Looks like gravitation didn't let the buildings grow ;)
But anyway, the city looks very nice.
Tiny skyline, but skyline...4/10

Quite dense, but flat... Skyline isn't impressive, but it's a nice city anyway. 5.5/10

It's OK for a smallish city.

However, it does have the bland, boxy modern buildings which characterize many New York cities outside NYC.

Upstate NY. Home of the Orangemen. I didn't realize the population of Syracuse was that large. I like the greenery surrounding the downtown area. Where is the university in relation to these pics? I gave it a 5.

See the Carrier Dome on that Hill to the Right in this picture. That Hill is the SU Campus and those high-rises are mostly dorms. Remember that the Carrier Dome is an "on campus" facility.

A guy by the name of Josh12322 took these photos on SkyscraperPage, so credit him with the pictures and they are not mine, I am merely displaying them.

Personally, I think the skyline is actually pretty good for a city of under 200,000, which is what Syracuse's population is. I went by it on a bus coming back from NYC, and the skyline/downtown looks VERY LARGE in person. But not all of the buildings are that real impressive, so I would personally give a 6.
Doesn't look like too bad of a city, really.

I guess Syracuse must have been on the list already when I posted the poll, sorry for the confusion, at least you have a few more pictures to work with there.

syracuse looks pretty nice. it looks even more impressive as you drive north on i-81. brown is never good for buildings, and the more brown the worse i think of it. but overall i like the skyline and it looks large enough for the city's size.

Seems like your average, but very pleasant, American skyline. If the buildings were a little more elaborate, I think it would deserve an 8 or 9. As it is, I give it a 7. My points come from the pleasing layout, greenery, and the fact that Syracuse is a gorgeous place from street level, but so much a dazzling place when viewed from afar.

asshole...you're from freaking PA. Anways, Syraucuse's skyline is definetly lacking in height, but it's not too bad for a city it's size. Although Utica, about an hour east of Syracuse, with half the population. has a few that are high enough to stand outl. I'll give it a 5.5.

Syracuse is not that impressive from a distance because it doesn't have much height. At the same time I remember being there many times and thinking that it had really good vibrancy and cool short older victorian buildings everywhere. It seemed pretty active and happening on the street level downtown actually. I remember thinking that I wished Minneapolis had a neighborhood away from downtown that was like downtown Syracuse (besides uptown -this was back in the day). It is like downtown St Paul if downtown St Paul was full of street level activity and didn't have to compete with Minneapolis. It has the same architecture as downtown St Paul with MUCH more street action and interesting small businesses in the old buildings. I have always respected Syracuse. It is pretty hip too for it's size and location, moreso than anywhere else in upstate New York. It is a cool, largish college town. If it wasn't stuck in upstate New York it would probably be booming, happening, and rather Madison-like; alas...

For a small city, not bad. The Carrierdome on the skyline gives it a bit of big-city feel, even though the buildings lake hieght...good density, though. 6

I second this. For some reason it doesn't seem to photograph well, but when you see it in person it does seem bigger than it looks in pictures. The density is really impressive in person, and it does feel larger than it when you are there. It's quite urban as well.I've always liked Syracuse,I give it a 7.5

This is as far as my camera could zoom in. If someone has a better camera, try zooming in for a closer look. It actually looks bigger than this when you are there. Taken from a park in the northern suburbs. Syracuse, NY skyline from a different view
