You have to be a millionaire in order to have a house in HK unless you live either in a rural area or The New Territories.

Some middle class homes in HK. This is in Fairview Park which is located at the northwestern part of The New Territories.

I'm sure some of the houses in Fairview Park have a garage. But again, HK is a public tranport oriented city. You really don't need a car there.

Thats not what I meant though.

Anyway, its because when I went to the Philippines I've seen some of the largest and fanciest homes in Asia.

Is surprising that they can live in such nice homes. Its worth a fortune to live in such in HK.

The Pinnacle@Duxton (previously known as Duxton Plain Public Housing) is a 2.5 hectare residential complex located at 1 Cantonment Road, Singapore.[1]

The project consists of seven 50-storey connected towers, labelled 1A to 1G, with a total of 1,848 units. Unique amongst HDB developments, these units are designated as special types, S1 and S2, having altogether 35 different unit variations for buyers to choose from - with dissimilar combination of features such as extended bays, balconies, bay windows or planter areas.

Pinnacle@Duxton features the world's two longest sky gardens of 500m each, on both the 26th & 50th floor; and all seven towers represent the world's tallest Public Housing buildings.[1][2][3][4]

In June 2010, Pinnacle@Duxton was awarded the 2010 'Best Tall Building' for Asia & Australasia by Chicago-based Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.[5]

Pointed roof symbolizes buffalo horns. The other name of West Sumatra is Minangkabau. Minang - kabau, "kabau" means "kerbau" in Bahasa Indonesia or "buffalo" in English.
Not just the roof, they even use this shape in their traditional costume.

India's richest man Mukesh Ambani moves into £630m home
The richest man in India, Mukesh Ambani, has moved into his new home in Mumbai which is 27 storeys high and worth £630m.

Mukesh Ambani, has moved into his new home in Mumbai which is 27 storeys high and worth £630m Photo: CORBIS/AP Ambani, his wife and three children have moved into the building which is named Antilia, after a mythical Island. It contains a health club with a gym and dance studio, at least one studio, a ballroom, guestrooms and a range of lounges and a 50 seater cinema.

There is even an elevated garden with ceiling space to accommodate small trees.

From the top floors of the 173m high property are spectacular views of Mumbai and of the Arabian Sea.

The 53 year-old tycoon is not only the richest man in India but the fourth richest man in the world. In total there is reported to be 37,000 square metres of space, which is more than the Palace of Versailles.

To keep it running smoothly requires 600 staff.

According to Forbes magazine Ambani, who owns much of Reliance Industries, the oil, retail and biotechnologies conglomerate, is worth £18bn. He used to help run the company before falling out with his brother.

The glass, steel and tiles used to make the building are reported to be from local sources.

Ambani does not appear to be influenced by calls by the Indian prime minister, Manmohan Singh, for business leaders to be "role models of moderation".

Pinnacle@Duxton wins architecture award in Barcelona

By Channel NewsAsia, Updated: 08/11/2010

Pinnacle@Duxton

SINGAPORE : The Pinnacle@Duxton was among four Singapore projects that won top awards at the World Architecture Festival in Barcelona.

The HDB’s 50—storey residential project at Tanjong Pagar was named the World’s Best Housing Development, said a press release from the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA).

This is the second big global award for the project this year. In June, it was named the ’Best Tall Building’ by the Chicago—based Council on Tall Buildings & Urban Habitat.

The Architecture Festival, which saw entries from more than 500 projects from 61 countries, also chose the School of the Arts, Singapore as the top winner in the World’s Best Learning Building Category and the Helix Bridge under the World’s Best Transport Building Category.

A Singapore project in Bali in Indonesia, the Alila Vilas Uluwatu, took top honours in the World’s Best Holiday Building Category.

This is Singapore’s best showing so far at the annual awards which started in 2008.

Commenting on the stellar performance of Singapore architects at this year’s festival, Ng Lye Hock, Group Director of Architecture and Urban Design Excellence at URA said: "This is a clear demonstration of the strength and quality of Singapore architects. We hope this recognition will spur demand and desire for even better designs and architecure in Singapore."

The Overall Best Building of 2010 was the National Museum of XX1 Century Arts in Rome.

Other Singapore projects that won in previous years include the Bras Basah MRT station and the Met in Bangkok, both by WOHA Architects. — CNA /ls
