Its the winter residence of the queen and her husband. It consists of 4 identical manors, build in 1750 for different families, but in 1794, after Christiansborg Castle burned down, the royal family bougth the castle. In the middel of the square there is a statue of King Frederik V.

King-Tomislav June 22nd, 2005, 02:03 PM I'm familiar with it form Sim City. It's good looking but lacks some activity, seems like there's noone there on the square so it looks a bit empty. But overall good. 8/10

BTW if You ever venture to Wonderful Copenhagen look for the buildings with raised flags... that indicates Royalty present!
And feel free to ask the guards general questions about Amalienborg ( yes, they are allowed to answer, but not everybody is willing to :) )

TropicofCapricorn November 20th, 2010, 11:28 AM Gave Amalienborg a 6.0. I visited Kopenhamn many ages ago, in 1976. I wasn't that impressed by Amalienborg from the outside back then too, but the inside is impressive.
