^^ Hi I could not actually vouch for the veracity of the story about the said Tacloban-Caticlan flight but AFAIK, it was based on a FB post by a reputable Tacloban-based blogger although again, as far as I can remember, it was just a proposal. With regards to the news article, I for instance, have not come across any news article re: Tac-Caticlan flight but I think it was mentioned several times in the thread. Thanks for raising that up so that the general public would be aware :)

TACLOBAN CITY- The Eastern Visayas biggest government-run hospital is being mulled to be transferred to a new site with P3 billion as the estimated cost.

This was revealed by Health Secretary Enrique Ona who was in the city yesterday as part of his routine visits among health regional offices as he also looked into various physical conditions of different public hospitals in Leyte, to include the Eastern VisayasRegional Medical Center(EVRMC), the biggest-run government hospital in the region.........

Thus, he said, the project could be realized in the next two years or within the term of President Aquino.

Ona visited yesterday an old and unfinished building located in Barangay Cabalawan, seven kms. away from Tacloban proper, as a possible relocation site........

The EVRMC was established on July 16, 1916 as a 14 –bed capacity and then known as Leyte Provincial Hospital and was later renamed as EVRMC by virtue of Republic Act 7879 in 1992...........




That unfinished bldg. in Brgy. Cabalawan is owned by DOH and not by UP as I have previously thought. I hope this will materialize soon as the entire region deserves to have a more modern, new and bigger government hospital....

Imagine EVRMC serving the entire region since 1916, it's about time to have a new one...

BIR Revenue Region 14, Tacloban City led by director Diosdado Mendoza surpassed its collection targets for the first two months of the year.

For January, the region’s collection was P362.829 million or 18.03 percent higher than figures for the same month in 2011, a statement from the revenue office said.

Last February, tax take posted P331.111 representing 4.25% or P13.499 million more than its goal for the same period. Cumulatively, the revenue collection of the region grew by 19.20% for January and February 2012 totalling P693.94 million.

Revenue District Office 86, Borongan City last February collected P59.423 million exceeding its P53.607 million cumulative goal by 10%.

RDO 87, Catbalogan City posted last month P90.736 million, improving by P20.097 million higher than previous year’s cumulative collection of P70.639 million for a 28.45% increase.

For their offices notched increased collections for January and February as well: RDO 85, Catarman, Northern Samar, for P49.543 million; RDO 88, Tacloban City for P316.798 million; RDO 89, Ormoc City for P119.299 million; and RDO 90 Maasin City for P58.141 million.

Mendoza commended the region’s taxpayers and the staff of RR 14–Tacloban City including its component district offices in Leyte and Samar for their performance during the Tax Campaign launch last Feb. 28.

MANILA, Philippines — Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC) has recently opened the expansion wing of Robinsons Place Tacloban in response to strong demand for more space and facilities. The mall has consistently experienced high patronage since it opened in June 2009.

According to Arlene Magtibay, RLC Commercial Centers Divisions general manager, over 18 million visitors have been to Robinsons Place Tacloban since its opening, prompting the company to expand the only full-service mall in Eastern Visayas.

“Robinsons Tacloban owes its success to its strategic location as well as its interesting tenant mix which has serviced the needs of the locals as well transient shoppers from nearby Samar, Northern Leyte and as far as Cebu,” she said.

The new wing is a two-level expansion building connected to the main mall and has a gross floor area of almost 7,000 sqm and approximately 4,300 sqm of gross leasable space. Together with the main mall, Robinsons Place Tacloban now has a GFA of 41,000 sqm.

There are also two new and bigger Robinsons cinemas which include Tacloban’s first 3D theater. Each of the new cinemas has 250 seats. With the two additional theaters, it now has five cinemas for its patrons.

Magtibay said patronage for both the main mall and the expansion wing of Robinsons Place Tacloban is seen to get a further boost once RLC opens its latest gohotels.ph branch in the first quarter of the year. The new hotel will offer 100 rooms to both tourists and business travelers.

With the opening of the new wing and gohotels.ph, Robinsons Place Tacloban is expected to become the premier mixed-use complex in Tacloban.

^^ I think the said moratorium is just 3 years, if Im not mistaken and quite sure that SM has already laid down its blueprints for Tacloban City.
