It's probably just the JBR cuz you can see the JBR signboard inside the fencing but then again the tower icon on the fence doesnt resemble the JBR towers in any way. I'm confused too.

its not near there i just dwon from the Mall of the Emriates and Up from the Dubai Media City. Not JBR so far from that site. Its near Dalma Tower and the like

these guys just signed a MoU with the PSEB (Pakistan Software Export Board) that they'll build a "Media City" in Pakistan, on the same pattern of the one in Dubai, but might have a few chances.

Dubai Media City's major project may get more land

There is a move to allocate more land for the Dubai Media City's ambitious International Media Production Zone (IMPZ) project, according to a top official. Although actual details are to be finalised, the decision has been brought about by sheer demand from prospective clients, the official added.

If so, this would be the second time since the project located on Emirates Road was first announced in July last year that the allocated area has been expanded. Recently, the promoters took a decision to nearly double the land mass from the earlier 20 million square feet. They also decided to create specialised zones for individual media related industries such as production, CD manufacturing, etc.

IMPZ has already bagged commitments of over Dh1 billion from investors. Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, chairman of the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone, will unveil the master plan of IMPZ today at the Gulf Print & Gulf Pack Exhibition 2004.

At this stage, the planned built-up area would be over 35 million square feet. Halcrow International prepared the master plan for the project. The promoters have also integrated plans to develop office towers, residential areas, essentially for employees working within the zone, and a hotel property. At full tilt, the IMPZ will be a self-contained community of between 50,000 to 70,000 people.

On the land lease, the zone is offering plots for 'Ground + 3 levels' of development, with a few exceptions depending on plot selection. Leases are offered for a maximum of 30 years. Investors will also be offered production units on an annual rent basis. The leases on these are offered for a minimum of two years and a maximum of five.

The planned office space will have layouts similar to the ones in Dubai Media City. For the zone tenants, IMPZ plans a specially designated area for retail requirements. The minimum square feet of area available for lease within this is 1,000 square feet. (The Gulf News)

Somewhere in the middle there is construction going on, but the board from the distance seams to show a low rise all glass facade building, a very futuristic one.

cool i guess this is a part of the 6th DMC expansion because the demand is so high that they aren't capable to house all that demand ..btw there are over 95 Tvchannels on the waiting list to broadcast from DMC that's a single reason of the expansion

many resources one of them is a speech for Mr, Bin Biyat cheif executive Dmc , another resource was on board Emirates Airlines on channel 20 it is all about Dubai and their projects and also from ppl i know in DMC

Actually they are 79 TV and radio channels. another 80 are on the waiting list. They are expecting that the number will be doubled this year and as CEO of DMC there is no space avaliable now. Many companies are working there on a rate of 2 companies every day.

the concept is to offer a home "next to the job" with all these residential towers within dmc
this will relieve traffic and travel times

If they really saw this in August the towers should have almost topped out by now, there's something wrong about this project, a skyscraper project has never been put on hold in Dubai!

perhaps they had to wait until DOZ has been released, which happened recently, and now we see them grow...hopefully!

One building is going up there, but it is far back from the road and from the board all you can make up in the distance, is that it will be a lowrise and with some kind of transparent glass facades..

Exept the curly twins, ZETAS and MIDDLE EAST FOUNDATION are working on 2 other plots as well.

^^ SIDRA TOWER is on the first plot from the left. AL ATTAR one is on the 3rd plot from the left, and there is work in at least one more site going on.

However this area is just part of TECOM now.
