TACLOBAN CITY – Ten gorgeous ladies and ten hunk men made the night glamorous at Robinson Mall Tacloban as they compete for this year’s Robinson’s Supermodel Search, a competition which aims to redefine beauty of Tacloban and helps aspiring models in the region to enter the world of modeling.

In this year’s competition, Limuel Golong and Sherry were declared as this year’s top winners for the Robinsons Supermodel Search while Wayne Heindrich Ong and Charity Retuerto were declared as 1st runner-up.

TACLOBAN CITY -- As three new cities in Eastern Visayas stand to receive higher internal revenue allotment (IRA) starting next year, the four older cities in the region will have to make do with a smaller share in national government revenue collections.

The cities of Tacloban, Ormoc, Calbayog and Maasin will receive only P1.83 billion in 2012, about P210 million less than their combined P2.04 billion this year, data of the Department of Budget and Management showed.

TACLOBAN CITY – The members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Tacloban approved a resolution addressed to the Leyte Metropolitan Water District and the Maynilad regarding the problem of water supply in this city.

Aside from the LMWD, the resolution was also addressed to the Maynilad, a private company that deals on water supply distribution and had signed a memorandum of agreement with the city government of Tacloban to conduct a feasibility study and survey among Tacloban water consumers.

Its better if lagyan ng CEO ng street lights on both sides ng every major road dito sa Tacloban para gad man magmalamragay it at kakalsadahan and to avoid casualties or road accidents. :cheers:

didi ha balay naghihinay-hinay na kami pan liwan from (14-20w) CFL to (4-8w) LED lighting fixtures.. mas mahal hiya pero makatipid gihap in the long run.. :D

Philippines’ Tacloban port being upgraded

08 November 2011

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has started rehabilitating the Port of Tacloban, reported BusinessWorld.

"This is the first major improvement for Tacloban port since its construction before the second World War. There were only minor repairs in the 1980s," PPA Tacloban port manager Dominador Licayan said.

PPA, which is financing the rehabilitation works estimated to cost US$8.69 million, expects to complete the project in early-2013.

TACLOBAN CITY-The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is currently undertaking a P375.90 million rehabilitation works of the city port, a project that is expected to serve shipping industry in the next 50 years.

PPA Tacloban port manager Dominador Licayan said that the completion of the project will pave the way for the port to be classified as world class in terms of facilities.

The project, which started in May 2011 and will be completed early of 2013, covers demolition and disposal of portion of existing reinforced concrete pier deck, wharf deck, pile caps, beams, old PPA building and chipping of retaining wall.

TACLOBAN CITY- An economic development official of this city has issued an appeal to the Leyte Metropolitan Water District (LMWD) to better its service to Tacloban, saying that inadequate supply of water in the city could discourage the coming in of investors.

Adequate supply of water in an area is one of the key considerations for investors and unfortunately for Tacloban, it is now suffering water problem due to the “worst” performance of the LMWD, Roland Hidalgo, chief of the city development and planning division office, said.

Actually nauna An Mactan Rocks pagpasa ha City Gov't. The source pointed by Maynilad was in Jaro Leyte. The MRII's sources are in Tigbao (surface water source-river), and in Cabalawan. Nice photos Mao..hoping this area of Tacloban will be developed w/ more hotel resorts esp. on the hilltops..:cheers:

It sure look stunning. "AAA" Golf course with townhouses or luxury condos, at the base of the mount would be enough, I thought. IMO..leave the mount alone as it is, and developed its surrounding into a beautiful resort without spoiling the natural beauty of the hill top. Build instead landscaped steps to the top for viewing the natural lush surroundings of the area.

Are you saying that the hill is developed (top), or just the base and its vicinity. If the hill top is also developed, wouldn't that impacted the integrity of the hill itself? I hope the developer did the right thing to avoid any impact on the stability of the geological structure of the hill. IMO...Let's move on.

TACLOBAN CITY-The city government is serious in welcoming another water company planning to operate in Tacloban to give options to its water concessionaires.

Casal said that as part of the preparation of the city government for a private water facility operating in Tacloban, it was able to secure a right to use the Cabayugan and Ponso Rivers, both in Jaro town, Leyte, as possible sources for whoever private water facility will operate in the city.

The right to use the two rivers was granted to the city government by the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) last September of this year, he said.

The city government has applied for the right before the NWRB two years ago, Casal said, adding that the LMWD could not question their move considering that it is a government-owned corporation whose “mother agency” is the Local Water Utility Administration (LWUA) and not NWRB.

A multi-national company has proposed water services to the City Government of Tacloban recently.

On Nov. 10, top officials from Mactan Rock Industries, Inc., a Cebu-based water treatment company operating for around 28 years, visited the city to publicly announce their bid to construct its water facility here at no cost from the city’s coffer.

It has been serving Metro Cebu Water District, Puerto Prinsesa Water District, Island in Palawan, various barangayan projects in the city of Cebu, and in Northern Mindanao.

According to City consultant for Special Project Robert “Bobby” Muñoz, Mactan Rock is four to six months ahead in submitting proposal to offer water services to the City Government of Tacloban.

It can be recalled that Maynilad water facility is also targeting to get the permit to operate in the city in mid 2012.

Also, it was learned from Muños that Manila Water has also proposed to open its water services in the city.

Consider the land area and quality. Ormoc is definitely a very fertile land while Tacloban halos lahat sementado. That makes I guess a certain difference of the LOCAL Revenues.
