Hamburg: Cornerstone laid for “Tanzende Türme”

In the St. Pauli district of Hamburg, Strabag Real Estate has laid the cornerstone for its office and hotel project called “Tanzende Türme,” or “Dancing Towers.” Two office towers with a total gross floor area measuring 33,357 sqm are under construction for approximately €135mn. The main user of the office space will be the Strabag group. The Mojo music club rented 1,600 sqm of usable area for a term of 25 years. Moreover, a hotel with 217 rooms belonging to the Vienna-based Arcotel group will be built as an eight-story wing. The investment volume for this part of the building amounts to €45mn. The designs for the project were drafted by Bothe Richter Teherani (BRT). The completion of the entire project is slated for the summer of 2012.

Hehe, the cute version of the dancing towers in Dubai (that was proposed somewhere long ago). But I like these.

Fantastic design, can't wait to see these built.

On a side note, I'm always amazed at the glass and cladding quality of German buildings of the last 10 or so years.

The Tango Towers keep rising up! Right now they are building the 17th floor ... The north tower will be 22, the south tower 24 floors.

A little correction to the thread title: the Tango Towers will be 84,9 meters tall!
