nezzybaby May 8th, 2010, 09:08 PM Seriously JRB, is this thread really necessary? I don't know if you've noticed but there is a fair bit of election discussion going on in the Skybar already. I'd wager 80% of it is about electoral reform right now, why not have a look in the general election thread, there may be something of interest to you.

JollyRoger May 9th, 2010, 06:37 AM spontaneous demonstrations are illegal now though, aren't they? Thanks to idiot Blunkett.
Everyone's a terrorist I suppose.
Gherkin May 9th, 2010, 06:48 AM So who do you inform if you're planning a demonstration? Will me posting my protest ideas on these forums count as the protest not being spontaneous, and so, perfectly legal? Or do I need to send a letter? Because, if so, I'll send as many letters as I can to as many different people informing them that a million people are expected to flock to the city centre in mass protests at something or another on a number of made up dates. I'll cry wolf all day long.

What. a. bitch. Totally agree, where's her reporting skills?
SimonTheSoundMan May 9th, 2010, 01:51 PM British Columbia is a fine example of how disproportionate our current systems is.
One party in 1996 got more votes, but the other party gets a majority of seats.
2001 the liberals got 58% of the vote, but they ended up with 97.5% of the seats.

cheaperthrillz May 9th, 2010, 04:06 PM What. a. bitch. Totally agree, where's her reporting skills?
WTF! Can't believe how blatantly bias that is, all newspapers, media corps have their own agenda, but never seen any ammateur impartial reporting as pathetic and stupid as her.
Republica May 9th, 2010, 04:16 PM In a CharlieP moment I'd just like to point out cheaperthrillz that the correct use of grammar in your post would be:
'...how blatantly biased that is'
You can bias someone.
But you are biased, not bias.
cheaperthrillz May 9th, 2010, 04:22 PM tar, It so would seem that the case is.
Bob May 9th, 2010, 06:56 PM Get Kay Burley sacked!

wow that's a right vitriolic attack!
I guess we know which side of the debate Murdock falls now. I'm going to email a complaint because that isn't remotely journalism.
Bachy Soletanche May 9th, 2010, 07:04 PM I didn't see a box for 'hung parliament' :dunno:

sky is turning in to a fox affiliate :ohno:
mic of Orion May 10th, 2010, 04:28 PM just made another complaint against kate cunt burley, i was told by the ofcom over 10 000 complaints against the cow. they even said they won't be able to send me a personal complain resolution due to so many ppl complaining so they'll post news on the website. lol,
i am contacting my mp now over sky abuse of our airwaves.
cle May 10th, 2010, 05:20 PM Wow.
What a horrible, unprofessional bitch. She should be sacked for that - it was totally out of order. And good on the guy for holding his ground although it looked difficult. He stayed good spirited and polite when I would have gone mental...
And she's shamed News Int by causing those amusing protests in the second clip - Murdoch won't like the "Watch the BBC! Sky News is shit! Murdocracy!" stuff going out on air. Keen to see how this one pans out...
Bob May 10th, 2010, 05:27 PM We've just been told the location of the Lib Dems make or break meeting on fair votes - and we need to be there at 5pm:
Emergency Rally
The Work Foundation, 21 Palmer Street, London, SW1H 0AD.
Let us know you're coming: http://takebackparliament.com/rsvp
Here's a map of where to go: http://takebackparliament.com/map
Come wearing purple if you can!
The Lib Dems Federal Executive Committee are meeting to decide the terms on which they'll go into coalition with the Tories. They need to know that we won't accept anything that doesn't include fair votes.
This is a crucial moment - can you leave work a little early and bring all your friends along to tonight's demonstration?
Please forward this to everyone who cares about a fair electoral system.
I can't make it, but keep an eye out for these guys they are highly committed to their cause.
mic of Orion May 11th, 2010, 03:43 AM another major demos arranged for the next Saturday,
Something special was started last Saturday. Over three thousand people in six simultaneous rallies across the country, the first time the head of a party has come out to answer the calls of the crowd, the beginning of a movement to take our parliament back!
But our work is far from done. We need a bigger Demo for Democracy than ever before at the heart of our politics, in Parliament Square on the 15th of May!
Remember, the election has produced another outrageous result with a massive mismatch between votes and seats. Our voices have been silenced.
- Scameron and the tories had largest number of seats but only 36% of the
votes
- Millions of votes have been wasted.
- People have been turned away from polling stations.
No matter what the colour of your political stripes, the current system is a democratic travesty and can’t continue.
*******
COME TO PARLIAMENT SQUARE AT 2PM ON THE 15TH TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE, TO BE COUNTED IN THE GROWING PURPLE PEOPLE'S MOVEMENT, AND TO MAKE SURE WE NEVER EVER HAVE ANOTHER ELECTION UNDER THIS BROKEN SYSTEM
*******
Visit the website to sign the petition, we need 100,000 signatures! http://www.takebackparliament.com/
You can also organise a demo in your own town. Get in touch with an admin and we can provide support - now is the time to act, now's the time to TAKE IT BACK!
