Al Khiam is a scenic town located in South Lebanon Governorate, near the city of Nabatieh. It is located in Southern Lebanon, 750 meters above sea level, 100 km away from Beirut and roughly 4 kilometers from the Israeli border. Al Khiam is famous for it's 360 degree panooramic views of mountains, lakes, valleys and farmland. Al Khiam is also famous for for it's lively town center. It has also been the sight of the Al-Khiam detention center, known for the deadlist torture techniques in the world. In this center people where tortured, raped and than killed in front of their family by the SLA and IDF. Khiam is famed because of it's resilience. It has been rebuild over 10 times in trivial periods of time, due to periodic conflict with Israel. The liberation of the Khiam jail in 2000, has brought the likings of many international scholars. The prisoners held inside the jail believed that IDF forces where returning to torture them, but in fact it was Lebanese coming to rescue them. It is home to the famous Ghassan Khreis, a Biomedical Engineer renowned for his research in Medical Robotics and Artificial.



Al Khiam is a masterpiece of terrain and nature with 360 views that leaves you gasping for breath.

is it true that they bombed the old prison in 2006?

^^ The prison was completely annihilated in 2006. Israel's goal was to burn the appalling evidence of their acts against humanity that took place at the jail. It had become a touristic focal point :)
