaon- W and Malad-W.Citimall caters to lower middle class with some unorganised shops. Even fame Adlabs (in Citi Mall), the first multiplex of Mumbai, is the chepaest in the area.

May be revamped after 5 years as it is in a coveted location.

Is that Mithi River running past Mega Mall?

just simply don't understand building malls on such massive plots.........instead build mixed-use supertall towers which includes retail, hotel. commercial office spaces, residential etc. can be occupied in single supertall structure say 400m -450 metres and it will solve the problems of land which is expensive and scarce in metropolitan city like mumbai

Might pose threat to Inorbit Malad,if it gets the right brand mix and multiplex, though Inorbit has the location advantage.

India’s biggest plex to open in Mumbai in two months

To cater to Indian cinema that generates thousands of films a year, tinsel town will soon be home to the country’s largest multiplex. Located in Thane, the 14-screen theatre will commence operations in two months. “With the amount of small-budget movies releasing these days, such a theatre will give an even platform to all films,” says Devang Sampat, head of strategies at Cinepolis, the Mexico-based multiplex company that apart from the 14-screener in Mumbai, is also opening a 15-screener in Pune. “The mall is currently being readied in Thane. We hope to launch both the properties within two months.”
These two megaplexes are the first of six being planned in India. Apart from these, Cinepolis has 16 screens in India and plans to open 50 digital ones by year-end. Apparently, the company, which is celebrating its 40th year of operations, plans to invest about Rs 130 crore in the country.

Of the 14 screens at Thane, three will be VIP screens and the rest will host regular shows. “The VIP ones will be smaller, with reclining seats and separate lounges and washrooms,” says Sampat, adding that a few more theatres are being finalised for Mumbai.

The ticket prices will be on par with other multiplexes and will change from morning to evening shows. Though Thane may not seem accessible to many of the city’s movie-watching crowd, Sampat is convinced the concept will work. “The area has major unexplored potential. The level of acceptance of varieties of cinema is also a factor, since we will be screening regional movies as well,” says Sampat, adding, “On an average if we screen six films a day, we will have 84 shows. Effectively, that means there will be six shows every hour and one, every 10 minutes.”

Mumbai : The city added 8.50 lakh sq ft of mall space between April and June 2011,even as retail mall space supply in India saw a 65 % growth during this period, compared to the earlier quarter.
Most of the supply that entered the market was concentratedin Pune, which added 1.2 million sq ft of mall space.Bangalore and Chennai together added 7 lakh sq ft, said a Cushman & Wakefield report released on Thursday. In Mumbai,a new mall (Infinity ) recently opened in Malad.
The citys mall mania began over a decade ago, when the first mall,Crossroads, opened in Tardeo in 1999.Since then, more than 100 medium and large malls have come up in Mumbai,Thane and Navi Mumbai.Five more are expected by the year-end.
The report said Lower Parel,Goregaon and Malad may witness a further rise in rental values, while Andheri,Vashi and Ghatkopar are expected to remain stable. The expected mall supply in the city was approximately two million by the year-end.The main streets also registered heightened activities, due to which Linking Road,Kemps Corner /Breach Candy and Colaba Causeway saw a rise in values over the previous year, it added.
In the last quarter, national and international brands looked at expanding operations, especially toother tier 1 cities such as Pune,Chennai and Bangalore, where their presence was limited. The growth of mall space supply in theselocationsis also the result of an increase in domestic and international migrant population, which has created demand for retail products, said the report.
Pune led the pack in supply of mall spaces (1.2 million sq ft) with the start of Phoenix Market City on Nagar Road. With a steady rise in population, andincreaseddemand from retailers to be present atthelocation,Pune may see a further rise in supply, with an expected addition of approximately 2 million sq ft by year-end.Vacancy levels in the city were, however, high and given the anticipated supply, may rise further, creating a supply-to-demand mismatch, thereby affecting rental valuesfor the area negatively, it said.
In the national capital region, mall rentals remained stable due to limited vacancy and no new supply, but high streets like Connaught Place and Greater Kailash IM Block registered growth in rental values.Khan Market remained stable and perhaps the most expensive main street in India at a rental value of Rs 1,200 per sq ft per month. With limited vacancy,Khan Market is expected to see a further strengthening of values, said the report.
In Bangalore, most locations saw an addition of approximately 3.75 lakh sq ft of mall supply, launched with full occupancy.
As a result, vacancy levels remained controlled and also contained rental values of locations.High streets,on the other hand, saw upward movement in rental values given that most notabletransactions took place in these locations.Bangalore continues to attract retailers due to its regularly growing population, it added.

The full action sequence before the interval in this week's release 'Force' is shot in Oberoi Mall, Goregaon. It also has few scenes in Inorbit, Malad and Fun Republic Andheri. It should be available in youtube in few days

Oberoi mall has become a favourite among advertisers and film industry, may be due its interior layout (looks big and grand, though not really) and probably due to friendly policies for shooting.

Interiors of newly opened Infinity-2 definitely better than balnd exteriors.

Easily the largets mall in western burbs (may be larger than phoenix minus palladium) with good collection of brands - cK, Guess, Zara, Veromoda, Tommy Hilfiger, Jack n Jones, Charles & Keith etc. Definitely a spoiler for the highly succesful Inorbit Malad, which till now commands the highest mall rentals in the country in non-luxury category.

It was pretty early in the day at around 10:45 AM. And the mall is yet to get popular. Being a large mall, it has to attract crowd beyond its neighbourhood, say Andheri to Borivali, just like Inorbit, Phoenix or Rcity.

It's indeed a huge and wonderful place. Have been there couple of weeks back.
As someone rightly pointed all it needs to do is attract more and more brands.

and people of Borivali kandivali have no choice of Malls. So for them it comes as a boon

India's most stunning malls

That is rediff's recycled article. This was published atleast a year back probably by Business Standard. tehre may be many new larger malls now. Infiniti Malad and Phoenix Kurla will be definitely larger than Inorbit Malad. Phoenix market city in Pune and Bangalore, Ambience Vasant Kunj may also be larger.

Express Avenue Chennai will be in 2nd position right after Mantri.

PS: I think they include Hypercity (which is next to the mall) for Inorbit Malad. Phoenix, Lower Parel has added more retail space now with Palladium annexe.

I think they have not included Hypercity.
Also the article does not talk of overall mall size, I Guess it considers just the retail space. It does not include walkable area food courts etc ?

Yup, it is only the retail space. There is a high probability that Hypercity is included (I have seen it in one of the published stats of a retail consultant and ofcourse as a regular visitor, I feel it is higher if we ignore hypercity. Hypercity may have a GLA of around 75000 sq ft)

Nevertheless, the location and brand assortment of the mall is excellent. There is no landmark mall in Bandra W- Andheri W zone, arguably the most lucrative retail market in the country (though teh smalls malls in this zone are pretty expensive). Inorbit still commands the highest rate for a non-luxury mall in the country inspite of competition from Infiniti 2.

Infinity 2 is definitely bigger (almost double than inorbit)

bandra to andheri is too expensive for a big mall (doubt there is just a big chunk of land there anyways)

Phoenix, Kurla claims to be the largest mall of India in an ad in todays' Bombay times. Seems to be true with the huge list of brands.

Phoenix has taken a gamble here by building a large mall in such a location given the traffic conditions. It has tried to attract people from western burbs in the ad claiming that it is just 30 mins from Juhu/Lokhandwala and 20 mins from Bandra W/Khar..lol. In weekends, it would take 30 mins to just navigate Juhu Tara Road or Lokhandwala market road.

If PVR brings in Blu-O there is a chance to attract people from westen burbs. Most of the brands are already available in western burbs. Have to say, that the mall has an ultimate collection of brands..
