TACLOBAN CITY - Bumisita dinhi ha Tacloban hi French Ambassador to the Philippines Thierry Borja de Mozota kun diin gintapo naman ini han mga higtaas nga opisyal han siyudad.

More budget hotels rising

Property giants Robinsons Land Corp. and Ayala Land Corp. are putting up more hotels in the Philippines due to a bullish outlook on the country’s tourism sector.

Ayala Land Capital and Hotels group head Jose Luis Jalandoni said the company had lined up five boutique hotels for launching this year amid the large potential of the tourism industry.

The company is building the hotels beside its commercial centers in Bonifacio Global City, Trinoma in Quezon City, Ayala Alabang, Davao and Cagayan de Oro.

Jalandoni said the projects would feature 150-room hotels each with minimum amenities like meeting rooms and a restaurant. The company hopes to complete the construction of the botique hotels over the next two years with local tourists as the main market.

Jalandoni said the price range of the new hotels would be lower than five-star outfits in Makati. The company has not finalized the hotel rates.

Gokongwei-led Robinsons Land Corp., meanwhile, plans to open two more budget hotels next year.

Robinsons Land president and chief operating officer Frederick Go said the two budget hotels are in Palawan and Tacloban City.

The company is set to open its first 200-room budget hotel on May 19 along Pioneer Street in Mandaluyong.

The company said clients could avail themselves of P88 rooms through early reservations as an introductory price.

Go said the company planned to put up budget hotels beside its shopping malls.

Robinsons Land operates four hotels in the country, namely Crowne Plaza Galleria and Holiday Inn Galleria in the Ortigas business district and the RLC-managed Cebu Midtown Hotel and Summit Ridge Hotel in Tagaytay.

Robinsons Land also plans to open two new shopping malls next year in Pangasinan and Palawan provinces.

The company opened three malls in the six months to March—Dumaguete in Negros Oriental, Ilocos Norte and Cebu City.

The new malls increased Robinsons Land’s gross leasing space by 44,000 square meters to 1.5 million sq. m., with 800,000 sq. m. available for lease arrangements.

The company operates 29 shopping malls nationwide and plans to open two to three malls each year.

its not really surprising since Dumaguete is a university town :)

Leyte ICT Park is in Palo (5-8 kms south of Tacloban)

Hindi pa open ang swimming pool sa public. Inopen lang para sa wimming lessons na offer ng MILO. Pagkatapos ng MILO i-oopen na nila sa public. Hindi ko alam kung ilan ba ang bayad. Pero pag mag jo-jogging ka walang bayad. Free entrance. All you need is to log-in and log-out. :D Mayda pa ito music ha grandstand kun mga late afternoon na hangtod magsara hira. 10 pm yung closing.

Sunday at Friday ako pumunta dun. Sobrang dami nila. Takot ako mapagkamalang paparazzo.

hindi ako celebrity pero kilala ang mga kapamilya ko dyan pati na rin sa cebu. pero maliit lang talaga ang community sa tacloban at halos magkakakilala lang ang mga tao dyan lalo na kung galing ka sa lower middle class. yung mga nasa upper class naman, mga walang kwenta ang mga yun kaya wag na natin silang pag-usapan. :D

Just noticed that Tacloban doesn't have a SHOP and DINE thread, y'all are "big" enough to have one of your own. I'm pretty sure y'all have malls and other shopping centers within the city that aren't too shabby compared to other cities in the Visayas (or in the Philippines as a whole). And restaurants and eateries that are the pride of the citizens of Tacloban. I suggest that y'all start a thread, it's be interesting to see these places and what's going on within them. Also, it will separate the food/shopping posts from the community development/infrastructure development posts in this "city thread." :okay:
