So what's up with this building? Is construction starting soon? It says it will be u/c in 2004 and finish in 2006. But it also says that this project has been stalled quite a few times. I would hate to see this cancelled...the design is to die for...

It's at Howe and what?

I used to live on Haro and Bute before I moved back to Europe.

I might not "off" myself, but I'll probably skip a meal or two...

This building is still happening. The Business in Vancouver weekly report was just talking about it last week. They said construction was starting in 2005 if I remember correctly.

Canada really needs a building of this standard to be built!! It would definately be one of the best if not the best looking buildings in Canada. I'm afraid I don't know much about it... except for the fact that it has been in the approval/proposal stage for sometime.

I'm still puzzled as to what the finished product will actually look like. I mean what will the glass shards be? Living space? or just empty glass with coloured illuminated lights inside? Either way this building is cutting edge!

The top will likely be mechanical space. The proposal seemed to be on hiatus for a while after it was approved by the Development Permit Board, it's back on the Council agenda - so it looks like it's proceeding soon.

I really want the building to get built too but I wish they would allow it to be taller. It was originally supposed to be around 600 feet but city council made them make a shorter version because of height restrictions. But I think a building like this should be allowed to stand higher than the other buildings as to not be mostly hidden by them.

I thought they had planned 550 feet and then it was approved. Then, Thom went back to the city for 600 feet but that was denied because of the NIMBY rants. But i agree with you, it should've been allowed to stand higher.

Finally, an attractive Vancouver building. I really like it.
Is this going to be residential, hotal, or office.
