The above exibit is exaggerated (not by much) to make a point: In keeping with the spirit and intent of this GTC subforum it is suggested that images be posted which contain at least a single subtle clue within, like skylines or street level scenes.
Someone actually started a thread with this beauty.

This is preposterous! Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting that pictures of Paris with the Eiffel tower, San Francisco with the Golden Gate bridge, or Sydney with the opera house be posted, but something less myopic than the samples cited above, some of which appear in "skylines only" threads.
I also realize that forumers are reluctant to post images that would be solved on the first guess by one of the leading "wiz kids" of the forum, but there should be a reasonable alternative between the two extremes. If you're unable to post a challenging image within forum standards, simply skip the photo altogether and ask us to guess what city you have in mind.
:soapbox:
WonderlandPark March 20th, 2010, 10:59 PM I agree with the first two, they were totally absurd. the others at least give you a littlechance, a gothic spire and trees was difficult, but not impossible. The collapsing house suggests that it is a decaying old city...like Detroit, not impossible. In general, I agree with you. The street from above is absurd, so is that facade with gold seal on the balcony.
As for the first photo of the brick wall:
I will guess: Toronto, Madrid, Osaka? ;)
snowman159 March 20th, 2010, 11:09 PM the brick wall: san francisco, panama city ? :D
PanaManiac March 20th, 2010, 11:10 PM the brick wall: san francisco, panama city ? :DNope. Earth!
travelbug March 20th, 2010, 11:25 PM I posted the Detroit picture right after a discussion about Detroit, it was to prove a point rather than a serious "GTC". I have to say this is my particular bete noir.

It is ridiculous.
But I have a solution and that is I realised it was stupid and refused to guess it. Then the thread dies if we all decide not to guess it.
Sanarok March 21st, 2010, 01:54 AM I consider everyone can post any pics and if it is interesting people will try to guess anyway..It`s free world..

I was offended that you would even post a picture of my house before I was able to clean the yard!
travelbug March 21st, 2010, 02:52 AM Hey I knew you were so proud of your handyman skills and wouldn't mind the odd errant leaf.

desertpunk March 21st, 2010, 11:26 AM BTW, apologies to the OP of this thread for detouring off topic. I didn't anticipate going from the trouble guessing a wall or a tree to having sex with drugged women. Sorry.
travelbug March 21st, 2010, 11:35 AM Wow, you were already having sex?
desertpunk March 21st, 2010, 11:37 AM Wow, you were already having sex?
You mean you didn't noticed my bad typing?
travelbug March 21st, 2010, 11:56 AM You have a lot of sex if bad typing is a symptom!
desertpunk March 21st, 2010, 11:59 AM Yep, I pound the keyboard "like the fist of God"!
travelbug March 21st, 2010, 12:15 PM Surely that is blasphemy unless God likes to fist?!
desertpunk March 21st, 2010, 12:20 PM Ew, I never really thought to ask but since I am off to bed, no time like the present...
PanaManiac March 21st, 2010, 05:15 PM You could post a picture of a stick in the mud and some would find that interesting, but that's besides the point...
http://i39.tinypic.com/mw4mmh.jpgIs that supposed to be a stick in the mud?
BTW, apologies to the OP of this thread for detouring off topic. I didn't anticipate going from the trouble guessing a wall or a tree to having sex with drugged women. Sorry. No apologies necessary, all I wanted to do is shout at a brick wall.
travelbug March 21st, 2010, 05:54 PM And a mighty fine brick wall it is. Is this better?
http://i41.tinypic.com/33uzgjb.jpg

desertpunk March 22nd, 2010, 01:37 AM No, he's still in his concrete abutment along the Lodge Freeway. Hasn't got out west yet.
travelbug March 22nd, 2010, 01:39 AM you would think with all that free time he would travel more.
desertpunk March 22nd, 2010, 02:15 AM you would think with all that free time he would travel more.
Nah, he's happy as long as they keep pouring. ;)
