Mayor Romualdez calls on city council to tackle revenue code (http://leytesamardaily.net/2011/08/mayor-romualdez-calls-on-city-council-to-tackle-revenue-code/)

TACLOBAN CITY- City Mayor Alfred Romualdez has called on the members of the city council to tackle the revenue code of the city which he said no longer suits the present time.
According to the city mayor, the members of the city council should prioritize the revision of the revenue code for the interest of the city.

If the city council, which count his wife, Councilor Cristina G. Romualdez as one of the members, will not start the total revision of the revenue code, it would be the people of the city who will be at the losing end, the city mayor said.

“They should do what they can. They should not sit on it. But they should call for a public hearing while they call for the review (of the revenue code),” Romualdez said.

“Any increase would seem to be 100 percent if not touch for a long time. But I am not saying that we have to increase it 100 percent,” the city mayor said.

The city mayor said that revising the revenue code would mean increase of taxes but it has to be introduce considering that as Tacloban grows, its needs are also increasing.

He said that the money that the city government collects from its tax payers goes to projects and programs that benefit the people of Tacloban.

“I am showing to them where their taxes goes which basically is use for the improvement of the city,” Romualdez said.

He also said that the council members should think the interest of the city and the entire people of Tacloban and not just the interests of the few like businessmen.

The city mayor said that he is pushing for the increase of the taxes here in Tacloban as a way of cushioning the impact of the reduction of its share on internal revenue allotment.

Earlier, the Department of Budget and Management has said that the IRA shares of cities, to include Tacloban, is sure to decrease due to the creation of new cities in the country, three are here in the region.

“That is why, we have to do something (to cushion its impact to the cities income),” he said.

Tacloban receives more than P400 million as its annual IRA share. Romualdez, however, could not say as to how much the reduction of the city’s IRA for this year.

Romualdez said that with an updated revenue code, any financial deficiency Tacloban will suffer due to a decrease IRA share would somehow be lessened.

Proposed anti-plastic ordinance submitted to Tacloban city council (http://leytesamardaily.net/2011/08/proposed-anti-plastic-ordinance-submitted-to-tacloban-city-council/)

TACLOBAN CITY – A copy of an ordinance prohibiting the use and disposal of plastic bags, plastic bottles, Styrofoam/styrophor in all commercial establishments, markets and households was submitted to the members of the Tacloban city council as a way to help solve the flooding problem of the city.

The proposed ordinance entitled Anti-plastic and Styrofoam ordinance of the city of Tacloban was authored by Councilors Jerry Yaokasin, Victor Emmanuel Domingo and Edwin Chua.

In an interview with Councilor Yaokasin, he stressed that among the reasons why flooding occurs in the city is due to the improper disposal of plastic bags that clog its drainage and other waterways.

“No matter what kind of drainage system we implement if the people will not cooperate with us in our effort to solve the problem of flooding,we will not succeed. That is why we need to have this kind of law which will become the basis for our people to follow,” Yaokasin said.

“Our main objective with this ordinance is to create awareness on the ill-effects of plastic bags to our environment and for the people to use alternative and eco-friendly packing or bagging materials,” he added.

Under section 6 of the proposed ordinance, among the suggested alternative and eco-friendly packing or bagging materials are bayong, native baskets, cloth bags, paper bags or pouches, non-plastic sacks, sturdy reusable shopping bags and biodegradable bags or container made of buri, banana leaves and other durable native materials.

Aside from said provision, consumers are also encouraged to bring their own bag while buying goods from the market, discouraging vendors in all designated business area to use cellophane or plastic bags for packing or packaging their products.

Once said proposed ordinance is approved and ready for implementation, Yaokasin said that there will be a one year grace period or moratorium for all business establishments and individuals to comply with the provisions of the ordinance.

The proposed ordinance also prohibits burning of any plastic waste materials whether in private or public areas, littering of plastic garbage whether in private owned lots or in public places or thoroughfares, inside or outside public utility vehicles, buses stationary or traveling within the territorial jurisdiction of the city; dumping of plastic wares into rivers, creeks, streams, and other waterways and seas; and selling and providing styrofoam/styrophor as packing container in commercial establishments.

A fine is also to be imposed against those who will violate the provisions wherein for first offense a fine of P500 is to be imposed; P1,000 for second offense and P1,500 for the third offense or a fine or/and imprisonment of not more than six months upon the discretion of the court and for business establishment, cancellation of its license to operate for a period of one year

TOMECO puts up traffic lights, traffic signs (http://leytesamardaily.net/2011/08/tomeco-puts-up-traffic-lights-traffic-signs/)

TACLOBAN CITY- Traffic flow around the city gets even better as the chief of the Traffic Operations, Management and Enforcement Control Office (TOMECO), Salvador “Buddy” Estudillo, bared his traffic plans for this year and the coming years.

Estudillo presented his plans and projects for the city traffic during his confirmation by the city council as Department Head II of TOMECO last August 10.

He said that six new traffic lights are to be installed in various sites in the city. These are located at Paterno-Veteranos, Congressman Mate Avenue-Veteranos, Gomez- Rizal Avenue, Gate 1 of Abucay Terminal, Apitong-Maharlika and in Pajara- Sagkahan-V & G junction.

Also, the TOMECO chief included in their 2012 budget the purchase of four additional traffic lights.

Said traffic lights will also be put up next year along Justice Romualdez- Paterno, diversion road along Congressman Mate Avenue, Manlurip, San Jose Junction and along Angelicum Rotonda.

Aside from additional traffic lights, TOMECO will also put updated traffic signs all over the city streets, which would include the speed limit allowed in every road in lieu of the dilapidated ones, Estudillo said.

They will also continue in their educational campaigns such as the school and community based traffic seminars, he added.

In coordination with the Tacloban Sub-District of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the City Architect’s Office, TOMECO will also be designing traffic humps along Magsaysay Boulevard to lessen or eliminate traffic accidents caused by over-speeding and car racing activities in the said area.

Meanwhile, Councilor Cristina G. Romualdez congratulated the TOMECO chief on his confirmation and commended him for a job well done.

The TOMECO chief is also coordinating with the Tacloban City Police Office in stopping the drag racing among juvenile during midnight along Magsaysay Boulevard and other national roads to lessen the number of traffic accidents in the city.

TACLOBAN CITY- City Mayor Alfred Romualdez and Department of Health (DOH) Assistant Regional Director, Dr. Minerva Molon led the ceremonial groundbreaking of the new and permanent City Health Office (CHO) building on Monday.

This is part of the P15 million worth of project inked between DOH and the city government.

It was learned from City Health Officer, Dr. Jaime Opinion that this project was partly funded by the DOH with a counterpart from the city government.

“The first tranche includes P2 million worth of health equipment for our office and P3 million for the first phase of our building, and another P5 million on the second tranche all from DOH while the city government of Tacloban has its P5 million counterpart,” Dr. Opinion told Leyte Samar Daily Express.

Opinion added that through the construction of the said building, they can now have their own permanent office at the city hall grounds.

With this development, he also assured the residents of Tacloban of a more effective and efficient medical and dental services.
Earlier, Mayor Romualdez expressed his gratitude to the health department for considering the city as recipient of health projects.

“I thanked the Department of Health for giving us the opportunity to help them in implementing health programs and projects for our people,” the mayor said.

It was also learned from Mayor Romualdez that the previous construction of three health/birthing centers in the city were also funded by the DOH.

This project is in line with the department’s Health’s Kalusugang Pangkalahatan Program.

To add, the World Health Organization has nominated Tacloban City as top 5 Outstanding LGUs in the entire country under the highly urbanized city category in terms of health programs implementation.

This happened a few years after Tacloban was declared as an HUC.

In his speech during the 33rd founding anniversary and inauguration of V & G sports development center last August 12 at Brgy. 109, Mayor Romualdez announced that the city will build another health center for the people at V & G Subdivision soon.

Mayor Alfred Romualdez in an interview with Leyte Samar daily Express said that putting up of a master drainage here is one of his major concerns which he want to be realized under his administration.

Romualdez is pushing to have this project implemented immediately so that Taclobanons would not suffer anymore from any flooding incidents.

To recall, the entire city was flooded last March due to the incessant rainfall. The flooding has affected thousands of Taclobanons and buried an entire family in Barangay Cabalawan.

The city government is conducting on the finalization on its masters’ drainage plan that would be put into effect immediately.
The planning for the master drainage plan will be in coordination with the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) and City Engineer’s Office (CEO) together with Romualdez’s office.

Meanwhile,City Planning and Development Officer Rolando Hidalgo in a separate interview said that the planning department has already accomplished the masters’ drainage plan that would be implemented throughout the city.

However, Hidalgo said that he recommended to Mayor Romualdez to revise the said plan so that it would be updated.

Furthermore, the planning and development officer said that they are just waiting for the go signal of Mayor Romualdez to start this project

PPA expanding and upgrading port facilities in CDO and Tacloban
By YUL MALICSE

August 19, 2011, 1:33pm

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines – The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is expanding and upgrading the port facilities in Cagayan de Oro and Tacloban cities and has completed the expansion of the port in Pulupandan in Negros Oriental.

“At this time, the current ports structure plan of PPA has put premium in pursuance of its mandate to provide the country’s sea travelling public with more efficient, appropriate and modern port facilities and equipment on our key ports or major gateways like the Cagayan de Oro (CDO) Port, which is the only major port serving the entire CDO and its neighboring provinces,” said PPA general manager Juan C. Sta. Ana in a statement.

“To date, the CDO port caters to an average of 1,200 passengers daily during regular, and 2,500 passengers daily on peak seasons,” said Sta. Ana, adding that “on vessel calls, the port receives seven vessels a day ranging from superferries, liners and tramping vessels.”

On cargo, the port averages around 12,500 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent unit) every month. “In view of these considerations, the PPA has lined up a number of infrastructure projects that hopefully could be implemented in the medium term and which would allow the port to accommodate projected increase in port traffic.”

He said the PPA will pursue the implementation of the following individual projects at this port in the latter part of 2011 and 2012 to include the paving of around 20,500 square- meter newly developed operational back-up area to provide additional space for storage of container cargoes; the construction of a new two-story passenger terminal building (PTB) designed to accommodate 1,500 passengers at any given time, and the construction of three “roll-on, roll-off’ (RO-RO) berths that would accommodate large long-haul R0-R0 vessels of GRT ranging from 6,500 to 19,000 MT and with a minimum draft requirement of 7.0 meters.

On the other hand, the” Tacloban Port Improvement/Rehabilitation Project (TPIRP) involves the “expansion” of the existing wharf of the port. “This would require the installation of steel pipe sheet piles and waling (1,456 MT), rockworks (15,378 cu. m.), fill materials (37,544 cu. m.), and tie rods (14 sets of 32 mm x 18 m and 90 sets of 70 mm x 24 m). This port handles both foreign and domestic cargoes.

On the construction of the new wharf project at the port of Pulupandan in Negros Oriental, GM Sta. Ana said, “the revised contract amount is P411.2 million. The project was completed in 2005 during the previous administration , he said.

PPA expanding and upgrading port facilities in CDO and Tacloban

The Inhumanity behind the opposition to solve Tacloban's water problem (http://leytesamardaily.net/2011/08/the-inhumanity-behind-the-opposition-to-solve-tacloban%E2%80%99s-water-problem/)

There is no valid reason whatsoever for the provincial government and the two board members to block the attempt of the city government to have its own water system. It is just plain inhuman for anyone to even question the move of the city mayor and the Maynilad to do something about the 25-year old problem. Majority of the 19,000 households in Tacloban City have no potable water source; this challenged Mayor Alfred Romualdez to look for an alternative solutions after the problem came unheeded even by the former President and the former head of the water agency in the country.

Water is a basic need that is equivalent to life itself. When we talk about discovering life in outer space, the discussion immediately touches on water or its presence. Without this basic resource, life would not exist at all. It is very important, more essential than electricity for man can live without one but could not survive without water.

The problem was a top priority in every household that Taclobanons became hopeful when the city mayor promised to look into the water problem and to solve it in due time. The opportune moment came when a water company operating in the National Capital Region heeded the clamor of Taclobanons and came to their rescue. The study and surveys conducted found that 90 percent of Taclobanons are in favor of the water company to operate in the city.

Maynilad is a dream come true for every Taclobanon until the provincial leaders once again made attempt to block Tacloban’s effort to solve one of its pressing problems. Two Leyte board members have voiced out their opposition for Tacloban to have its own water system. Why they did not oppose or showed concern when Taclobanons have been experiencing such crisis, is beyond comprehension. Now, that Tacloban is about to have the solution to their long standing ordeal, the selfishness and egoism of certain personalities come to the fore. It is very sad that these people who are supposed to think of ways whereby they could help improve humanity and our societies are the ones putting heavy loads on people. They would rather see Taclobanons and other Leyteños suffer from lack of potable water than see the realization of a man’s dream for his people.

"Three Sixty" to invest P40M to open more outlets in Cebu

CEBU, Philippines - Health and wellness chain Three Sixty Pharmacy is going to invest at least P40 million this year, for the opening of another 10 outlets in Cebu and other parts of the Visayas.

The Three Sixty Pharmacy brand, operated by Cebuano company Pri Solutions Corporation, is now one of the fastest growing drugstore, and health and wellness chain in the Philippines, as it opened 41 branches in one year.

In an interview yesterday with the company’s business development manager Carlo Yap, he said that the growing interest of consumers for health and wellness products, and the consciousness of the market on health fueled the chain’s fast growth although the industry is already dominated by existing brands, such as Rose Pharmacy, Mercury Drug, Watsons, among others.

He said the company invests at least P3 million to P4 million in opening a branch, including already the inventories and infrastructure. For the rest of the year, Three Sixty Pharmacy will be present in Tagbilaran, Bohol, Tacloban, and Dumaguete in January of 2012.

The Yap family, whose core business is into food manufacturing (Pri Food Corporation), logistics (Draniz Distribution), and furniture manufacturing (Antonio Bryan Development Corporation), has expressed bullishness in the health and wellness retail market, as it targets to open 360 outlets in the next nine years nationwide.

After penetrating the Visayas, and Mindanao, Three Sixty Pharmacy also plans to enter the Luzon market in the next two years.

Although, strategic location is not the brand’s lone edge over the competition, he said what makes Three Sixty Pharmacy ahead in the industry, is its commitment to make “service” as its core competence.

Established in May 2010, opening simultaneously 10 branches at one time, Yap said the brand is envisioned to become the leading drugstore/health and wellness chain the Philippines in the next nine years.

In fact, the company is planning to introduce another brand of “convenience store” chain next year, but no official name has been approved yet.

While the concept is not new, Yap said the growing number of customers across market segment demanding for health and wellness products, including medicines, give the company more confidence to invest more, and expand.

Pri Solutions Corporation is led by brothers Antonio S. Yap (president) and Ramon S. Yap (director). The brothers owned a wholesale store in Tabo-an area in Cebu in the 1970s. This time, they are pursuing their interest in retail through the introduction of the Three Sixty Pharmacy brand, and other retail chain concepts in the future. - THE FREEMAN

DZR airport rehab may start next year — Rep. Montejo (http://leytesamardaily.net/2011/08/dzr-airport-rehab-may-start-next-year-%E2%80%94-rep-montejo/)

TACLOBAN CITY – The rehabilitation work of the Daniel Z. Romualdez (DZR) Airport terminal building could start next year as funding for the purpose has been included under the P1.8 trillion national budget for 2012.

Rep. Neil Benedict Montejo of the An Waray party-list group said that of the P38.6 billion budget of the Department of Transportation and Communications for next year as contained under the 2012 proposed national budget, about P200 million has been earmarked for the rehabilitation of the terminal building of the Tacloban airport.
“This is (good news) for us. Hopefully, it can start by next year considering that there is already a funding allocation for our Tacloban airport,” Montejo, in a telephone interview, said.

Montejo has been lobbying before national officials for the rehabilitation of the region’s premier airport for the past few years now.

According to the solon, he has discussed the matter with DOTC Secretary Mar Roxas during the budget deliberations last Thursday with the latter giving him an assurance that the terminal building of the airport could be rehabilitated.

“I told the Secretary that there is an urgent need to rehabilitate our terminal building considering that it was designed in the 70’s. It no longer suits the present needs as we have 13 daily flights, even 14 during special occasions,” Montejo said.

He is hopeful that with the inclusion of the P200 million under the 2012 national budget, the rehabilitation of the DZR Airport could be realized by next year.

Montejo even said that during his recent audience with President Aquino, he also discussed his desire to see the rehabilitation of the terminal building of the Tacloban airport.

He said that the President has vowed to look into his proposal.

Montejo also said that he was encouraged by the assurance of Sec. Roxas, who told him that the rehabilitation of the DZR Airport could be undertaken through PPP (public-private partnership), a program of the national government wherein the private sector are encouraged to join public projects.

He admitted that if he would only rely with the assistance from the national government, the rehabilitation of the DZR Airport, particularly its terminal building, may not be realized considering of the huge cost it would entail.

“We need at least P1 billion for the rehabilitation of the airport’s terminal building alone,” Montejo said.

The rehabilitation of the DZR Airport has been in the pipeline for more than 10 years now.

Originally, the Japan Bank for International Cooperation has offered to bankrolled the rehabilitation of the DZR Airport to the tune of more than P3 billion.

But for some reason, the fund was realigned to Western Visayas during the time of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

360 PHARMACIES IN 9 YEARS
Yaps’ strategy to be No. 1: Flood market with outlets (http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/45751/yaps%E2%80%99-strategy-to-be-no-1-flood-market-with-outlets)

How can one become a leading drugstore company in the country?

For the brothers Antonio and Ramon Yap and their family, the way to dominate the health and wellness market is to flood it with more drugstore outlets carrying their brand – ThreeSixty Pharmacy.

A minority player a year ago, ThreeSixty Pharmacy easily and aggressively dominated the wellness market by flooding Cebu with outlet openings at a rate of two to three outlets every month.

“We opened our first 10 outlets in May 27, 2010,” said Carlo Yap, son of Ramon and currently the business development manager of Prisolutions Corp., the holding company of ThreeSixty Pharmacy.

The family’s target is to have 360 outlets by 2019, which will have accomplished the brothers’ goal for the brand to provide for health and wellness in locations convenient for people to find.

For each outlet, the family’s investment is from P3 million to P4 million.

“At present we already have 41 branches in Cebu with about 550 employees for ThreeSixty Pharmacy,” Carlo said. “By May next year, we will have a total of 60 branches which will already include branches outside of Cebu.”

In November, Carlo said the drugstore would open its first outlet in Tacloban and two more in Dumaguete City and Tagbilaran City in Bohol in January 2012.

The Yap brothers came from a family which used to own a wholesale store in one of Cebu’s oldest market zone, Taboan in Cebu City, in the 70s.

They dreamed of going into the retail business such as a convenience store that would cater to everyone’s needs 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

But they decided to venture to other businesses successfully such as in the field of distribution, furniture, export and food manufacturing.

Then last year, they decided to enter the health and wellness market.

In a year’s time, the brand has made in-roads in the market.

Carlo said when they started, they had to look for a good location to rent the space to set up the branch.

Now with their brand already established, he said that property owners would now invite them to check out their place and offer it for lease.

“That alone is already something that will serve as an indicator that ThreeSixty Pharmacy brand is already known by our target market,” he said.

They now also have three branches that operates 24-hours a day which includes their branch in Southgate Mall and MEPZ 2 in Mactan and along Highway Street in Guizo, Mandaue City.

“We always want to keep it true to our vision which is to provide the needs of our customers not only through our strategic locations but also through our operations. We decided to operate those three branches 24-hours because it’s a busy district,” he said.

In choosing which brands to carry in their pharmacy, Yap said that they simply considered the needs of the people and tried to carry everything from the generic brands to the branded ones.

“Because people want options and we want to cater to everyone from the price-conscious to those who also wants the branded medicines,” he said.

The pharmacy also carries health supplement brands, which is part of ThreeSixty’s positioning in the market as the overall provider of health and wellness products.

“We see a growing demand for health and wellness products that is why we don’t only cater to those who needs medicine but also those who are health-conscious and takes a lot of vitamins and other food supplements,” he said.

The firm is exploring tie-ups with companies with programs for their employees like discounts and credit accounts.

“We currently are partners with Fairchild Semiconductors in Mactan where we accept purchase orders for their employees to get medicines from us. Coop members in Mitsumi in Danao and CFI in Capitol also have the same arrangments with us,” he said.

With the early success of their brand which recently was awarded by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Emerging Entrepreneur of the year, Yap said PriSolutions Corp. is now planning to open another brand with a convenience store concept.

“It will be like Seven Eleven brand that will operate 24-hours a day. Hopefully we’ll launch this brand next year which will be ready for franchising,” Yap said.

Asus, umasa pa kamo na matatagan pa kita hin attention hit national government ipagconstruct hin bag-o nga terminal building it DZR airport. Hi ako di na ak maglalaum pa, not unless kun may-ada na gud klaro nga buhat.

I've been to the old airport of Bacolod City han before nagkaada hin New Bacolod-Silay airport. An ira old airport kahalipot an runway ngan masukot nagkakaaksidente kay nalalahos ha runway an mga edro naaalakbatan an mga commercial ngan residential establishments nga paligid hit airport complex. Their terminal building in old airport, somehow have similarity to the existing terminal building of our very own DZR airport. And yes, their old airport was located within the metropolis of Bacolod kaya guinbalhin ha Silay City kay didto man may available nga lote an Provincial government han Neg Occ. suited for an international standard na airport.

Last July, I was in Tagbilaran, Bohol for an R&R vacation. Ha airport pa lang nira nakasiring ak mas masuwerte pa it DZR airport kay mahaluwagay pa kontra ha Tagbilaran airport.

Their tarmac is very narrow, only single plane can taxi and disembark their passengers. And if another plane will disembark their passengers, it will wait until the previous is finished. Inside their terminal building, passengers in arrival area are having a hard time to get their check-in baggage due to small baggage carousel and the room is not enough to accomodate a large passengers of one airline. In the boarding area, people are everywhere. Some passenger sits in the lobby/floor and others are in standing position due to limited space. Buti na lang may second floor hira kaso damo guihap mga tawo naghuhulat it ira flyt sked. Naghahalo na guihap an mga pasahero hit 4 ka airlines ngadto. Naghuhuroot ngan mapapaso ha sulod tongod hin kadadamo nga tawo mapa-Filipino man or Foriegner nga nagbabakasyon ha Bohol.

An nakadto ak ha boarding area didto ak umawod as Filipino kay may mga kaupod ka nga Foriegners damo it reklamo parti it kahimutang it existing terminal building hit Tagbilaran airport. And at the same time, I am still proud and feel lucky that our DZR airport is still in good condition. Maski magdurungan it mga airlines magdisembark hit pasahero at least nakakaaccomodate pa. And the location of DZR airport complex itself is very strategic and huge. We only need to upgrade and rehabilitate. Unlike Tagbilaran airport, the whole airport complex itself needs to be relocated and to be upgraded.

And yes, the existing Tagbilaran airport is located in the metropolitan area of Tagbilaran where houses, residential and commercial establishments sorrounds the airport complex.

For some reasons, let our government do what they think is priority that needs important attention to the welfare of every Filipino (diri kay mag-ija-ija, ajo-ajo mentality kirita). I believe it's not a matter of political thing (kun may-ada man guti la) that matters in prioritizing other airports than our very own DZR airport. It is a matter of immediate deliverance of safe, comfort, conducive and above anything else a feasible/viable income to the government coffers.

So, it ak ma-aadvice la hit tagsa tagsa furomer nganhi ighudong ta it nga mga karukayakan parti kay-ano kasugad, hin-o angay basulon, kay-ano waray kahinayon, etc. kay maduro la it im kaaw-anon ngan malalagas ka la na may pagdumot. An importante, operational pa it at airport, tag-20 pesos (amo ba la guihap) it terminal fee, waray bayad it pagpark it mga sasakyan, diri harayo it airport naton maski 1hour ka pa tikang ha downtown Tacloban ugsa it im boarding time
puydi ka la guihap makasakay, and best of all 24 hours may available nga sasakyan kay kun masakay ka la hin mga PUJ tag-16 pesos (asya ba?) la it pamasahe tikang/tikado ha downtown Tacloban.

Kahit papano, we are still lucky. :okay:

Let's be thankful of what we have right now and make use of it for good reason.

^^^^nice, well said. Your such being optimistic person instead of losing hope each one of us. If that so then we still be proud to our Tacloban Airport in terms of passengers volume that we cannot deny that this airport is one of the busiest in the country (outside MM). Dispite of being old terminal we should still be proud of.

^^^^^^Necessary man liwat mag dugang hin traffic lights it Tacloban especially ha downtown area. Yana nakita kita it mga existing traffic lights ha J.Romualdez-Sen.Enage st., J.Romualdez-del Pilar st. then ha Real-Veteranos/Imelda st. and Real-Independencia st. Those streets after nabutangan hin traffic lights mas naging hapsay an dalagan trapiko. Asya ini an dalan, Rizal-Tarcela; Rizal/Mate-Avenida; Avenida-Paterno; New Bus terminal Exit-Abucay Maharlika; Apitong-Maharlika; ug ha Pajara-Maharlika.

Yana nga 2011 from 1st qrt. to 2nd qrt. naabot na hin 22,536 it rehistrado nga mga vehicles karoyag sidngon 59.27% an guin hataas ha sakob la han 6 ka bulan. Asya gud na kinahanglan madugangan hin traffic lights ha Tacloban agod mabuligan it aton traffic system.

Aside of Tacloban City having narrow streets, this would be similar also to other cities in the Philippines like in Butuan, San Juan, there we can find sort of streets similar with our city even in Europe particular in France, Italy, and UK there we can find sort of norrow streets which are being installed with sophisticated traffic lights. Having narrow streets are not hindrance to have traffic lights, instead these would be essential to decongest traffic even those people who would cross the street would give them safety from harm of accident.

Being an HUC it does not measures having traffic lights. Because you will still find in the country an HUC with no traffic lights like in Puerto Princessa nor non-HUC cities there we can find traffic lights like Naga in Bohol and Tarlac City.

Funny isn't good especially a city that is in progress instead we should be glad and be proud as Taclobanons:cheers::cheers::cheers:
