That was a part of the "Freetown of Christiania" a borough of Copenhagen occupied by 'hippies' in early '70s on a former industrial area (with even large green areas). Its population lives 'out of the rules': cannabis is free and all the houses are built by the hinabitants themselves with cheap materials and lot of fantasy (as the mini-stupa of the pic)
