thats my little "private display" lol. its a display i built over 10 years and it has worlds tallest towers, skyscrapers, also industrial stuff, ancient structures. Also a detail display on Australia's tallest bldgs and each city in Oz. Also Worlds tallest bldg from 1885-current.
All the bldgs are 1;1000 and i try to keep up todate.
ill post some of it if you want.

Ok, I'm guessing that red means U/C. What does white and grey mean?

CULWULLA
June 26th, 2004, 01:40 PM
correct- RED or Terra Cotta means UC
Grey -pproved for construction but not commenced.
White-pending approval or stage 1 DA (which means its early stage of development process).
browny colour- heritage listed!
beige-existing
cheers

The Sydney Tower looks white to me?

Because westfield's (the new owners) plan to build towers right next to it..hence change of colour as the entire complex has changed and needs approval for ze amendments.

Sydney tower has two separate DA's in atm. The Westfield proposal calls for 2 towers atop podium. The podium is being entirely refurbed and altered. Skywalk PTY LTD hasve also got a "bridgeclimb" type struture atop the turret which should be built soon. its a circular steel platform which encircles the gold turret.
I suppose i could paint the actual tower beige?. lol, im to lazy.maybe when i get time in july.
cheers

Here is a diagram of the latest projects based on model room panorama I did last month which lists just about all the latest proposals and towers under construction (EAST was blocked). I apologise for it being a dark.

if anyone is wondering why some models are missing from councils model is because we are lending our models to "Modelcraft" to copy and update the Customs House model which is over 80 models out of date! It hasnt been updated since conception in 1999.they should only have a group of models for 3 days at a time to copy then they come back for another 5-6 scrapers. they are copying models from south to the north, so they are currently up around world square area.

Ah! so that's what it is. I was thinking that some were just off the table for a routine paint job, but I thought that Latitude was a bit premature to have it go beige.

That saves them literally hundreds of hours research.

The "Rocks Tower" is under the SHFA control (Sydney harbour foreshore Authority) and should come in soon as a DA. We will get a block model first and when its finally starts construction then we wil get a detailed model. I was told it wil be approx 40storeys tall or 130m. hopefully it will come in soon.

Just curious....I've often wondered why the Cockle Bay part of Darling Harbour has never been built and added to the model. I realise that it wasn't (and still isn't) under the control of the City but so are many other areas. This is the one bit of the model that seems incomplete.

Another Newbie Question from a guy who should stop dreaming from a large building with black glass with silver trim with a big yellow section next to it from North Sydney (Clue to my building) and drag himself into the CBD sometime... But the model room, is it public or private? If it's open to the public i should go to town hall house sometime...

It's open to all. It's located next to the One Stop Shop on level one.

The cockle bay area is part of the city model.the whole Pyrmont peninsula is part of model.I am currently extending it further east to include all of Surrey Hills, darlinghurst & potts point ect. We will do Green Sq as a separate display in near future. But we ack space and the main CBD is all we can make. There is a table on south part of model room which has all the south sydney DA's and models.

Thanks Culwulla
I realise that the Cockle Bay area is part of the City Model. I've been popping in there for years when I get the opportunity. One of the great sites of the city!! I've just always been curious why the actual Cockle Bay complex which is part of the Darling Park development on the east side has never been modelled. You can't have forgotten it!!
