Harbin is a sub-provincial city and the capital of the Heilongjiang Province in Northeast China. It lies on the southern bank of the Songhua River. Harbin is ranked as the tenth largest city in China, serving as a key political, economic, scientific, cultural and communications center of Northeastern China.

Rinchinlhumbe June 5th, 2009, 05:27 PM Harbin is a great city. But not because of it's skyline but because of its Russian architecture and Ice festival. It's the most "un-chinese" city in China.

I think the 9 million population is a little misleading, that accounts for the entire county of Harbin. The city itself has like 2 or 3 million.
