It is located near Jl. Kuningan on Gatot Subroto. (right in front of the toll road)

I was quite surprized myself. I only found out a few days ago when i drove past it. Pity they are demolishing it.

Will we as a nation ever value buildings in themselves than as something to make money out of?

Pity!

no, but they're renovating it...they're demolishing one 'wing' of HI (and replace it with a shopping center), but luckily not the historic part.

to be honest with you , 'they may demolished HI imo , and built a bigger and modern hotel / apartment instead. HI was built with Soviet help at the 60's isn't it?

Usualy only when educated people will have appreciation to past and heritage. Another Indonesia problem is.. education quality is low. Even many teachers is not educated enuf.

Malaysia used to import teachers from Indonesia. Now Indonesian is studying in Malaysia. Sad.. sad..

Maha, what is 'crikey' means?? OZ English and accent is strange to my ear, I do not understand... I live in Vancouver though, I do not live in kampung Indonesia like you...

since balai kartini already rent for wedding caremonies, the management try to renovate and make it more exclusive, balai kartini has to compete with other similiar building such as balai sudirman at Jl Dr. Soepomo, tebet. and balai kartini has finished the renovation, and it become two storey building and with an expensive price for those who want celebrate their wedding at balai kartini...... :eek2: :eek2:
