JASIN, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- A new Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) campus costing RM300 million will be built in Seri Mendapat, Semujuk, here, replacing an earlier proposal to build it in Serendah, Rawang, Selangor.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said the campus, with a capacity of 5,000 students, would be built on a piece of land belonged to Melaka Foundation and expected to be completed in 2013.
"The campus will have residential colleges, administration blocks, lecture halls and other facilities that will help Melaka city to become a hub for education," he told reporters after visiting the campus' site Wednesday.
Also present were Yayasan Basmi Kemiskinan chairman Datuk Zainal Abidin Sakom and Melaka UiTM campus director Datuk Prof Nadya Dr Mizan Hitam.
Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin was reported to have said that the project, to be implemented by Yayasan Basmi Kemiskinan, had been shifted to Jasin.
The original plan for the site in Selangor has been cancelled as the Selangor government refused to approve the project.

Satu ‘kebijaksanaan’ hingga yang dikendong berciciran
Alahai kesian orang Hulu Selangor.
Nak kata padan muka pun tak guna…nasi dah jadi bubur.

DATARAN 1MALAYSIA MERCU BARU PELANCONGAN

Peniaga raih manfaat pembangunan Pantai Klebang manfaatkan penduduk

SHAH FIRDAUS February 5th, 2010, 11:16 AM Melaka's Biggest Shopping Centre Opens
MELAKA, Feb 5 (Bernama) -- Melaka's biggest shopping centre, the RM500 million AEON Bandaraya Melaka, opened its doors Friday.
The soft opening was officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam.
The shopping complex, spread over approximately 126,162 sq m (1,358,000 sq ft), was originally scheduled for opening on Dec 17 last year. But it was rescheduled due to a gas explosion mishap at its food court area, three days before the opening, which killed two workers and injured 20 others.
AEON Co (M) Berhad has since taken the necessary measures to upgrade work at the affected food court section and this is due for completion by next month.
"We are ready to commence business by providing shopping comfort and convenience," the company said a media statement.
Its Chairman, Datuk Abdullah Mohd Yusof has target an annual turnover of between RM150 million to RM200 million for the shopping complex.
Meanwhile, Mohd Ali said AEON Bandaraya Melaka would help boost the number of tourists to the historical city, which recorded more than eight million visitors last year.
"With AEON Bandaraya, it is hoped visitors will spend more time, including their nights here, just to do shop," he added.
The complex has ample parking space with over 2,200 bays. Free parking is available from Friday until March 7.

3) since it is 1350k sq feet gross area, bukit tinggi still holding the largest!

I saw paper stated DP has 400 parking space & MP has 900. The opening of Hatten Square with 1,500 parking space will improve the frustration of finding parking space. It might alleviate the traffic congestion as well.

SHAH FIRDAUS February 8th, 2010, 12:34 PM High Court allows Firaco NV to remove ‘Eye on Malaysia’
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 8 — The High Court here today allowed a Belgian company, Fitraco NV, to enter the site of the ‘Eye On Malaysia’, a major tourist attraction in Melaka, and relocate the ferris wheel.
Judge Anantham Kasinather, who made the ruling in chambers, also ordered Fitraco to restore the grounds once the ferris wheel was dismantled.
According to a lawyer for Fitraco NV, Leonard Yeoh, with the decision, MST AD Suria Sdn Bhd, which was responsible in bringing the observation wheel to Malaysia, had to bear RM35,000 of the legal fees for the lawsuit while Eye On Malaysia Sdn Bhd (EOM) another RM10,000.
Yeoh said Fitraco NV is at liberty to do anything with the ferris wheel, including selling it.
Besides Yeoh, Fitraco was also represented by lawyer Cheah Soo Chuan while lawyer Adillah Ahmad Nordin appeared for EOM and lawyer Azirizal Mohd Zaid for MST AD Suria.
Fitraco NV, as the original owner of the Eye On Malaysia, filed the suit on Sept 15, 2009, after the two companies failed to pay RM17 million for the rental and freight of the ferris wheel to Malaysia in 2006.
MST Ad Suria is the company responsible for bringing the observation wheel to Malaysia as part of the attraction for the Visit Malaysia Year 2007.
It was installed at the Taman Tasik Titiwangsa here before being transferred to the Sungai Melaka river mouth on September 2008 and operated a month later.
Since starting its operation in Melaka, the Eye On Malaysia is said to have recorded a revenue of about RM5 million.
The Eye On Malaysia, which became a major tourist attraction in Melaka, was seized on Jan 7, forcing it to grind to a halt. — Bernama

yup. i have to agree that some of the shops here r combination of MP n DP.
Those new ones r either local brand or new brand just established.
Swatch is new in Melaka.
Some f&b also new in Melaka. JCO donuts, Papa John Pizza, Little Taiwan.
as for food avenue....they have a U shape of shop lots..while in the middle is small kiosks.
Those blasted including Old Town, Hailam Kopitiam n Station Kopitiam will be opening again. besides, Food & Tea (HK restaurant), Ajisen Ramen (Japanese) will be there. Secret Recipe....there's Gelato Fruity at 2nd floor opening if not mistaken.
No signs of Dragon-i, Sakae Sushi, Kim Gary, Haagen Dazs n MFM opening.
I do hope MFM will open but then....dont know why they dont plan to open in Melaka yet. MFM is better than Simply Fish IMO.
Domino's also said will open this year but not sure where.

It's impossible for D&G and Bally to open in Malacca now, even A|X is very unlikely to open here. All luxury brands located in KL, and only one available in Penang & JB respectively, that's Versace store at Gurney Plaza & CK at Aeon Tebrau. Malacca only have 2 middle range international brands Esprit & MNG stores at Dataran Pahlawan.
1 Borneo in KK have FCUK, CK Jeans and Dome because of the large population there. Maybe next year, Dome, Swensen's, TGI Fridays, San Francisco Coffee will open their outlets in Malacca. Fish & Co. is not expensive, but there are only few outlets in M'sia. Btw, I heard that Borders bookstore will open in Malacca, Ipoh & Sabah.
achkeen10 February 9th, 2010, 04:00 PM High Court allows Firaco NV to remove ‘Eye on Malaysia’

Malacca wants to negotiate for Eye on Malaysia
By MARTIN CARVALHO
malacca@thestar.com.my
MALACCA: The state government will negotiate with Belgian based company Fitraco NV, the owner of the Eye On Malaysia, to allow the giant ferris wheel to remain in Malacca.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said that lawyers for the Eye On Malaysia Sdn Bhd (EOM), the operator of the ferris wheel, will put forward several proposals to the company.
“The Eye has become a well-known landmark for locals and a tourist attraction.
“The people of Malacca would certainly feel sad if it is removed,” he told reporters during a visit to the state aquatic centre in Krubong here Tuesday.
Among the proposals, he said, was to allow EOM to continue to operate the wheel and pay Fitraco 60% of the ticket sales estimated at RM5mil per year.
“Another alternative that we are proposing is for the state subsidiary Perbadanaan Sungai dan Pantai Melaka (PSPM) to purchase the ferris wheel either through direct negotiations or through tender,” he said.
He added PSPM could also place a 10% down payment on the ferris wheel and pay the balance within three years.
“We respect the decision of the court and Fitraco’s right to do whatever it want with the ferris wheel.
“If it does decide to remove it from Malacca, the state will get another one to replace it,” he said.
The 62m ferris wheel, the tallest in the country, was brought into the country by MST Ad Suria Sdn Bhd and placed at Tasik Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur as part of the Visit Malaysia Year campaign in 2007.
Ad Suria subsequently entered into a joint venture agreement with state subsidiary Kumpulan Melaka Berhad in September 2008 to bring the Eye of Malaysia to Kota Laksamana next to the Malacca River.
On Sept 15 last year, Fitraco filed a suit at the High Court in Kuala Lumpur to recover a RM17mil debt owed to the company by Ad Suria.
Fitraco succeeded in gaininng control of the ferris wheel on Jan 7 this year and were subsequently granted the right by the High Court on Monday to take possession and remove it.

SHAH FIRDAUS February 10th, 2010, 11:38 AM CDC To Develop Mixed Industrial Area In Jasin
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 10 (Bernama) -- Corridor Development Corporation Bhd (CDC) will start developing a mixed industrial area covering 50 acres in Sungai Rambai, Jasin, Melaka middle of this year.
The project worth RM180 million will be jointly developed with Majlis Perbandaran Jasin (MPJ), and will see the setting up of a Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) centre, jetty and the redevelopment of Sungai Rambai town.
In a statement Wednesday, CDC said it received approval from the Melaka state government on January 18 to develop the industrial area.
CDC Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Muhammed Kassim, said the project will give significant impact to the development of Jasin district and the areas bordering Johor state as well as to the progress of Melaka in general.
Muhammed said the process of acquiring land for the project will be carried out by MPJ while the cost will be borne entirely by CDC.
The development, to be undertaken by CDC's subsidiary, KNVC Corporation Sdn Bhd, will encompass the development of commerce, industries and the restructuring of the Sungai Rambai town.
Apart from the CIQ complex, 158 units of shophouses and offices, as well as 344 affordable residential units will be built.
Other plans include the building of 40 terrace factory units, 48 units of semi-detached factories and 17 factory lots.

tomkat February 18th, 2010, 01:22 PM yes, even in britain, there are tons of terrace housing
Yes. But in Britain renovation to the facade of the terrace houses is not allowed. Occupant needs to get an approval from the local community for any external renovation to be carried out on his/her unit. He/she can't even change the color.
Malaysia should introduce the same law to ensure uniformity to the neighborhood.

teckkang February 19th, 2010, 01:18 PM terrace development is good, but the problem lies with the typology of terrace housing in malaysia- low cost, poor built quality, all because in the name of money. Terrace development allows mixed-development (residential on top floors, commercial on ground floor), which is a sustainable strategy for a city, and it is very valid in malaysia, provided if better design, and higher density (not only 2-4 storey, but 5-8 storey) are adopted. In malaysia, developers can develop terrace housing without the architect, simply because holistic design is not always the priority in these development in malaysia.
daeng_jal February 19th, 2010, 05:17 PM ^^ never seen such mix development Terrace in malaysia..
its a good strategy, i agreed, just like in HK where almost ll building were mix development with shop on the GF and above fill with apartment or office..
the problem is that here, terrese were single usesage, making our city spreading to huge, low density and too reliance on car..making the road jammed, and public transit unsustainable..not to mention the huge subsidies on oil to make things run..
weird thing the gov realise they cannot continued this trend, the high fuel price and pothole in KL is the testimonies on how highly stretch are the limitation of our gov resources.
but the continued to allowed such development to still be build...

Yup, shophouses just encourage urban sprawl and do nothing to help with the general aesthetics of the city. Let's do away with them and build something with character and bigger, like a neighbourhood mall containing all the shops and services, and linked with a good transportation network. On the other hand, I'm OK with terrace houses as long as they are built with good taste, instead of the ugly rows of them that you see in the older "Tamans" in most of the townships in Malaysia. Still prefer taller condominiums or flats to house the bulk of the people though.
One thing that doesn't make sense to me is that when land is reclaimed in Melaka, rows of generic-looking shoplots are built on it. What a waste! That, to me, is kinda dumb.
Vince February 19th, 2010, 09:35 PM If I remember correctly, there is one town council in Johor (Pontian or Mersing...can't remember) that has a regulation that strictly impose uniformity in building colour for shophouses...
Most towns and cities in Johor have that kind of regulation. Muar, JB, etc.....
daeng_jal February 20th, 2010, 03:07 AM The land is reclaom not out of nessasities, but someone wanted to be rich and create land where there onces no land.and cheap too
Unfortunatly the only thing that dwvelopwer wanna build and citizen wanna buy is ungly generic shoplot n teres..

Melaka, KL bandar kasut
KUALA LUMPUR 19 Feb.
dengilo February 21st, 2010, 11:31 AM The truth of the matter is that people keep buying no matter how crap it is!Its simple law supply and demand. If people just refuse buying and demand better surely the developers will have to come up with something better!Better still build first then we decide if we like it!

simple way to demote the inteest in these 2 properties relied on the goverment actually, just let the 2 property be leasthold for say 60 years, while high rise will be given freehold title, update the law on property managment and so fort...

Kemudahan trem diperkenal
MELAKA 18 Feb. – Kerajaan negeri berhasrat memperkenalkan sistem kemudahan trem bermula dari Jalan Ayer Keroh lama ke pusat bandar dalam usaha mengatasi masalah kesesakan jalan raya.
Ketua Menteri, Datuk Seri Mohd.
Sirat Abu.

KAMPONG BUNGA RAYA PANTAI: As the Heritage City of Melaka continues to grow from strength to strength to reach its fully developed status, a number of old homes and villagers have to vacate and move elsewhere to make way for more projects.
The newly extended RM190 million Melaka International Airport recently opened by Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is a positive step to attract and bring in more tourists here to Melaka.
Another one of the state's ambitious Aerorail Transit System, a RM1.8 billion private venture is set to commence in the middle of the year, leading to a long term economic benefits upon completion.
Among the villagers affected are those residing in Kampong Bunga Raya Pantai including the 19th century Hai Long Kong temple. Some of the villagers have moved upon receiving compensation from the state government recently. Others are in process of moving to another housing estate. However the century old temple may stay put but will be just shifted a few metres away to accomodate the beams and rail lines for the Aerorail Transit System project.
Hai Long Kong temple Advisor Wong Soo Tang speaking at the temple's Chinese Lunar New Year celebration cum buffet dinner for its supporters and well wishers at the temple premises in Kampong Bunga Raya Pantai said that it is a win-win situation for both the state government and the temple management.
"The temple management have come to accept that the heritage city belongs to the tourists during weekends with traffic congestion in the popular tourist belt a common occurence during festive and school holiday season," said Wong adding that relocation for homes and buildings is necessary. However many of the villagers including the temple management felt that, the temple being well over a hundred years old should be treasured and not just demolished and pulled down.
"It is already an heritage building and since we have a vacant lot in front of the temple it is more feasible to shift the temple forward to avoid blocking the on-going project," said Lim Hock Seng who is temple Chairman.
Wong and Lim would also like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam and the state government for their compensation not only to the temple but to the residents for the relocation exercise. A sum of RM96,000 was paid to the said temple.
"By erecting a new building metres away from the current site will definitely reduce high costs," said Wong adding that the money from the compensation will be fully utilised to see a colourful and attractive site which could be viewed by both the local and foreigners when travelling using the aerorail.
The state government has forked out RM1.45 million in compensation to 42 property owners and tenants in Kampung Bunga Raya Pantai coveirng an area of 1.8ha plot, following the acquisition of an area next to Malacca River for redevelopment.
Demolition work are already in progress as the residents have been given until April to move out of the area. Besides compensating the owners, the state will provide gratuitous payments of RM2,000 each to tenants occupying semi-wooden dwellings. To assist the affected families, the state would help source homes for them to rent temporarily. The redevelopment would include the construction of a hotel, commercial lots and an aquarium to complement efforts to beautify Melaka River

40 Kilometer Dari Ayer Keroh Ke Bandaraya
MELAKA PERTAMA MILIKI TRAM

pheewwit March 3rd, 2010, 01:50 PM Melaka bina sistem pengangkutan trem
Kerajaan Melaka diwakili Ketua Menteri, Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam, manakala MISB oleh Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif MrailsTram Melaka Sdn Bhd, Datuk Mohamad Shamsherudin Mohd Shariff.

MELAKA: Historic Melaka will be introducing a RM272 million tram transportation system which will begin at the Plaza Tol Ayer Keroh here and cover 23 locations and a distance of 40 km to downtown.
Work on the project, which is still awaiting approval from the Transportation Ministry, is expected to take off in May this year with completion and operations expected in May or June next year.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said the tram system will be powered by natural gas, the first such tram to be introduced in the world with a speed of 60 to 80 km per hour.
The project will be a joint venture between the Melaka State Government, through its Chief Minister Incorporated (CMI), and MRails International Sdn Bhd (MRails).
"The building of this tram system is in line with the progressive Melaka (Melaka Maju) 2010 status and will enhance the public transportation system in Melaka which gets congested especially during the weekend," Mohd Ali told reporters following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between CMI and MRails here today.
Also present at today's event was the Patron of MRails, Tengku Muda Pahang Tengku Abd Rahman ibni Sultan Ahmad Shah, Melaka State Secretary Datuk Wira Omar Kaseh, President of MRails Datuk Jeya Kumar and Chief Executive Officer of MRails Datuk Mohamed Shamsherudin Mohd Shariff.
CMI will have a 20 per cent interest in the project while MRails which has a paid-up capital of RM1 million will hold the rest. The funding of the project will be via private funding initiative.
The tram has a maximum capacity for 40 coaches and 6,000 passengers.
The number of passengers expected to use the tram services has been projected at 250,000 passengers a month.
Mohd Ali said fares will be at RM2 one way while for senior citizens and school children, it will be free.3
Among the popular spots the tram will pass on its route are Hotel Seri Malaysia, Botanical Gardens, Melaka Zoo, Melaka International Trade Centre, Taman Muzaffar Shah, Pantai Hospital, Masjid Al-Azim, Hospital Melaka, Renaissance Hotel, Dataran Pahlawan, Hotel Mahkota, Harbour Club, Equatorial Hotel and Bukit Baru.
The main station will be located at a 20-hectare area at Plaza Tol Ayer Keroh which will also include the development of a parking area for vehicles.
Meanwhile, Jeya told reporters that the tram, which will run on a single track, will be air-conditioned and the first model coach will be brought in from China.
He said Mrails had a partnership with CNR Tangshan Railway Vehicle Co Ltd (China), the biggest manufacturer of rail transport vehicles in the country.
The remaining coaches for the Melaka tram system will be built up in Tanjung Agas, Pahang which will include spare part facilities.
The Melaka tram is expected to operate from five in the morning to midnight with its frequency three to five minutes apart during peak hours.
"The people and tourists here will be getting the best in convenience through the tram transportation system which will be employing a green technology and be people-friendly as well," Jeya added.- Bernama

evoonsa March 4th, 2010, 06:16 AM Do we need that many different types of transport mode in a Melaka? Is good to hear that we have development and improvement but does all this project has taken any major concern and research before implementing it? 250k passenger a month I doubt that it will have that many passenger!!! Do u think people who drive down to MLK from SG or KL would want to take a transit to tour around in da city? Unless the transit is well organize and build then YES!! I am sure. Just hope that all this transportation are well connected and linked up please dun end up that two different types of transport mode are being build APART and charge APART.
I am happy to hear that we have leap to a major "upgrade" interm of transportation mode since we are so sad with our "wonderful" bus system and "Beautiful" bus that we still have. When i was 16 i saw "tai lai" and after 14 years " i still see the same "tai lai". Well if during this years, we have improvement on our bus system and buses. Then only I agree with such project it will work. Or else, is just sound so fishy about the millions of money being pour and ended riching someones pocket!
just my two cents

Aeon Bukit Tinggi, Klang is better in terms of some tenants, they have Esprit, MNG, G2000..etc. Aeon Bandaraya Melaka got some stores which the int. decor are gorgeous. If the ground floor ceiling is higher, Aeon Bandaraya Melaka will be the most beautiful Aeon mall, maybe because it is new. I like the lifts which are beautifully design with different colors.
Almost all of the stores at Aeon Cheras Selatan int. decor lost to Aeon Bandaraya Melaka. The only advantage of Aeon Cheras Selatan is the ground floor ceiling is higher.
Btw, I only been to Aeon Bukit Tinggi, Bandaraya Melaka & Cheras Selatan. So I am not sure about the design at Aeon Seberang Prai, Aeon Tebrau, Aeon Bukit Indah & Aeon Seremban 2.

Hopefully, the shops facing the Melaka river will soon attract businessmen to set up cafes and restaurants so that the river will come alive in the evenings.

oh thx. I forgot about hatten square and arab city. But i don consider arab city a shopping mall lah. As far as i know, there wil be no popular shoplots like KFC,McDonald,Espirit etc.
Any news about carrefour alor gajah? I hope they wil build their own mall in Malacca City instead of Alor Gajah.

daeng_jal March 8th, 2010, 06:51 AM Kerajaan Negeri Wajar Dapat Hasil
KAJI SEMULA CUKAI MARITIM - MOHD ALI
Turut hadir, Pengarah Urusan Team Marine Shipyard (M) Sdn Bhd, Hanafi Halim, Pengarahnya, Ishak Abdul Rahman; Pengurus Besar Invest Melaka, Ramli Ali; Pengarah Lembaga Kemajuan Perindustrian Malaysia (MIDA), Ruzlisham Mat Diah dan wakil-wakil Persatuan Nelayan Negeri Melaka dan wakil Mammoet Salvage, Peter Van Der Kraan.

nazrey March 10th, 2010, 06:18 PM Khalil Proposes Complex Dedicated To Hang Tuah In Melaka
March 08, 2010 16:58 PM
MELAKA, March 8 (Bernama) -- The Yang Dipertua Negeri of Melaka Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob has proposed the building of a housing complex dedicated to Malay warrior, Hang Tuah, as a new tourist product.
He said the complex should project Hang Tuah as a well known statesman, ambassador and silat exponent.
"With a hall, silat arena and his staff's housing quarters it will be a tourist attraction.
"It will make Hang Tuah more well known as a Melaka icon on par with other international legends and be an inspiration to the present generation," he said.
The complex was among several proposals by Mohd Khalil to further develop Melaka's tourism sector in his speech to open the Melaka State Assembly sitting at the Seri Negeri complex in Ayer Keroh here on Monday.
He said now Melaka's leaders were only known through road names or their graves without much information and this does come to bear on the new generation.
Mohd Khalil also suggested that Melaka-produced products be branded and that Pulau Besar be made a well known tourist draw in the region.
He called on local authorities to pay attention to aspects of cleanliness and beauty of green spots as a tourism attraction.
The sitting continues tomorrow.

MELAKA CATAT KDNK RM15.9 BILION - MOHD ALI
10 Tahun Pertumbuhan Luar Biasa
BUKTI SOKONGAN RAKYAT TERPELIHARA
AYER KEROH, 8 Mac - Yang di-Pertua Negeri, Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob, kagum dengan pencapaian gemilang Melaka sejak 10 tahun lalu menerusi pembangunan pesat dalam semua bidang sosio-ekonomi dan infrastruktur sehingga berjaya membawa Melaka mencapai status negeri maju.
Gelanggang Sukma XIII Melakahampir 95 peratus siap
2010/03/09
"Kompleks Sukan Utama hampir siap.
Beliau berkata demikian ketika berucap merasmikan Persidangan Pertama, Penggal Ketiga Dewan Undangan Negeri Ke-12 di Dewan Undangan Negeri, Seri Negeri, pagi tadi.

METROJAYA....hmm....where will they open if they wanna open??
Plaza Melaka Raya?? lol
or new malls?? which i dont know where....
achkeen10 March 14th, 2010, 09:40 AM the country southern largest aeon right...the claim in newspapers
me and me cousin also think soo,..we lso think that the store re much better ... dun knowler if our our observation were influences by blind patriotism
for now ler, when terbrau city is done with the ikea and tesco extension... it will not be...
i have a feeling that parkson n cold storage will bungkus..unless the gov wiling to negotiate with jj to turn melaka mall into the like OU with a/c linked bridge...
ohh ali rustam is on facebook, comelah let go and whine there..and sometimes he does reply back.....but right now its still full with bn goons kissing ass...and i really dun wanted to be the only bad blood complaining by me self...
i wonder is Parkson Melaka Mall doin well....and also Cold Storage. The mall has nothing much except the cinema. Even the cinema also not in a very good condition....(ie didnt maintain the cleanliness of the cineplex)
AEON Bandaraya has the LARGEST Jusco Store in msia. not the largest AEON mall also. AEON Bkt Tinggi is bigger....and of course the tenants also better.
may i ask, when is the exploded section open to public??
achkeen10 March 14th, 2010, 09:40 AM they are fixing it tonight.
how they linked?? from where to where? to the MP taxi stand or link to the inside of the mall??
achkeen10 March 14th, 2010, 09:45 AM if only all high rise gather around the city centre...then it would look more like a city.
the high rise too spread out d.....Ayer keroh MITC one area....Klebang another area.
Even in the city itself also spread out....Melaka Raya, Jln Hang Tuah, and Jalan Bendahara.
Sad to hear that the reclaimed land will have quite alot of shoplots....rather than hotels. I do hope that the hotels will invest n open at the beach....so called Gold Coast melaka. Then, more high rise like glass buildings instead of normal ones. This will look more classy and modern city.
Mixture of old n modern.
9MMRD March 15th, 2010, 03:39 AM how they linked?? from where to where? to the MP taxi stand or link to the inside of the mall??

Dont think they were doing so well..exp cold storage..they had close the sushi bar,and all luxury food item r replace by normal thing, now rhe owner also change to mbmb..unless they can link to inside jj like OU, then it sure doom, old jj also loss lots of customer..might as well merge to create the nessasary economic of scale....
From my overservation bkt tinggi is probably slightly bigger in twrm of nla..cant relly twll the diff..bkt tinggi has better tenant but bandaraya shop deco is really good looking..
Relly hate the design of shoplot fronting aeon..should built something like capsquare punye sshoplot...even ijm alao build what a rm2 strartup company is building

Eventhough it fragmented,.just hope one day it will somehow links together, but it just taking soo long
The reclaim land is a disapointment...but big company avoid melaka sue to its saturated market. Low ROI and huge risk that building u bill might turn out a failure..ao small company reclaim the land..but dont have the skill, vision or the money to build good property, they just wanna build, make some buck fast and close shop..thw thing that sells like hotcake in malaysia is no other than shoplot n teres houses...

The arena food court of Aeon Bandaraya Melaka is so much better and bigger than Aeon Bukit Tinggi. Aeon Bandaraya Melaka only lost in terms of a few tenants and the ground floor ceiling is lower. It's the most beautiful Aeon mall in terms of int. decor. When will the cinema open and I didn't even see Gelato Fruity at 2nd floor. Redbox/Greenbox should be open there.
prosibu March 15th, 2010, 08:02 AM i went jusco tinggi last week and i measured the department store of it and it is around 90k sq feet comparing to melaka 74k sq feet (all roughly) for 2nd floor each
for its supermarket is 60k sq feet compare to melaka 47k sq feet.
for cashier tinggi got 20 melaka 22 cheras selatan seems 20 too
padini concept store both are same but aeon melaka looks big..
popular bookstore tinggi is 16k sq feet compare to melaka 8500 sq feet.
int decoration of coz tinggi win la. they have put some design for tinggi but melaka just paint all the same yellowish color for 3 floors...
for center court/concourse, aeon melaka win because it is larger!
floor ceiling cheras selatan win all... the supermarket really looks tall and big although just 30k sq feet ...
for sing k place... i tot tat ad got DAISO japan there? I hope tat DAISO fail to open there.. coz melaka no need to have 2 DAISO..

nazrey March 15th, 2010, 08:21 AM Melaka River Cruise Need To Be Extended Upstream To Attract More Tourists
March 15, 2010 10:27 AM
MELAKA, March 15 (Bernama) -- The Melaka River Cruise currently serving only a stretch of Sungai Melaka, need to be extended further upstream to enable tourists to enjoy the serene beauty of flora and fauna throughout the river.
Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said tourists from abroad are always attracted and interested in places that offer nature's delights, thus provide a boom to tourism in Melaka.
"For the locals, coming across iguana, birds and other animals may be a daily routine but to tourists, it is an exciting experience," she told reporters after cruising Sungai Melaka here Sunday night.
The river boat cruise sails the shallow Malacca River from her river mouth in Bandar Hilir to Kampong Morten where the boat makes her return trip, a distance of about 10km from the jetty and takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
The Melaka River Cruise, managed by the River and Beach Development Board, has about 40 boats serving the route which is used about 60,000 locals and tourists, every month.
Ng said the Melaka River cleaning and landscaping project which involves a cost of about RM320 million would become an asset for tourism in the state.

The popular bookstore at Aeon Bukit Tinggi is the biggest, it's obvious. I mean the shops int. decor of Bandaraya Melaka are better than Bukit Tinggi, views should not be mislead by the lower ceiling of the ground floor. Yes, the int. decor of Aeon mall itself, Bukit Tinggi is better. I like the ground floor of Aeon Cheras Selatan supermarket, it looks grand and big as the ceiling design is very high. But almost all the shops design lost to Aeon Bandaraya Melaka.

daeng_jal March 16th, 2010, 06:34 PM 96 Peratus Penuhi Indikator Ditetapkan
MELAKA DIIKTIRAF NEGERI MAJU - OECD

daeng_jal March 20th, 2010, 08:33 AM Hasil Lawatan Kerja Delegasi Melaka Ke Paris
4 KEJAYAAN BESAR

achkeen10 March 21st, 2010, 06:02 PM checked out AEON ytd.....ya they have a lot beside daiso...but its a small one. not a big one also. doubt it can fit a karaoke place. maybe kbox lo...lol
Stonegrill......ntg special. not that cheap. Biz also nt that good. plus...service kinda bad. maybe its good to try once. not 2nd time.
Mahkota Parade still have final touch up.....april sud be grand reopening.....saw the overhead bridge...looks cheap. should have make it modern design and classy.
Heard that Parkson Melaka Mall is not continuing and Metrojaya is replacing them. (that also depends on the sales held in MITC for the past few days)
daeng_jal March 21st, 2010, 09:52 PM ^^
the lot behind daiso is small, but in the directory it suppose to be long
problem is melaka mall, soon arab city, senyum even giant is too small to attract people, changing tenant will not change anything...,since MM is owned by MBMB, they can always force old JJ to connect both mall like OU
i see theres is a potential to turn the area from mlk sentral to plaza hang tuah and future BERJAYA build mall as a shopping district..but need gov intervention lah..like installing street furniture to attract people moving up and down..then they can then further entered and explore the old town..
example of nice street furniture

daeng_jal March 22nd, 2010, 07:17 AM hotel armada kat mana?
brain_failure March 22nd, 2010, 08:26 AM hotel armada kat mana?
No armada hotel in melaka. Or could it be the hotel is going to be built? Actually 1 flyover only not enough. Malacca has too many traffic lights.
daeng_jal March 22nd, 2010, 10:06 AM i think they wanted "series" of flyover from ayer keroh to the city...but for me,..no need flyover lah...waste of tax payer money only, just turn most road into one way street, one stupid simple looking flyover cost 20mil and does not solve the problem anyway..better use this 20mil to build clinic or school, much needed park or putrajaya like community centre...or 40 panorama busses...or more mini mlk central like terminal anyway uplands..
always like the one way street, went i go back to melaka, its fun..
the road in melaka, goes round and round, round and round, round and round, the road in melaka goes round and round, early in the morning..

i think u have figured it wrongly. Daiso is taking the WHOLE lot....the long one. it is not possible Daiso having a small outlet. the LONG one will be consider big for Daiso.
melaka dont really have a huge mall. the most also AEON or Mahkota. Thats also kinda small.
BERJAYA may only build hotel instead of combination of mall, offices n hotel...though the place is big.
achkeen10 March 22nd, 2010, 02:52 PM No armada hotel in melaka. Or could it be the hotel is going to be built? Actually 1 flyover only not enough. Malacca has too many traffic lights.
maybe is Hotel Ramada / renaissance. but its not possible also....how can they build flyover from Ayer Keroh toll to renaissance? not possible...and maybe will spoilt the heritage status.
i also agree that melaka has too many traffic lights. they should convert into U-turn as they may reduce traffic jam?
flyover is only viable is the road is big....like 6 or 8 lanes.
achkeen10 March 22nd, 2010, 02:55 PM not orchard road like lah, that just to much

actually u can consider DP and MP one. DP field area / the dome area....sud have more F&B. then it would be good.
theme park?? Melaka town itself is a mini theme park. lol....
Melaka malls are just disappointing....they should at least complement with each other instead of having more of the same shops/outlets.
bout GSC....not very sure....but AEON there din put any ads bout which cinema opening. still having banner for leasing pls contact.....
steve_skyline March 22nd, 2010, 04:31 PM citibank opening soon in malacca
Do u have any idea where's the citibank will be, melaka raya ? The new office building behind senyum looks nice, problem is it's only 6 floors. I suppose the tenants haven't moved in yet, Tai Thong restaurant will be one of the tenants, is it ? Btw, Renaissance hotel has been Malacca tallest since 20+ yrs ago & the Emperor hotel is damn ugly. Malacca really needs to build more glass/steel highrises in city centre instead of building all those normal concrete 6-10 floors hotel. It will make one city looks much more modernized. How many floors will be the u/c apartment at Jalan Tun Ali ?

hu hu, big daiso..l really like those cheap, weird japanese product in there..aeon are aeon, they try to minimize entertainment so that they don't attract the "wrong" crowds..just like tesco for people wanting cheap stuff and won't mind the cheap building, if one wanna buy cheap stuff but still feel good,go to mydin, inside are better looking than MP,stuff are cheap but the F&B is not..
erms, erms, i will confidently say, that BERJAYA will build a mall,
simply bcoz tan sri will need a place to put, his krispy cream,7E, borders, wendy's, sport toto, UMOBILE and so on..

DP one is green color.....KL ones r red color Daiso....which AEON also having the red one. perhaps green is a smaller version??
entertainment is standard la.....majority of big AEON malls have cinema and karaoke place.....AEON tebrau city, bukit tinggi, seberang perai city, cheras selatan.
but Berjaya only have one mall managed n built by them rite?? which is BTS.
any other Berjaya malls??
i also hope they build a mall...n with the franchise outlets owned by berjaya grp. it will perhaps have more F&B outlets than fashion outlets.
achkeen10 March 23rd, 2010, 06:36 AM Sorry ya, i mean the project beside senyum, looks kinda tall.

oh ya. ktn berjaya megamall...last time used to be the best mall in kuantan...but now East Coast Mall is much better. i do think that ECM is much better than MP n DP combined. (as in the tenants)
