Hello everyone, this a new project up in Basrah that is sure to be amazing when complete. I have updated pictures up to April the 25th. The project is a reconstruction of the old Basrah Land. It has an artificial creek, and many different kinds of rides. The project has already started and here are some pictures:

Rather than a pyramid, a Ziggurat would have been more suitable, though it looks fantastic nonetheless.

It is open now, Im going nuts to find some pictures for 2 days now, but their official website got nothing so far!

However, I found 2 videos for the opening if you are interested, I did not post them because they come as part of a long news report on youtube from Alforat TV, evening news, 4th of June. Opening the Project of Amusement Park (Al Basrah Land)

With the considerable presence of many officials from the local government, businessmen and media, Dr. Sheltagh Aboud, the governor of Basrah province opened the amusement park of Basra (Basrah Land) which is one of the investment projects that has been granted


Mr. Mansour Na'eem ,the project manager said" The project included the establishment of Amusement park in the same location of the amusement park of Al Ma'kal which includes 24 different modern games working according to a developed technological system suitable for all ages ,it also includes restaurants ,coffee shops,pools,fountains.He also added" soon we will install the biggest windmill in the middle east with 45meters height as well as more modern games are to set soon."

lol have you been there to judge? and any stimulus to basra's economy including fun parks is good news, it'll attract media attention and cause more investment in the area.

i agree. unfortunately this park is really nothing to shout about. but it is better than nothing, a usable stop gap if you will.

with Basra becoming increasingly the number one location for expatriate workers in Iraq you can bet that the situation will change rapidly.

so it is not 'thorpe park', but at least it serves as a place for family and friends to relax and enjoy life in one of the most dangerous countries in the world. where's the wrong in being excited, its great news.

yeah its nice, they can always add new rides in the future...
i know, im happy that basra is finally developing, you could always donate money to local charities, but then again i dont know which ones are legit

the rides doesnt look bad, i honestly thought they would be some crap rides :P i love the go cards

just look at how many people are there. theres big $$ in these projects since most people are trying to catch a break from all the wars and sanctions and extremists which happened/happening in iraq. im just surprised theres not more of these projects.
