A stunning piece of modern architecture. It was designed by acclaimed architect Edward Charles Bassett of SOM and the building officially opened on July 16, 1984. When topped out in the summer of 1983, it surpassed the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel in Atlanta as the tallest building south of New York City and east of the Mississippi River. It held the title until 1987. The tower was the headquaters of Southeast Bank, until it went into liquidation back in 1991.
