I also went there last month and I don't think they will start any projects soon until the economy recover. From what I guess, the developer is not doing so well.

I read a while back, from a Cambodian property website, that the company is waiting until they finish their project in Vietnam before the will start on their project in Phnom Penh.
Hey KoolKool, do you know when Sun Wah projects in Vietnam will be done?

They are completed already? I thought Sun Wah has a few projects in Vietnam and I not talking about the Sun Wah tower you posted. I know that that tower was completed a while back.

Ah sorry! I'm not live in Sai gon so I know very little, you can question some expert member in our forum!
SeeMacau April 13th, 2010, 08:51 AM I think you are probably refer to a project called ''Saigon Pearl" at the District 1 of Saigon. This project is developed by one of the subsidiary of Sun Wah Group. It consist of 8 condo towers and many different townhouses. Tower 1 to 4 was completed last year, tower 5 and 6 are currently under constructions. I believe once tower 7 and 8 completed, the developer will focus back their businesses in Cambodia.

SeeMacau April 25th, 2010, 03:17 AM The owner - Sun Wah Group is currently developing this huge project at Saigon, Vietnam
Saigon Pearl

MBRkhmer April 27th, 2010, 12:14 PM Hi, everybody
Here you all talking about (Sun Wah IFC) or Phnom Penh Pearl ?
Because untill now I'm very mixed up with these two project.
What I know Sun Wah IFC near Naga casino, so where is P-penh pearl should be located?
I think SeeMacau knew about these???
Thanks!
SeeMacau April 27th, 2010, 03:13 PM The name ''Sun Wah IFC' and 'Phnom Penh Pearl' are actually referred to the same project. Phnom Penh Pearl is just a new name of this project. The design is slightly change from the original one.
I cannot 100% guarantee this, since I cannot find any news related to this project, and I didn't see any activities at the construction sites.

KlaKhmer July 3rd, 2010, 06:51 AM ugh!! the new design is smaller and ugly. im not excited about this project anymore :ohno:
The design is not bad, I like glass on the window. Just too simple, too regular, not very original.
It miss an identity.
I don't know why it is in vogue now, but a lot of builder make a mass of towers very close, without space. I don't like it.
I like design original, unique and beautiful. it must send a message
MYPHNOMPENH July 3rd, 2010, 05:53 PM Nice but not make me suprise with its design..., They should design it better then this by keep more space and build it more high as possible, instead of make it very close and narrow like this...!
SeeMacau July 4th, 2010, 05:18 AM I think it will turn out quite nice after completion with the glassy facade installed
Developer goal is to maximize their profits !! :)
YSovann July 27th, 2010, 11:27 AM I like the New design and i think that they will start they project at the end of this year

I heard that the city wants to buy that piece of land and make a small public park on it.
LostInTheSimCity January 22nd, 2012, 08:47 AM I heard that the city wants to buy that piece of land and make a small public park on it.
How come they buy that such expensive land just to build public park?
If i am not mistaken Naga already announced that they will expand their business which is located somewhere nearby Naga World casino. I assume they already bought from Sun Wah.

I have know idea. But, I think the city could take it back if the contract with Sun Wah did not work out as it was supposed to work, and sell it to Naga with a higher price, I guess.
hopeoneday February 27th, 2012, 05:17 AM Naga World profits Double to $98 Million
February 27, 2012
NagaCorp, which owns Phnom Penh’s only licensed casino, announced on Wednesday that net profits at the company had more than doubled in 2011 and that plans are in store to expand its operations in the country.
Financial results filed with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange show that NagaCorp made a net profit of $92 million in 2011 compared to $44 million in 2010, the highest profit recorded by the company since it went public in 2006.
Revenues totaled $223.8 million, a 49 percent increase on the previous year. According to the results, the largest portion of revenues $80 million was made from gamblers on VIP trips, known as junkets.
A total of $3.2 billion was gambled at junket tables in the casino by 16,019 visitors, that is an average of more than $200,000 per player.
Because it is illegal for Cambodians to gamble at domestic casinos, NagaWorld says that it draws in the wealthy from around the region to play at its tables.
The company believes it has only just begun to tap into the junket market, especially within the burgeoning economies of Vietnam, China and Thailand, the company said in its annual report.
The report also said that share holders had agreed at a meeting on January 30 to acquire two companies owned by NagaCorp’s Malaysian CEO Chen Lip Keong for a total of $369 million.
Those firms have plans to build a “hotel and gaming complex, a retail walkway and a tourist park” at a site next to NagaWorld casino, the report said.
NagaCorp was granted a 70-year casino license by the government in 1995 and has the exclusive right to operate casinos in Phnom Penh and the surrounding area.

I guess the Sun Wah IFC is dead. I hope NagaCorp plans to build something spectacular like a 40 or 50 storey building and not another 16 storey building. There's plenty of 16 storey buildings in PP.
