no. 1...

the outer structure of no. 3 appears to have no use, other than to mimic the swiss re. this is a firm no-no.

no. 2 might as well not do anyting.

no. 1 would be the best choice as it could look rather unique. looks korean :)

either number 1 or 3
number 2 looks very retro in a bad way.

No. 2's design is similar to World Tower in Sydney

They seem to look like pencils.

Anyway, no 3 looks out of this world. In comparison, no.2 is conservative yet graceful. No.1 is somewhere in between.

Having said that, No 1 is my choice. :) ...they can do something about the color though. ;)

I actually liked #3 the most and I think it would give the building some height. BUT I choosed #2 as that are lacked of such architectural style and I think it would have looked more graceful and distinct in that area. ;)

Furthermore #1 & #3 is kinda blue and there are too many 'blue buildings' around that area :D

You just happen to hate blue colored building la Sze. I don't think no 1 is actually blue in color. I have to go for number 1.

Btw, are they really going to refurbish that building :?

In terms of the design, number 3 is the best for me.

I'll buck the trend and go for no. 2! It reminds me of Central Park in Perth mixed with some hongkong skyscraper and Komtar... Furthermore, the design complements its immediate neighbors (City Hall and EPF)...

Amazing renovations to spruce up one of KL's oldest skyscrapers! Much better than Shahzan Tower... Btw, never realized that Menara Commerce is just behind...

No.3 is my choice..In my opinion, not many buildings in this world have this kind of design, it is an awesome design. It reminds me 30th St Mary Axe in London:)

dont you all think that no. 3 should not be done because it's so obviously inspired by the swiss re?

Wah........I actually like blue-coloured buildings a lot (with the exception of the MARA building) :bash: :D

Examples of famous blue-coloured buildings I like is World Tower (Sydney), Empire Tower (Bangkok), Phillip Fox Towers (Auckland), Rialto Towers (Melbourne), Wisma Selangor Dredging, Menara TA One....etc....... ;)

Wow, looks like a rocket going to take off! But yeah, this design really got its inspiration from the Swiss Re...

The 3rd design is by no doubt fabulous, but I feel that at its location, it might alter the present settings of the area. (quite close to the Padang area as well)

The present Pernas building whilst being an imposing skyscraper is hardly as flamboyant as the proposed idea. Will the design be too much to bear for the aesthetic eye? …just a concerned thought. ;)

The skyscraper should, after all, blend in with the surroundings while portraying certain distinctiveness as well. In this respect the building should rather be, if possible, more high-tech or ‘intelligent’. :)

Anyway, I am also constantly reminded that my views are founded only through assumptions based simply upon dreamlike architectural renderings. Cheers!

sorry for being a wet blanket, but i dont think its a very good idea to copy something so extremely unique and beautiful... if it were less unique it copying would be less... um less... subject to verbal abuse..

argory
June 11th, 2004, 08:28 PM
I don't think it was copied entirely, inspired may be more appropriate. ;)

All three designs are wonderful (well done, architects), but each has its suitability and hopefully that will be taken into consideration. :)

Btw, will this poll actually have any effect on the final design? :?

szehoong
June 12th, 2004, 12:59 AM
well.....at least there are some Islamic design to it........its shape might resembles of Swiss Re but thru my imagination....the final product would looked very different from Swiss Re as the shape of the refurbishment are shaped by non structural external element ;)

Simon
June 12th, 2004, 04:27 AM
Really hope the so called "Swiss Re" inspired design would be the one..in fact, we are still not sure which design would be selected right?

After all, as Toyko tower can be inspired by Eiffel tower. Then why not menara pernas? :D
