Hyderabad: The Pearl City of India

Hyderabad: The Pearl City of India
Its globally renowned name ‘The Pearl City of India’ makes Hyderabad a true shopping hub. And the delectable variety of cuisines it has to offer makes this city a must-visit destination for visitors, especially for foreigners. So, utilising the global recognition of the City of Nizams, major real estate developers have set about the task of enhancing the retail potential of this vibrant city.

Shopping activity

The development of Maheshwari Megaventures Ltd.’s MPM Mall, which is strategically located at Abids area of Hyderabad, was launched in 2001. It is popularly known as the first shopping mall in Andhra Pradesh, and excites over 10,000 customers every day. The 1,80,000 square feet mall renders superb facilities for shopping, entertainment and dining, and features a fine blend of architecture and building services that was planned when shopping malls had just begun to come up in other parts of the country. “MPM Mall is managed by an expert team with several years of proficiency in mall management, and carries the distinction of being India’s first ISO 9001:2000 certified shopping mall,” shares Ashish Malpani, executive director, Maheshwari Megaventures Limited.

Its full-height (six-floor) atrium, spacious corridors, U-shaped building design and well-organised staff services collectively ensure clear visibility of all retail brands from the lobby, convenient movement across the mall and a hassle-free shopping experience. All floors are connected with capsule lifts with well-appointed operators for any assistance. A public address system and a large TV screen (8ft x 6ft) keep shoppers informed of ongoing offers and promotions in various stores. “An interesting feature in the mall’s lobby is a gigantic ship called ‘MPM Cruiser’ with a shopping arcade. If one wants a feel of the Titanic or a place to relax at while shopping, the deck of MPM Cruiser is the place to be on,” says Malpani. Ample parking space, valet services, a help desk, store directory, PCOs, and auto stand are other customer-friendly features of the property. The complex is equipped with a well-organised security team, electronic surveillance and fire fighting equipment.

The anchor store of the mall is Big Bazaar, which reportedly draws shoppers from across the state for its wide product range and value for money propositions. Sharing the retail experience of the city, Atul Takle, head – corporate communications, Pantaloon Retail (India) Limited says, “As a market, Hyderabad is one city with excellent potential. We have total of five Big Bazaars in Hyderabad. Besides these five, we also have 10 Food Bazaars (five of these are within the Big Bazaars); two Pantaloons outlets, two Brand Factory outlets, one Central, and five eZones, among other formats.”
Utilising the global recognition of the City of Nizams, major real estate developers have set about the task of enhancing the retail potential of this vibrant city.

Besides Big Bazaar, MPM Mall has over thirty leading brands catering to various segments. Other prominent tenants in MPM are Fashion Planet, Archies, Bajaj Electronics, Planet M, Health & Glow, Reliance WebWorld & Java Green, McDonald’s, Turtle, Garlic, TQS etc. “MPM Mall is doing much better than expected; the shoppers are aspirational enough to loosen their wallets on a plethora of goods and services. Our retail experience in Hyderabad is excellent, resultant of which, in couple of months we are planning to open three more stores in different areas of the city,” underlines Vijayant Chhabra, executive director, Archies.

The other operational mall of the city is Hyderabad Central, which is located on Punjagutta road. It was launched in 2004 by Pantaloon Retail (India) Limited. The seamless mall is spread over four levels.

Level one is devoted for food and women’s merchandise, level two for men, level three for youth and level four for kidswear and home accessories, including a food court. PVR Cinemas is located on the top floor of the mall. An exclusive play area has also been designed keeping in mind safety and fun aspect.

GVK One is another operational mall of the city.

“GVK group has its headquarters in Hyderabad and so the group knows no better market than Hyderabad,” says P Raghuram, AGM – Retail Marketing, GVK Group. Its location, Banjara Hills, makes it one of the most alluring business destinations. It is a sprawling urban entertainment centre complex complete with multiplex, entertainment, shopping & food offering a complete and brand new shopping experience to Hyderabad. “Location is the single most alluring feature of the mall. The brand & trade mix of the mall and presence of all convenience to customer -- from parking to retail experience -- makes GVK One unique,” he says.

“GLA of the mall is approx 3.5 lakh square feet. Inox and Shoppers Stop are the anchor tenants. The large food court and fun zone are major footfall drivers. The brand mix constitutes premium and sub premium brands, and keeping in mind the shoppers’ taste, some local flavours have also been sprinkled on,” says Raghuram.

The other operational mall is Sanali Mall, which is in Abids area of the city.

Hyderabad at glance

Laad Bazar is the famous traditional market for pearls and jewellery. The major shopping destinations of the city are – Ameerpet, Begumpet, Secuderabad, Abids, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Parks, Panjagutta, Kothi, Kamla Nagar, Moula Ali, and Kushaiguda.

Looking forward

MPM Bonsai is an upcoming mall, which is being developed at Himayatnagar, the busiest shopping district of the city. It is expected to feature a hydraulic car park system for the first time in Hyderabad. “There are no other malls coming up in and around MPM Bonsai Mall, so competition is minimal,” assures Malpani.

The other projects in the pipeline in the city are Kshitij, NSL, Lanco, IJM Mall, Indu Mall, The Village, and Hometown Mall.

“At present we don’t have any store in Hyderabad but in a couple of months' time we will be kicking off our stores. Hyderabad is one of India's most prosperous cities, and retailers cannot afford to not open stores here,” concludes Mark Ashman, CEO, Marks & Spencer Reliance India.

GVK One looking to open more malls

Hyderabad, June 4:cheers:

GVK One, one of the large destination stores in the upmarket Banjara Hills, has completed one year of operations, registering leasehold related revenues of Rs 45 crore and logging business of over Rs 150 crore.

The promoters of GVK One are now scouting for opportunities to locate a mega mall in Hyderabad and hinted that they could also consider similar facilities in other cities. They are also planning to open such facilities in the two airport projects that the GVK group currently manages – the Mumbai and Bangalore international airports. However, no decision has been taken.

The Managing Director of GVK One, Mr Krishna Ram Bhupal, who is also director on the board of the listed flagship company, GVK Power and Infrastructure Ltd, said that the project was fully booked in less than six months of its commissioning in spite of the economic slowdown.

Apart from providing direct employment to over 1,000 people, the 7.5-lakh-sq.ft mall now features some of the top global brands that have come to Hyderabad for the first time. These include Mango, Promod, MAC, Aldo, Charles & Keith, Lerros, and Da Malano.

“Having stabilised the operations, we are now in the process of revamping the entire food court, which will then keep the visitors captive to the mall once they enter, be it for shopping, entertainment, movies, gaming or even fine dining. Visitors always want something new,” he said.

Mr Bhupal said the focus is now on identifying sites held by the group to explore the possibility of replicating the success of the GVK One. “Within six months, we will finalise plans for the new venture,” he said.

Footfalls in the mall range between 30,000 and 35,000 on weekdays and go up significantly during weekends. However, this number varies according to season. The new food courts will increase the footfall, he said.

Pocharam is where Sanskruti(Singapore) Township was built 5 or 6 years back.. Its on Warangal Highway around 15 odd Km from Uppal.. The highway(NH 202) is 4 lane till this township.. After that i think NHAI has given the 4 laning of this highway till Warangal to some private company.

Hyderabad, Aug. 14: All establishments in the city that are visited by a large number of people, such as malls, mutiplexes, hospitals and commercial complexes will have to provide 40 per cent of the total built up area for parking space or else they will be sealed.

If the required space isn’t available within the premises, then space should be hired or purchased at a nearby location to provide parking for visitors.

In compliance with the directions of the Lok Ayukta, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, in co-ordination with the traffic police, has started inspecting such places to see if the management has adhered to the parking space rules. The corporation had recently received flak from the Lok Ayukta for not taking action against parking space violations in commercial establishments.

Due to inadequate parking space in malls and other commercial establishments, people have been parking their vehicles on the roads, causing perennial and irritating traffic jams.

“The GHMC and the traffic police are conducting the inspections. We will complete the inspections shortly and give time to the establishments to provide the required parking space as per the rules. Under Section 636 of the HMC Act,1955, we can close the establishments for failure to provide adequate parking space," said the additional commissioner of the GHMC, Mr K. Dhanunjaya Reddy.

While officials of the GHMC are focussing on the inspection of commercial establishments, the traffic police is identifying locations that face regular traffic jams, and the civic body is vested with the responsibility of initiating action against establishments that violate the rules

Prestige Group plans big in Hyderabad

The project will have exclusive villas priced in the range of Rs 1.8 crore and Rs 4.4 crore

V. Rishi Kumar

Hyderabad, Sept 28

The Prestige Group, one of the leading property developers in South India, today outlined its plans to enter the Hyderabad market with a Rs 140-crore Royal Woods housing project and a Rs 380-crore mega mall coming up in partnership with the Hyderabad-based Sujana group and Capita Land of Singapore.

The Senior Vice President of the Prestige Group, Mr Swaroop Anish, told Business Line the housing project in Hyderabad is coming up along the Outer Ring Road project on way to the new international airport in a 25-acre green site.

The project will have exclusive villas priced in the range of Rs. 1.8 crore and Rs. 4.4 crore.

Target customers

“The project is targeted at young couples , senior business executives and businessmen who are looking at exclusive residential projects wherein they can relax after a busy day's schedule. We have consciously decided not to have any apartments in this venture,” he said.

The company has, thus far, completed about 150 projects with a total built-up area of 34 million sq.ft.

“We are developing another 57 million sq.ft across various cities in South.

Venture with Sujana

The company had earlier entered into a pact with the Sujana group to develop a mega mall with an investment of Rs 380 crore.

The project is being executed in partnership with Capita Land, a company that specialises in developing malls.

This project, coming up in a four-acre site, will have about 8 lakh square feet.

DLF plans luxury malls in Hyderabad, Chennai:banana:

Press Trust of India, October 10, 2010 (New Delhi)
Original

Real estate developer DLF Ltd that currently operates luxury mall -- DLF Emporio -- in the Capital is considering to start similar projects in other big cities, including Hyderabad and Chennai, that are seeing traction for high-end brands.

"DLF Emporio has already broken even and is doing very well in terms of revenue generation. It is a very viable business," Singh said, although she declined to divulge the amount, developer invested on the mall.

According to her, the mall is currently operating at a conversion rate of about 70 per cent. Some of the brands in DLF Emporio include Giorgio Armani, Salvatore Ferragamo, Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Fendi, Dior, Just Cavali, Aigner, Tods, Tiffany’s, Burberry and Hugo Boss, along with some leading Indian designers.

"Even Chandigarh has good potential for selling luxury goods, but we are not sure whether it would be right to open another mall there due to its proximity to Delhi," she added.

Cities like Bangalore and Mumbai already have luxury malls such as the UB City and Galleria, respectively and entering there is a much lesser attractive option.

If experts are to be believed, there is a dearth appropriate retail space in India that is keeping many luxury brands away from the country.

"There is a serious need to have more retail spaces for luxury brands to expand or enter India," AT Kearney Principal Neelesh Hundekari.

According to a CII-A T Kearney report, India's luxury market, which is small compared to global standards, is likely to grow three times and touch $14.7 billion by 2015.

In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Sunil Punjabi, CEO, Cinemax India, spoke about the latest happenings in his company and sector.

Q: You have launched a slate of multiplexes in tier-II and tier-III cities in the past couple of months or weeks, etc. Can you then just tell us what sort of average ticket prices (ATPs) you are working with and what sort of occupancies do you expect and have seen already?

A: Just to answer your first question from an expansion perspective, we are growing into tier-II and tier-III towns. Focus for us as an organization has been looking at markets which are high on cinema consumption, cities like Malegaon and Amravati. Malegaon traditionally had a very strong cinema going population with the population mix that side.

We are getting into locations like Hyderabad, like we already have one multiplex in Hyderabad, we are adding another two in that space itself.:banana:Also, we are adding a couple of them, one in Delhi to start off with soon and another one in Raipur. So, from a growth perspective, we are focusing more into markets where traditionally cinema consumption has been fairly high.

In terms of the key performance parameters, like ATP, the ATP is fairly stable at the Rs 137 at the ticket price level and that’s how we have seen. Though the movies that we were expecting to really kick that, that has yet happened for this year. This quarter as well we saw very good Diwali weekend, but beyond that, the sustenance has been fairly low. Going forward, we are seeing at least couple of large releases like Tees Maar Khan coming in I think the numbers will then show up soon.

Q: So could you tell us little more about how many going forward are you all looking to add in terms of screen multiplexes, any number that you all are working with?

A: Currently, in the next six-eight months, we are looking at a number of around 30-35 screens to be added. We have taken handovers of all of them and they are into various stages of development. So, around 30-35 in the next six-eight months is where we are targeting immediately.

Q: Apart from that, the other focus for the company was also to develop some sort of gaming along with where you already have your theater facilities. So what's the kind of investment, have you outlined? Any more of development of gaming centers?

A: We have taken handovers almost another two-three gaming centers itself one being in Delhi and other being in Bangalore. So, the focus has always there, we have seen that being complimentary to the existing business that we are currently running and so that focuses continue to be around that side.

Q: Your occupancies were around 23% in Q2 FY11 and that was pretty much flattish, but you had really good releases in early half of Q3 FY11. What sort of occupancies in particular are you working with and be could possibly expect for the second half of the year?

A: For Q3 at least we are looking at good 4% to 5% point jump there in terms of occupancies. But Q4 traditionally has been the weakest quarters. But, yes, Q3 we are definitely looking almost 4% to 5% points higher occupancies.

Q: Can you just update us with your property at Ghatkopar? How exactly is that panning out? Is it still closed and would it be permanently closed? What is your capex plan particularly for tier-I cities?

A: The Ghatkopar property is already operational. I think there is some confusion on that side, but we are up and running. That location is in fact doing well. It’s heart of where the residential population is and we have started seeing that property now shape up also in the last couple of months. So, that property is doing well. In fact tier-I our focus has been into, we are potentially looking at a multiplex coming in Malad in Mindspace. That we have taken handover of Hyderabad, Pune, Delhi. Delhi, we are hopefully, we are almost in 70% to 80% developments which is completed:cheers:, so we will see that as well as Bangalore. Bangalore we have taken one handover and we will soon, in a week or in a couple of weeks, we will take the second handover as well. So, focus has been into tier A as well pretty strongly.
Does anyone know where this 2 cinemax multiplexes are coming in Hyderabad????

About the malls in Hyderabad. The one at Kacheguda has been completed and inauguration had been done by Actor Nagarjuna, Actress Sneha Ullal and Richa Gangopadhyay. I am copy pasting the link here which leads to the start of operations of the mall and some other fellow user posted all operations in the abids center are being shut down and transferred to this one. This mall has come up where the old Maheshwari and Parameshwari had been.

Not sure of your perspective on the Oct-Nov dates. My guess is you are considering hot summer weather?

On the flip-side, May is summer vacation time which does attract maximum tourists including from abroad. Considering this is a organized sector and setup indoors in temperature controlled malls, I think it would be ideal. But that's just my view. :)

Space in malls in the capital saw a marginal drop of five to six per cent in the last quarter. Leasing transactions too were very limited in the absence of fresh mall supply, Cushman & Wakefield study had stated.

While market sentiments were upbeat, most retailers explored the main streets for their expansion plans. Rentals stabilised across these streets barring Himayatnagar and Jubilee Hills Road No.36 where there was an appreciation of 11 per cent and eight per cent, respectively.

Stores also got operationalised in the Inorbit Mall at Madhapur which saw a vacancy of about seven per cent. Jubilee Hills Road No.36 saw matching supply being made available by select landlords for leasing whereas overall supply on most streets was scant. The study said that fresh mall supply was unlikely in the current year .

Select mall projects in Kukatpally are under various stages of construction and are likely to be completed in 2012 only. Till then, rentals barring Madhapur are expected to remain stable .

Any word about IJM mall in Kukatpally? Prasvanath Mall? NSL and Manjeera are close to completion, I hope we will have more movie theaters. Kukatpally people are currently missing high class movie theaters inspite of all development. Also, I propose over bridge at Rajiv Gandhi circle for pedestrians who are scared of crossing road at this junction. I hope GHMC reads this post, and approves this proposal. Bharti-Wal-Mart to launch Cash & Carry Stores in Hyderabad @ Saroornagar, Gachibowli

Bharti Walmart to launch their new Cash and Carry, Wholesale stores in Hyderabad Gachibowli and Saroornagar areas. At present we have only METRO in Kukatpally and Uppal areas. Once Bharti Walmart starts their business, have good competition with METRO. As per the news the new stores launching in next 2 months. Probably we can see new stores launch in the month of October or November 2011 in Hyderabad.

First store would be at Saroornagar area building with the help of Prajay Engineers Syndicate. This would be a very big commercial complex. Another one is in Gachibowli, Near Botanical Gardens named as 'SLN Terminus' in 3 acres of land. This store size is 60000 Square Yards.

Bharti Wallmart planned to launch their stores in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh as well. However Bharti Wallmart's first launch would be in Hyderabad.

We are yet to know the launch dates of Saroornagar and Gachibowli's Cash & Carry, Wholesale stores.

THE FIRST MILLION SFT MALL IN HYDERABAD
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6205/6069114514_71523b4963.jpg
CITY CAPITAL is the first one million sft. Mall at one-of-itskind address. Sophistication and scale reach a new benchmark and shopping will never be the same again in Hyderabad.

The sprawling million sft offers a vantage for millions of footfall, translating into visibility of millions of people and a multi-million business.

An architectural marvel that puts everything else in the shade, whether it is the landscaped grounds or the breathtaking interiors. Curtains rise on the city's truly world-class mall that will serve as a worthy showcase for the world's finest brands

A FOUR - LEVEL CAR PARKING SPACE FOR 4,000 CARS

CITY CAPITAL devotes four floors only for parking that take as many as 4,000 four wheelers at any time. That is unprecedented in Hyderabad's shopping history. The parking management is sophisticated and on par with global standards. The customers can straight away proceed to shopping without wasting time in traffic congestions while parking.
SOPHISTICATED MALL MANAGEMENT ON PAR WITH GLOBAL STANDARDS

The Mall Management is ultra-modern with a professional and dedicated team taking care of its administration. They offer round-the-clock, seamless, back-end services to the retailers. The fire safety system is among the best in the world and 24-hr professional security is helped by centralized electronic monitoring.

CITY CONVERGES AT CITY CAPITAL

CITY CAPITAL is a destination Mall. The easily accessible Mall is located in strategic and highly affluent neighborhood. The Mall is well connected to the hubs of Jubilee and Banjara Hills on one side, and in close proximity to the ORR and within easy drive to International Airport on other hand.

CITY CAPITAL at Kondapur is the converging point for Madhapur, Gachibowli, Miyapur where hundreds of world class IT companies, elite gated communities are flourishing. The high net worth catchment exist within a radius of five kms. of City Capital. The potential business and visibility are just mind blowing.

Gachibowli - Manikonda – Raidurg – Nanakramguda - Nallagandla -Tellapur areas are buzzing with new Projects! The silent and empty suburbs of Gopanpalli, Nallagandla have awakened to ‘Gated Bungalows'.

Information Technology Parks at Raidurg Manikonda, Tellapur, Gopanpally are likely to metamorphose these places beyond recognition.

Today, Nanakramguda has virtually become the “Downtown of Hyderabad” …!!!
This is due to the spill-over effects of Information Technology, that originally ignited the spark at Madhapur.

I reckon you have to pay a premium for parking, that would be a obstacle, if it is free parking then it would increase footfall. Let's see!!!!!!

Real estate developer DLF Ltd that currently operates luxury mall - DLF Emporio - in the Capital is considering to start similar projects in other big cities, including Hyderabad and Chennai, that are seeing traction for high-end brands.

"We are looking to open more luxury malls in cities like Hyderabad and Chennai," DLF Malls Business Head Savitri Devi Singh said.

The company is currently in talks with the existing tenants at its DLF Emporio for the same. "There are some 10-12 anchor brands we are in discussions with to bring up similar models in other cities," she said.

According to Singh, who did not disclose the investment planned by the company in future projects, developing malls for housing luxury brands is an attractive proposition.

According to a CII-A T Kearney report, India's luxury market, which is small compared to global standards, is likely to grow three times and touch USD 14.7 billion by 2015.

In 2009, the luxury industry, including products, services and assets, was estimated at USD 4.76 billion.

MINNEAPOLIS, Sep 27, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- TE Connectivity (TE) today announced that its FlexWave Prism distributed antenna system (DAS) has been deployed to cover the Inorbit Mall in Hyderabad, India. The FlexWave Prism DAS provides uniform coverage and capacity throughout the 1.6 million square foot property, and delivers services for three major mobile operators.
The new DAS supports four frequencies to deliver both 2G and 3G services within the mall. One of India's leading neutral host, in-building solutions providers, Global Rural NetCo Limited (GRNL), a part of the Global Group of companies, did the design, deployment and selected the FlexWave Prism DAS as the preferred solution.
"With such a large area to cover we wanted to avoid long runs of coaxial cable where we would lose signal strength over the distance of the run," said Kumar Chakravarthy -- President, Sales at GRNL. "The active FlexWave Prism DAS ensured that the system would deliver maximum power at every antenna point for multiple operators, and it could be deployed utilizing a single equipment room and thus took up less space."
"FlexWave Prism DAS makes it easy and cost-effective to cover large indoor areas like the Inorbit Mall," said Chris Jurasek, vice president and general manager, of the TE Wireless and Services business unit. "With just a few remote antenna units, we can cover a large area with high capacity and consistent signal strength to ensure that visitors have a positive experience with their mobile devices."

We are very proud to collaborate with TE Connectivity and GNRL to provide uninterrupted mobile services and unmatched browsing experience for our patrons at Inorbit Mall, Hyderabad. Nop. Check out their webpage (http://www.citycapitalmall.com/floorplansdefault.html). The mall has close to 1.5 million sq ft area. Still it comes below Cochin's Lulu Mall having 1.7 million sq ft area. Not to create a mess and spoil the thread, the claims in their web page as "India's First MEGA MALL" & "THE FIRST MILLION SFT MALL IN INDIA" are hilarious after many million plus malls are already opened in various parts of the country and the biggest in the country at Cochin slated to open in few months time.

Hii... Where exactly is the Phoenix mall coming!! Coz i cannot trace out the location through the map provided in their website.

Besides, looks like the JNTU- Hitech city road is coming up with so many malls and multiplexes and also with so many residential projects around the area. I can see residential works of some big builders too as Manjeera majestic homes, Manjeera trinity homes, Lodha's, Indu's fortune fields, SMR's fountain head and also the Prajay Megapolis coming up with 21 towers of 20 floors each in 21 acres of land beside INDU. Also can see some malls in good swing of construction such as Madhucon, manjeera majestic already taken up its shape and yes trinity mall too. I guess Forum mall of prestige is also kind of in good shape. Hope they get open in next 2 years time!! But i dont understand where is the hotel parsvanth coming up!! i mean the location. and nyidea when is it gonna come up!!

Thanks and best wishes

German luxury brand Marc Cain to open 5 more stores in FY13
Enthused by the rising demand for luxury brands in India, Germany-based women's fashion brand Marc Cain plans to open five more stores during the current fiscal.

Marc Cain currently operates two stores in Mumbai and plans to open another one to cater to the niche clientele.

"We plan to open five more premises this financial year. The first store will be in South Mumbai, two will come up in Delhi and one each in Hyderabad and Bangalore," Marc Cain Franchise Stores owner in India and the UAE, Punit Agarwal said.

On estimated investments, he said, "every store will take an investment of at least Rs 3-4 crore, so we have set aside Rs 20 crore for the five stores."

The luxury market in India, estimated to be Rs 3,000 crore, is growing at 22-25 per cent a year.

The German company has posted 100% annual growth for the last five years and Agarwal expects Rs 30 crore worth sales from the new stores within a year. "Every store should do sales of Rs 5-6 crore in the first year itself."

The company also plans to open stores in Kuwait and Qatar.

"We are already present in Dubai and plan to get into Qatar and Kuwait. That will be a good opportunity. Right now we are in talks with the parent company to enter these countries. I expect that to happen this financial year or early next year," Agarwal said.

The investment in the two countries should be $2 million each because of higher costs, he added.

Phoenix Lotus Mall is strategically located in Kukatpally with good frontage towards NH-9, with its main approach from Prashanti Nagar residential area. The project has 1.2 mn sq. ft. of Gross leasable retail, 1.9 million sq. ft. Gross built area, 1800 car parks, 11 screen cinema with a capacity of over 3000 seats, and an interesting mix of both local and international retailers along with hypermarket, department store, fine-dining, food court, and entertainment. Positioned as a world-class shopping destination, the project will have excellent connectivity linkages through the upcoming metro rail corridor between Miyapur and LB Nagar, with a direct pathway proposed from the metro station to the 3rd floor of the mall
http://www.lotusshoppingcentres.com/hyderabad

Does anyone know if the last part is true

Prodigist
June 14th, 2012, 10:32 PM
^^ Could be true.. HMRL MD was talking about connecting all major commercial establishments through direct walkways like in the Bangkok metro.. If want to know more you can check out the video from 1:16:00.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32gPjfhCLAU

Another explanation is that the Phoenix Group is one of L&T's sister concerns(Not 100% sure) because HITEC City Phase-2(SEZ) is the L&T Phoenix InfoCity.. If this is true then there is no reason why the direct walkway connection won't happen.

Fame Himayatnagar is not happening anymore because they are opening a hotel in the Brand Factory mall. I've seen some activity in the Sudarshan theatre complex and they recently broke down a building in the Odeon Theatre complex..

A few months back I had seen some activity inside a large plot at the Patny junction didn't know then that it was for a mall/multiplex. Secunderabad definitely a multiplex ASAP..

No I'm talking about the Patny Junction.. There was a big plot that was levelled beside the Chandana Bros shop there.. The Chermas shop is near Parklane on MG road

^^ Oh sorry I meant Chandana Bros only at Mahabub College Signal. Yes, I've seen that, I too took it for a mall but there were boards of a residential project. Cannot remember the name though

Maybe this is what you guys were looking for, :)

If this render is to be believed, then this proposed mega project at Gachibowli will have a hotel that stands 55 Floors tall, accompanied by a 30 floors residential tower and a Mall !

Thanks Kailash.
If this becomes a reality then we can see a 55 floored tower, which would be the tallest in hyd.

^^ Hopefully it won't get stalled like the Obelisk Tower (remember that one?) from back in 2003, but considering how much the property market in Hyd has changed, I think it's pretty likely that this one will be built as planned, 55F + 30F, taking the crown from Lodha Belezza and becoming India's tallest building outside of Mumbai (Unless some of the projects in the NCR get finished first), South India's tallest building (taking the crown from Lodha Belezza's U/C towers and today's Choice Paradise in Kochi), and India's tallest all-hotel building outside of Mumbai (what's going on with the 2nd tower at their Four Seasons complex?).

Yes the project will be launched next year, can't wait !

When is Sangeet Multiplex supposed to open and who are the developers

Its already June, yet no sign of it. And about the Developers, i'v heard its the owners of the old sangeet collaborating with some Singapore based company.

Sangeet to make a comeback in new avatar (http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2011-06-17/hyderabad/29669693_1_new-avatar-multiplex-sangeet-theatre)

Sangeet 70mm, the landmark cinema that first brought Hollywood movies to the city, is returning in a new avatar as `Sangeet Cine Leisure,' Secunderabad's first mall-cum-multiplex. The project, that was in limbo for the past three years, has kickstarted again and will now be completed by March, 2012.

Owners of the mall-multiplex venture say that it would retain the trademark look of Sangeet theatre. So, the Sangeet facade that the city has only been too familiar with for five decades would be retained, albeit with a modern touch to it. "The idea is to retain the identity of Sangeet and also go with the tide of modernisation," said Akshat Misra, the owner, adding that the new Sangeet will have four screens, retail stores, gaming zones, food courts and a three-tier underground parking. "We want to cater to the niche market of Secunderabad. It won't be extremely high-end, but will certainly retain the classy image that Sangeet as a brand name has," he added. "The USP of the mall-cum-multiplex is to cater to the necessities of the modern lifestyle of the Secunderabadis, who deserve a mall-cum-multiplex on their side of the town," Misra said.

The construction of this complex had hit a roadblock after the old cinema complex was pulled down in 2008. The financial meltdown in 2008 and 2009, and then the incessant monsoon in 2010 hampered construction. However, construction activity is now on full swing. Construction at the ground level is now complete, the owners say.

The excitement levels are already palpable among Secunderabad residents who say that it was high time the ignored twin of the twin cities got a multiplex of its own. "My children and grandchildren were visiting me from the US and the nearest mall was in Begumpet or Banjara Hills. We have been living here for years and should have some entertainment options close by,'' says A V Subbarao, who resides in A S Rao Nagar. College students from this part of town are the most excited. In fact, forums dedicated to the upcoming mall-multiplex have come up on social networking site with people sharing pictures of the construction and reminiscent accounts of old experiences at Sangeet. A forum member, Sanjay David Repoody described the venture as the "monument of Marredpally" even as another local resident, Guru Raghavender left a message, "I am eagerly waiting for it to be completed."

The Anand property has been bought by the GVK Group. They haven't figured out what to do with it. It could either be a hotel or a luxury mall.

Pan India Paryatan launches EsselWorld’s mall format (http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/industry-and-economy/marketing/article3598678.ece?homepage=true&ref=wl_home)

PUNE, JULY 3:
The Essel Group subsidiary Pan India Paryatan Pvt Ltd, the parent company for amusement theme parks, EsselWorld and Water Kingdom, has made its first brand extension in over two decades with the launch of a new format that can be located in a mall.

EsselWorld Freeze, the new product, is first being launched in an Inorbit mall at Pune, and plans are afoot to extend the mall format to at least eight more cities, including Hyderabad and Bangalore in the next two years.

“We are introducing the concept of EsselWorld Adrenaline,” Mr Shirish Deshpande, Chief Executive Officer, PIPPL, said, adding this was planned as an umbrella for new products, and Freeze was the first of these.

Another option being examined was a larger format that could have amusement options such as wave surfing or walls for rappling, he said.

Spread across 5,520 feet, Freeze is divided into three zones, an ice skating rink designated Arctic Circle, a snow zone termed North Pole and the Bar. The ice and snow technology has been imported from Europe.

According to an estimate, the size of the active amusement market in India was around Rs 2,000 crore annually and growing at a rate of 15-20 per cent.

Though Mumbai’s EsselWorld, which is spread on 64 acres of land, was launched 23 years ago, the lack of affordable land banks has restricted setting up more parks, Mr Deshpande said.

The company is in now in talks with the Goa government and may plan an amusement park in that State, he added.
